I just saw the replay of the interview with the two british rowers. Manly tears, plain and simple.
If it is the one I saw earlier then that was a really sad interview. They genuinely believed they let the country down but they really haven't. They gave everything they could and that is all we can ask of them.

Anyone have a link to the anthem singing? Kinda wanna see but NBC sucks sooooooooooooo

But bro, didn't you hear? We're MURICAN, therefore we're only allowed to see or think about things that are MURICAN.

NBC's rules.

If Murray wins tomorrow I think we might see a BBC presenter spontaneously combust live on air.

Not even gonna lie, I was rooting for Federer at Wimbledon, but tomorrow I'm rooting for Murray. The reaction if he wins...

Yeah, that's the one. Really moving stuff.
Shows how many of these athletes really feel they carry the weight of the entire nation on their shoulders.

So is sport fully funded through the national lottery in our country, or is that just one of the primary sources?

After the amazing performance so far I really think we should be looking at increasing the investment so we can maintain and build on this - just look what it's done for cycling, and I would assume rowing too as we're great at that as well. Some of the track athletes really starting to benefit from it now too, we should make sure if a sport thinks it can improve but needs money, if we have the money then the sport gets it.

A lot of factors I'm not considering there like budgets and whatever, but now's not the time for rational thinking after today

because a country with 500 million people should be 5x more likely to win a medal than a country with 100million people. That's not how it works bud

Well, When you have 5x as many people you potentially have 5x as many athletes.

Population definitely plays a factor, It's part of the reason why China is dominating, and I suspect India will too in 10-20 years

Small part. The population argument is flawed for a variety of reasons. Just get better at more sports.

Lewis Hamilton winning the Formula One World Championship in 2008 in dramatic style, on the last lap of final race of the season has been surpassed as my favourite moment of British sporting success by today's events.

Sorry Lewis.

Potentially, but it's far from the truth. Culture, money, and standard of living matters a lot to produce gold medal olympians.

Well apparently we massively overestimated our targets in the swimming, were predicted 7 medals but only got 3. Some more investment there could do some good, though there are rumours that funding could be cut in that area given our poor performance in the pool. :(

Seems China are putting a lot of effort into it (arguably stealing all of Australia's coaches is why they've done so badly in the pool)... so that might not be the smartest target. :)
