The GB pair hit a bouy then the seat broke.

Think they'll get disqualified. Already some rowers from other teams saying that's a DQ anywhere else in the world.

I saw a screwdriver, not a new HW piece. Hope judges know what the are doing.

Seems a rule made for when wooden oars would break. Used rarely these days. Will probably drop it before the next ones.

Not being too cynical, but on the overhead replay, the Brits looked to be out of their lane early on, could they have engineered an issue?

So, brits can restart but Luis Leon in the road race couldn't... someone explain this to me :/
According to the commentators...

Rowing has a 100m rule where the race can restart if there is a breakage in the first 100m. Back in teh days pre-carbon fibre, the enormous strain on the boats at the start (due to the sudden acceleration) caused many faults. Doesn't happen as much now but the rule is still there.

If GB wins it it will be shameful.

I love the eagerness by some people for GB to fail.

Our athletes are some of the most humble, respectful and sportsmanlike in the world, but people are so desperate to shit on them.

That was a road race which has different rules to track rules. Mechanicals in road racing are dealt with in real time.

The fact that they use mechanical starting blocks in many track cycling events means a restart rule has to be in place there.

The others didn't exactly row that much further than anyone else. It's not as if they did 10 metres and the others did 1,000.

Ha - I don't care. The controversy is merely entertainment to me and GB are there because they deserve to be and I'm sure the judges are a bunch of internationals and not a GB conspiracy.

Well I don't really have anything against team GB (except in road cycling, where they just thought they had a sure win) you have to say that this was a bit disturbing. Not saying they were cheating but this didn't looked very clean.
