Well the first few volumes can be pretty cringe-worthy in how awkward the whole thing is but as it goes on it becomes much more obviously self-parodic in nature notably with the shameless fanservice and ridiculous notions that pertains to one's way of life and beliefs yet remains a rather accurate portrayal as far as commentaries go of the challenges one must overcome in order to attain their goals as well as the strength of bonds old and new not to mention the importance of entrusting one's fate to the whims of the universe yet learning to overcome them and to never give up even when one's situation becomes most dire, because that's what the meaning of life is.
In other words, it's a metaphor for life. And asses. Endure and appreciate the madness that's life.

Well that wraps up this arc. It was very messy with a lot of bad cliffhangers, what that's to be expected from current HnG. The ending at least wrapped up nicely for me, and today's chapter makes sense on why the jewel suddenly got destroyed.
I wonder how long until Hayate's brother gets his memory back. I can't even remember if they revealed how he lost his memories.
It sucks that with the way HnG's pacing is, I tend to forget a lot of the events.
There's something wrong when you keep consistently hoping for the main character to lose his fights. He didn't deserve to win against Wolly and he sure doesn't deserve to win this fight, he's just too inferior.
Fuck this is why rize is best girl
Fuck
yeah, with the way he was being styled on by wolly he definitely wasn't ready.
if he wins this he just gets thrashed by ricardo or something or we have to go through a period where he has to have his ego deflated or something else dumb to read.
at least if he loses now he has proof his style works somewhat and they can just train.
But Ippo boxing style didn't actually work against Wolly (to the point that Ippo coach said they wouldn't fight against Wolly in the future again) or during this fight, Wolly lost due to inexperience, and Ippo only has a chance against Gonzales because Gonzales lost his mind and stopped boxing at a world level, opting instead to randomly punch Ippo.
This two fights effectively made me think that Ippo boxing simply doesn't work at this level. And since Ippo is a very limited boxer, it simply made it harder to believe that Ippo has any chance at world level unless his opponents "defeat themselves".

hmm, it's been awhile so i didn't remember that they'd avoid wolly. i'd have thought they would just counter measure better since they now know that wolly likes to jump around the ring.
and yeah i agree to an extent. it's hard to simply say that it won't work when there's so many strong boxers on the outside saying good things about him.
It was one of the things that stuck with me after Wolly fight. At this point I would had prefer them to drop Ippo and focus on Wolly ascension to become World Champion, since he's essentially the best candidate to do so.
