Mafia: The Old Country Surpasses 800K Units in First 5 Days

Hangar 13's latest entry in the Mafia franchise has enjoyed a strong launch, selling 800,000 units across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox in its first four days. PlayStation leads the way with around 48% of total sales, while Steam contributes roughly one-third of the total. The game's reception shows that both PC and console audiences have embraced the title, making for a successful multi-platform debut.

Launch Highlights
💰 Units Sold: 800,000
⏱️ Average Playtime: 8.8 hours
👍 Positive Reviews (Steam): 72.9%

The robust early sales underline the enduring appeal of the Mafia IP and validate the studio's choice to deliver a linear, narrative-driven experience with cinematic presentation. The stronger performance on PlayStation may reflect the platform's strategic alignment with story-focused single-player games.

That means it will break 1m sales before any discounts and very high likely gonna reach 2m sold copies total ltd ^^
3,61:1 ratio of copies in favour of playstation tho, should give us rough estimates how situation looks in terms of consoles sold, ofc nowadays xbox players are trained to never buy games at launch but still i think that 3:1 worldwide playstation vs xbox series units aproaching upon us quickly =D

Hopefully with those sales they can make a proper game next time because although the game is decent and has a good story, the gameplay is quite poor. I cant believe I am saying this but I enjoyed more Mafia 3 gameplay wise

I'm surprised how quickly people are playing the game. I got the achievement for completing chapter 9 last night, and it's over 40% earned. Almost half the people that bought the game have played 2/3rds of it in less than 2 weeks. Even for a shorter game, that seems really high for the first 2 weeks.

Great, hope it shows the way for shorter, tightier AAA games.

By the way Xbox has become useless
112k in 8 days at full price. I'm sure a small publisher like that is more than fine with it. It'll keep selling over time.

What it shows me is that if you're a PS exclusive, you'll get half as many sales as going multiplat, or worse.

For a low-budget game, it's alright.
It's a bit unfortunate it's a massive downgrade from previous Mafia titles in terms of replayability and gameplay. Outside of the story mode, there's absolutely nothing to do. No enemies to fight, no police system, no car chases and the list goes on.

I'm hoping we'll get news for Mafia IV soon.

You can Buy and Stream the game on any chromium browser, without having to own any hardware.

I like the setting takes place but most gameplay I saw from it is very much cinematic Uncharted style game and I'm just so over that type of gameplay.

I'm more excited for this, it has setting I like with more interesting gameplay.

Yakuza combat gameplay is the worst aspect of the games imo.

Not every1 is circana subscriber to have access to all kinds of data, us normies gotta extrapolate from somewhere, and whats better than official sales data with a 3way split from newly released game :)

Added? It's the only thing this whole thread is for.

Mafia is a B tier series that sells for $10 or less everywhere and still people barely talk about it. It's doing B tier numbers, which is what everyone should have expected.

This is Mafia "IV". And not only that, it is the first in a trilogy that's all about these characters.

Just finished it. Awesome game. Great shooting (the shotgun especially so). Good story, Good vo. Didn't overstay it's welcome. Great setting.

100%.

For a game that isn't Pro-Playstation or Pro-Xbox from the past. A pure neutral game. Once it hits 4:1 ratio for software sold per game.......media will really pay attention.

As I showed to you, your numbers are going to be very flawed. Because there's still 20-25 million Xbox One users out there with the ability to Buy and Stream current gen Series games.

Sony doesn't allow that for PS4 users or Cloud only players.

Those 20-25m old xbox one s/x users are cheap enough to not change to xbox series consoles 4,5 years into the generation, i bet negligible amount will be doing anything like that ;P
