I'm a pretty major weeaboo tbh, I tend to be familiar with both. Though my knowledge on Sailor Moon isn't as strong as my knowledge of the obscurity of Dragonball; I could go on and on about the differences between the dub and original when it comes to DBZ.

I come to this thread to read impressions and make / take recommendations. Lots of laughs etc etc. Whether I read them or not isn't an issue, it's all in good fun. I hate when this thread comes around every Wednesday and it becomes Big 3 trolling, but that's what happens and I don't make any comments. I have more fun reading survivor/gunbo/IJ or whoever talk about aunt-tits, than I do reading EVERY other single post about OP IS THE GREATEST MANGA ever.
Also it's not a testament to the quality of OP, I'm saying it gets tiring and is part of the norm and I like to read something out of the blue.
Edit: Also when the discussion goes around, they admit that it's "bad manga" they aren't going around saying it's the best manga ever. If you actually read the posts from the last few pages they have "bad taste".

One of the biggest things I disagree with when it comes to OP gushing is almost always humor. Not that I can argue it, because humor is probably the most subjective thing you can judge in a manga.

I try to read all, I mean if I didnt do that then I would miss hearing of some nice series like Buster Keel or Psyren or Flame of Recca, occasionally wiki series and give them a chance when people bring them up and try to glance at them unless they look really slice of lifey, dont like that genre at all.

And I'm in the exact opposite position. I know it's a little hypocritical for me to say, but constantly hearing people hype praise onto trainwrecks gets boring, fast. I'd much rather read people gushing about something that's good, or at least something where the description doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. Or in other words:
Overpraising good comics > overpraising bad comics.

I also think One Piece can be funny at times. It's just I see posts saying so many things in certain chapters are "so hilarious omg" and really, it's not that funny.

Wait thats the source of the Gray, Natsu etc in those glasses? After reading that crossover, I think I want to actually read the series, nice character designs, and the characters are kind of funny.
The mangaka of Yankee-kun to Megane-chan learned from the expert, Mashima after all. She was his assistant.
It's basically Fairy Tail: High School as far as designs are concerned.

I had been reading it consistently, enough to get through the arc with Tokiya Mikagami, water sword such guy at the carnival, but then I put it on hold to marathon the reborn anime. Probably get back to reading it soon since it was really compelling.
