If I were to tag it with genres, horror'd be one of them. At the very least, it has significant horror elements in its plot and presentation.

Oh well I'll have to agree that it has horror elements but it the end it dosn't have real horror. But I guess enough to put it an horror tag. I read it for the smut though lol.

Not very long, chapter 8 starts an arc with another fighter who's equal to Toriko, the arc after that starts like chapter 19 and introduces several powerful fighters for much higher stakes.
I understand your frustration because that was my early "urgh" with Toriko as well, the series gets a lot better when all the incredible characters begin to take the stage and it's not just Toriko and the normal people.

You know, before reading AKB49 I haven't even seen a single video / heard a single song from AKB48. I saw two videos of their song last night and was a *bit* taken aback by how... pandering, everything was.

You know thinking about HXH made me realized how incredible it is that Kuropika is the member of the group with broken abilities (specialist) in most shounen the protagonist would be the one with the super special awesome ability so I really appreciate how HxH approaches the genre

I don't know. Ito is a pretty good artist, imo, and looking at some recent anime, I don't feel like most studios could do the art justice. Most of them look pretty cheap (like the JoJo anime).
