As usual Shauna ruins everything. EVERYTHING.

Cool to see X stepping up now though.

That's beautiful man
All part of my efforts to rehabilitate her. She needs hobbies and reading literature is one of the few things she is actually interested in. So far her favorite is Mari.
lol, then stop pranking if you want some of that good stuff.
My wife is a lunatic like myself. She needs to be able to take japes before I can let her go outside again. I want her to be able to live life peacefully and that matters to me more than getting laid.

"My best friend since I was a kid asked me how I felt about you, so I realize you're my best friend!"

Feels a bit worse to me!

I meant more in terms of what it meant to the plot, insofar as Nisekoi has a plot. In terms of which is more insulting; to be friendzoned by the guy you have a crush on or to be demoted from best friend by that friendzoning...it's kind of stab in the heart, stab in the back to me. Either way the guy's an asshole and you've got a hole in your torso.

One profession is illegal and the other doesn't exist anymore..?
You've been reading too much shounen manga. What an interesting imagination you have...

What makes you think I am any of the sort? maybe you need to read prison school or domestic na kanojo.

Yotsuba&! 2-5

Yotsuba is such a weird but cute character. Her interactions with her Dad are heartwarming and brilliant. In ways it reminds me of Handa's and Naru's relationship from Barakamon which I really enjoyed. This is a really comfy relaxed series that absolutely lifts my mood and makes me smile.

It was a joke, because you mentioned the both of you being maniacs, and that you two spar together. So I was imagining you two training together like in a shounen manga.

We do spar often. She is well trained from an early age and I am self taught. We spar to keep in shape and to make sure neither of us get rusty. plus it satisfies violent urges so it's killing three birds with one stone.

We're both very violent but the difference between me and her is that I have the patience of a stone when it comes to adversity in life. She has the patience of a lit firecracker. I am always worried she might get into trouble again.

Having said that, I will say this much to you: I know the loss of life all too well. even worse with my wife.
If you experience loss of a dear friend or family. hit me up with a pm. I extend this offer to rest of mangagaf if y'all experience loss.

Yen press can eat shit. Wait until july to get Prison school localized?
I might as well import straight from japan in it's native language, damn!

Urami Koi, Koi, Urami Koi 01

The story of the hateful cat meeting the hateful rat in a city of zodiacs.

Not bad. Similar to the one shot but don't remember the protag being this gullible. Still has some of the charm of the one shot so lets see how this goes.

Kase-san 10

It's not often you run into a yuri as amazing as Kase-san. I love how they're dating well before the end of the series. That doesn't usually happen in a yuri manga.

This looks badass

It is!

Is it yuri? I'm loving the art.

Yes it is. It's a pretty great romance manga.

You read fast! Did you think the last chapter was necessary?

If it wasn't for Hana, I would find the work to be a little misogynistic. I was told such portrayal of women was pretty common in his previous works.

Ha, I knew you'd ask about that last chapter. I myself found it rather unnecessary, but I'm not too bothered by it.

Concerning women, yeah, they aren't exactly depicted positiively, save for Hana, and even then she has a rather typical 'good housewife' portrayal. I can't comment on the author's reputation for it though since it's the only work of his that I've read so far.

You should check out Innocent if you haven't already.

Sakamoto Shinichi is absolutely godlike.

Adding it to my backlog.

Why do you all love to suffer? I know Zweizer hasn't infected all of you.

They know suffering is good. Accept it, Yams~

Got my wife to read Prison school. I think I might be regretting that decision down the line.

Consider investing in Andrenomics.

Ariya used Taunt. It's super effective! RIP California.

The princess continues to be the main reason to follow this. By this point I'm pretty sure I'm siding with her and her barmy army over the heroes, though the MC has definitely improved after the recent developments.

So will Yotsuba spawn a series of great games inspired by it?
I hope so actually

Man. What if they made a Yotsuba game that was like Animal Crossing? Just casually wandering around and doing things, getting rewards from her dad or the man at the bike shop, etc. I would buy that immediately.

Also, I am glad more Clover chapters are out, but I don't know about this "a bike gang with only five members?" thing. Seems like a dig at TFOA from Crows/Worst, if it's not just an homage.

Hey! Welcome!

Thanks :)

I don't think a reader would understand basically any of the jokes or references in UQ without having read Negima.

The references, sure, but I'd say they aren't that important enough to justify forcing someone to read through a series they aren't happy with. The jokes on the other hand are more or less self explanatory. Actually the problem with the humour with UQ Holder is that it is more often hit and miss than needing to read Negima to understand it.

e.g. anything about Negi, anything about Evangeline/Yukihime, the Magia Erebea power, the random girls who show up, Fate's relationship to Negi, etc.

Well, what else do we need to know about Negi that we haven't been told about in UQ Holder? We were told he was considered the strongest Mage in the Universe, he started the Mars terraforming project, was an immortal, mastered Magia Erebea, and in 2065 went ahead and fought a climatic battle with the Lifemaker/Mage of the Beginning that ended with the world thinking he was dead.

Eva/Yukihime? Head of UQ Holder, Tota's adoptive mother, ~700 year old immortal vampire, was Negi master and loved his father Nagi (in fact, we get to see the last part treated as as choking revelation twice for some reason).

Magia Erebea? An immortality spell that both Eva and Negi used, but Negi managed to prefect further than Eva did. Tota is able to use it because he is a artificial creation from Negi's DNA and was made to able to use Negi's techniques.

Who are those girls that keep on showing up in flashbacks? Old comrades of Negi. Girls who used to like him. People Negi used to trust. It was the same way when Nagi kept on being referenced alongside members of Ala Rubra before Rakan got introduced and gave us those long flashbacks. Before that we had just minor hints and appearances of people we had no clue who they were.

Fate's relationship with Negi? He's his friend. That much he had been clear about, and is really what Fate and Negi are about. Sure, we get to see how that friendship began in Negima, and why Fate decided to join forces with Negi, but aside from Fate
deciding that he will murder everyone now that Negi is gone
, what else can be said about the two that wasn't shown or said in Holder?

You can just barely follow along the basic plot (since Touta himself doesn't know any of this), but its like half as interesting if you cut that stuff out.

I disagree. The plot of Holder isn't that difficult to follow, it's just that the existence of Negima (a series that has indepth explanations of the magic techniques/character history that show up here) causes the feeling like reading Negima will make all the mysteries in Holder clearer.

Reading Negima will get you to see how Negi grew to be as powerful as he ended up becoming, and the many battles he had to fight in order to become the man we learn about in UQ. But it doesn't tell you how he ended up being MIA after the battle in 2065 and eventually dying, or who created those genetic clones of him, or who he ended up marrying. Negima shows us how Eva fell in love with Nagi and later on went to train Negi, as well as her origin story, but that isn't that important when you considered that she is now Yukihime, the head of this organisation made to protect immortals 82 years after she graduated from being a student.

We get a more indepth explanation as to what Magia Erebea is, what spell it is derived from, why Eva created it, what are its effects and dangers, how Negi had mastered it, the different ways both he and Eva had used (and continued to use it). But considering the way it manifests for Tota and how he keeps on using it (and the fact he can't actually use magic) do any of those explanations actually matter to him? It might as well be a demon that is sealed within him that comes out whenever Tota is on the verge of death, the way it had been shown thus far.

Sure, reading Negima helps add more context and info to UQ Holder as well as clarify what world it is occurring on. But it is not so much a requirement to the point where someone needs to force themselves to read 350 chapters of a series they aren't enjoying just to get who are those 2 girls that showed up in a random battle video.

Sweet Magic Syndrome 26-31
New volumes of this manga are just like Chocolate acting sweet. They both happen once a year.

... or at least, that's what I'd like to say, but tragically this is the last volume. The sugar withdrawal symptoms are going to kill me, assuming the final chapters don't manage that first.

Ah, in terms of plot yeah, I'd say that's worst, I was thinking more in personal terms.

Raku is a clear example of being oblivious to the point of being an asshole.

I thought that was Panda's thing to ask that to newcomers though.

Except me cause I flew under the radar when I started posting.

Tokyo Ghoul: RE 21

So Roma is some
beastly Rinkaku ghoul
. Uta vs Hirako seems like a grudge match that may shed some more light on Pierrot. Maybe we will get to see kagune too.

The constant Arima-Sasaki comparisons are getting tiring.

So today I meet with rrvv at Odaiba.

We started by checking the Gundam real size statue:

I can't mention how impressive the statue is, I went back there at different points of the day and took a boatload of pictures, I posted some of those pictures on facebook if anyone cares to check)

After which we went to check out on Fuji TV building, they had a Assassin Classroom theme going on.

We followed up by eating at Baratie!

Ordered the cheapest thing there, which was decent, kind of wish I had went for something more expensive and One Piece themed, maybe next time.

The mood was great though, One Piece OST on the background, Sanji talking all the time, TV showing One Piece stuff.

And right after we order Chef Zeff shows up!

Poor real life Merry suffered the same fate as fictional Merry.

Me and rrvv parted ways shortly after, unfortunately we didn't take any pictures together, but it was definitively a very fun experience (added bonus thatI actually got pictures of myself thanks to him!).

xXxholic Rei 1-38

So Watanuki is in a time where Yuko still exists and he's still friends with Doumeki and Himawari, exept something feels wrong, and Watanuki doesn't remember why. I guessed what was happening quite early on but I read this because I saw that Tsubasa World Chronicle existed and that this was the lead up to it. Anyway in the end after several clues, Watanuki figures out that
this is a world that he created to get some items for Syaoran to use in Nirai Kanai, except he had to choose whether to go back to his world or stay in the world he created.
I'm sort of glad CLAMP's continuing the story because I want to see if there will be a happy end for Watanuki and Syaoran.

Tsubasa World Chronicle: Nirai Kanai 1-7

This starts off where Rei left; Syaoran, Kurogane and Fai are in the world of Nirai Kanai, and are invited to the "Princess Goddess" festival, the Princess Goddess herself turns out to be Hana from Gate 7, with Tachibana and Sakura(the man from Gate 7, not Cardcaptor/Tsubasa's MC) as her companions. They want them to go to the other Nirai Kanai which is the world of the dead, and solve a problem that only Syaoran can solve. Well the chapters were quite interesting, no real fights have happened yet although the guys did kill a cute giant toy rabbit that immediately turned into sweets. I'm looking forward to the coming chapters as long as this doesn't go on Hiatus like Gate 7 (Rei is also on Hiatus, but this runs along side it so that's probably why).

I thought the Assassination Classroom display would be life sized :(

It's no wonder that Ryofui would think that way about the monetary system considering it's how he got where he is.

Oddly enough, only Korosensei doesn't look life sized (he's supposed to be 280cm), the rest of the cast looks more or less accurate.
