wow that's a loong time... i think i started it in 2007 when i bought at the volumes released here in Italy in one stop at the manga store... volumes that never grew in number because they decided to stop serializing it ;__;

Flying Witch Oneshot
Guy discover that a classmate is apprentice of an apprentice witch who can barely fly on a broom, they become friends and the end hints a dust of romance.

Unlike the oneshot which had two protagonists this is more focused on the girl which is now a cousin of the guy, romance between the two is kaput but instead it gained lots of characters and cute animals. It's a really calm and relaxing slice of life that really makes you want to live in one of those nature-immersed japanese villages with its nice calm places where nothing really happens.

It's a hostile and merciless world, where one can easily be swept away by elements beyond their control, where one can be betrayed at any moment by their surroundings, where one's life can easily be in shambles due to others actions, yet one has to rely on others in order to survive.
Human society? No, err, yes, but not really. It's the world of mountain climbing. Our protagonist, ostracized by his entourage, discovers one day the world of climbing, with all the risks and wonders attached to it, and quickly develop an affinity for it. Unable to live in the world of humans, he slowly turns towards the world of mountains.
Here begins the legend of the solo climber, Mori Buntarou.
An incredibly gorgeous manga, Kokou no Hito offers stunning art that not only captures perfectly the majesty of mountains, but also the hardships one may face during the climb, and is extremely competent at depicting the various feelings and thoughts the characters experience. The spreads in particular are breathtaking in not only the level of detail and scale, but also in the emotions they convey.
One interesting thing is the contrast, but also the similarities, between the human world and the mountains, from the perspective of an introverted man, who constantly feels betrayed and powerless in society, who feel free and in control of his own destiny within the mountains. The manga also puts a big emphasis on one's emotions, positive or negative, that are laid bare during a climb, and how they can clash or influence one's actions and aspirations, sometimes for the worse.
More than facing mountains and their perils, more than a simple sports manga, Kokou no Hito is the tale of a man's struggle against society and loneliness, of a man's search for a place to belong.

Can't even imagine a manga like Yotsuba being written under stressful conditions. Hope he finds a good assistant... And on that note, I hope Togashi finally decides to look for at least one when he finally decides to put down DQ. :I

Pokemon Adventures Vol. 27
For all the grief I have over how stupid Emerald looks, and really he does, this arc is pretty exciting. The Battle Frontier was always the best and Gamefreak was stupid to drop it out of ORAS and I'm enjoying the nice use of old characters in this arc.
The battles are well done, Emerald is an interesting character and the backstory and how this arc ties with the overall story is something we don't see anymore in Adventures.

If it wasn't for Hana, I would find the work to be a little misogynistic. I was told such portrayal of women was pretty common in his previous works.

Raku is one of the best in the genre. Up there with Shido (DAL) for me.
