From what I understand, each lifter is given a minute to get onto the stage and attempt the lift. However if the athlete goes twice in a row he is given 2 minutes to show up. The 1st Chinese lifter was given 2 minutes. However, one of his opponents (also Chinese) opted to go next. Then he decided to pass his lift and settle on his current score. That made the first guy next again but only with 1 minute to go. He and his trainers never realised they just had 1 minute.
