Mad Men - Season 7, Part 2 - The End of an Era - AMC Sundays

Weiner said explicitly in an interview that he thinks, overall, don is a good father. He'll come back.

That's interesting, do you got a link to this interview, or at least some terms I could google to find it? I'd be interested in seeing that, but if that's true than yeah there's a good chance Don will come back.

Pretty funny that Pete is going to work for a private jet company considering his father died in a plane crash. I guess that's symbolism for him moving past his father's womanising ways or whatever.

I just...wow, let's just say I'm really happy for Pete, that was the kind of ending I always wanted for him; and thinking about Betty's past that was the most appropriate ending for her as well...her life is such a sad story.

This line from Pete sums up the last few episodes for me:

"It's something I couldn't have imagined, yet exactly what I expected."

Don Draper finally makes it to California, and settles in the San Fernando Valley, where having completely shed what being Don Draper or Dick Whitman was or may have ever been... Don goes into porn as The Dickman

Sally's really come into her own now near the end of the series, even though I felt really bad for her having to take so much responsibility with Betty's medical development she can definitely handle it.

Ooh good connection. I like it as linking back to his father and acting as a symbol of his success where Don failed, for now at least. Don saw a plane and realized there was no way out and no way back to fix the past lives of his he'd ruined, Pete met a plane corp. and was able to escape McCann and resurrect a past life.

Next week is gonna be so tough.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
I loved Sally's scene where she sat in the center dining table seat, which is usually where Betty sits.

And then she took baby Gene....and I just said to my wife "she's gonna grow up real quick". :(

No way does this not all come back around and bite Pete in the ass in the finale. It's either plane crash or there was never really an offer.

I've always looked at Peggy as the second lead character next to Don, so I'll be disappointed if she's not mentioned or featured in someway during the finale.

It was in a (iirc) late march issue of the New Yorker, in the talk of the town section. Dunno if they put it online sorry.

This, I think, was the best Shirpka has ever been on this show. She absolutely sold that reaction, pitch perfect.

She was perfect in that scene, as was Henry. Like who even cares about Henry, and yet I felt so bad when he broke down. The way he reacts to the whole situation, you can really tell he loves Betty.

Mad Men has consistently excelled at getting the best out of its smaller supporting characters. Was glad to see Duck back one last time too.

I'm so happy for Pete that I have no confidence in the deal working out. I fear the people saying Pete has grown up the most are about to find out how naively boyish he still is. I hope it works out for him, but I have my doubts.

Who the fuck banks their hopes and dreams on something Duck Phillips is selling?

Final scene of Mad Men, flash forward several years, as young fresh faced soldier Bobby Draper watches his fellow officer die in a tragic fireball accident. Without fully understanding why, Bobby reaches down and swaps dog tags with Lieutenant Walter White.

That was my fear the entire episode, but by the end it felt like they had wrapped up Pete's storyline so I'm not sure. I'll just assume it went well unless we're shown otherwise.

McCann got hosed big time, all that money for Ted and Harry.

What I find funny is how Don completely fucked Ted, selling him on that sales pitch to finally be able to do the creative he always wanted, helping Ted board that bullship, then bailing out as soon as Don sees the iceberg ahead.

I doubt we'll be seeing him again.

Ted seems pretty content overall with the way things are going now though.

I heard that the next episode sees Pete's airport-bound car make a stop at McCann where he heads up to give his formal resignation, only to come back down, exit the lobby and find Don's sidewalk-bound body to have made paste out of Trudy.

My uncle was an extra on the set that day and can confirm it.

There is not enough talk about how great it was to see Duck again. He stole every scene he was in. And I see him stealing Peggy's heart - again! - in the season finale.
