Mark Cavendish, Ian Thorpe and Michael Johnson are great, and the BBC have pulled blinders in getting them (yes, I'm aware that Johnson has been with the beeb for a while)

While it's not actually relevant to this Olympics (indeed, I think he might be doing NBC's coverage for it?), I'd add John McEnroe for the Wimbledon coverage to that list.

It's really sad to see the post-race interview with Hunter and Zac Purchase. They seemed so distraught with their silver but they gave everything they could so I doubt anyone is disappointed with them.

The BBC is great with all sports at picking former players to be commentators.

Except football, in which they make awful choices.

God yes. Lawrenson and Mark Bright in particular are dismal

Agreed, really like McEnroe. Perfect mix of humour, insight, enthusiasm, criticism and excitement. I feel sad when he goes off during Wimbledon to do some American commentary, and leaves us with Tim 'Charisma' Henman

this chinese guy is a best swimmer at these olympics. winning silver in 200 freestyle and gold in 400, and now beasting 1500 is way more impressive than swimming like a butterfly.
