Allons-y!
Thought so, it's really weird seeing a guy who was so dominant in Beijing struggling so far in London. To be fair to him after winning 14 golds I can see why he would be a bored of swimming.
another brit that'll probably disappoint here
he didn't want to swim the 400 IM, not sure why he did. If he hadn't done that, he'd have a medal in his only race. Can't blame him for Lochte blowing the relay, but it was a shock for the US to win the relay 4 years ago. He mistimed the touch, but overall looked good in the 200m fly. He might be able to hold off Cavic in 100m, but it would be said if he finished it off with no golds.
Is he swimming the 4x200 tonight or no?
Yes. He'll likely get golds in the relays.he didn't want to swim the 400 IM, not sure why he did. If he hadn't done that, he'd have a medal in his only race. Yes, and I think U.S. will be favored in that and the medley relay.
he's won and set records without them, so it would be hard to argue either wayI wonder if Phelps' stroke or style somehow took better advantage of those illegal Speedo suits they had in 2008... another factor to consider I guess.
Injury timeout in fencing for the Egyptian. I wonder if that fall in his previous match is still giving him trouble.

I love Redgrave, but you have to hand it to the current athletes - they're competing in a much more competitive environment. Many more nations are investing into sports programs, meaning competition is a lot fiercer.Nu-uh.
Maybe me being biased but I think Sir Steve Redgraves achievement of 5 Olympic golds at 5 consecutive games puts him ahead of Phelps.

Phelps isn't the greatest olympian of all time. Medals are biased in favour of swimming so that a dominant swimmer for one year can pick up 10+ golds. Best Swimmer of all time though.
Phelps not as good, Lolchte not as good. The sole US good story is the womens gymnastics team and the swimming teen

Its all athletics from here on right ?
This again?
winning that many medals is heavily skewed in favor of swimmers and gymnasts. he's damn good but getting 19 medals will not make him the greatest olympian of all time.

look at all of these swimmers winning 8 golds out there this year!
Huh?
Hes is just saying that both have declined from Beijing. Which is true.
Kinda agree. I'm generally the type who watches see the athletes and what they do to win or what interesting stuff they do even if they don't win. Either way, they're on the world stage, and they trained really hard for it. Even if it doesn't pan out excellently for them in terms of getting a medal, what counts is seeing them work hard and do their best. That's what I watch the Olympics for. It's not about the silly medal count for me.So after the medal table, are we gonna discuss who's the greatest Olympian? Why guys, please stop, it's stupid![]()
It really does. You can sense the salt from the comments in this thread. Like it or not, Phelps is still the greatest Olympic swimmer of all time. Another medal to add to his collection and one more will make him the greatest Olympian of all time. Stay salty haters.![]()
No, it seems he's implying the US sucks since they didn't perform as well as before. He seems to be suggesting it's downhill for the US when it's only 4 days in.
Most projections say US will do better overall this Olympics than last. We will see. Supposedly our track and field is vastly improved.
A less outlandish proposition than genetic engineering.Really?
