Indefinitely delayed means there is a high chance sony will cancel it.

Make it 10 out of 12 gaas trash cancelled under Herman. While he still has a job. Just incredible job security. Phil and Herman must have some sex tapes on the board members.

Well, they outlined a specific set of changes. My guess is, Sony will let them make those changes and then re-evaluate. Which imo is a mistake, they shouild cancel it. The feedback was likely totally disastrous.

aztecceoss said that people inside the industry told him that Sony was into going to let bugie die. it's an ego thing he said.

odds are against Bungie tho
They should. They've been an utter embarrassment. A waste of more than 3 billion dollars.

Hulst can parade around Astro Bot all he likes. He's stained this generation with too many decisions like this one. What a disaster.

The worst acquistion in gaming history by a very wide margin.

My best is that Bungie won't even be around by 2028, it will vanish into thin air and their shamaless execs will leech SIE for a bit longer.

Canceling the game at this point likely isn't an option. There is some element of sunk cost fallacy, but I think if you can deliver the game most people thought it would be, it'll have at least a decent chance at making some money back while they pivot to Destiny 3.

They need to remind themselves of what put them on the map.

People are overreacting to a delay that happens even to single player games. It may or may not work out for them, but it's the right step more devs need to do rather than just shoving something out that they know needs more work.

Damn they actually gonna work on solo play and Proximity chat.
I never ever thought they will forgo their proximity chat philosophy. Probably will copy Arc Raiders.

Still gonna be a laughing stock. The next trailer this games needs to put needs to be MINDBLOWING.

It wont be a short delay. If they are going to show what they got in the fall and then a beta, it doesn't sound like a late 2025 release where they delay it a couple months in time for December Xmas sales.

Sounds like a 2026 game.

But for those of you who predicted a delay, you were right. Especially if you predicted it before the stolen art issue which made the situation worse.

I told people that during the Sony Business Strategy Meeting, the fact that they kept saying "fiscal year" instead of September, that it meant they had already planned to delay it.

Luke Stephens is a YT grifter. This is zero confirmation that the game isn't delayed. If anything it sounds more likely that it IS delayed.

Rather than say, this game is launching in September, they said it is launching this fiscal year. Meaning that they're more likely no longer looking at that September date and if the game is delayed, even with them saying this fiscal year, it could be delayed further out.

That being said, I don't really have faith in Bungie to fix this. They seem pretty tone deaf.

There are only a few paths they can take with Marathon, but Bungie isn't shutting down.

They can keep the current release date and simply ride things out to their natural outcome, they could delay the game and try and fix it, or they can cancel the game.

We're nearing 106 days until launch day. I imagine that a decision will need to be made pretty soon about how to move forward on this.

The cost between now and launch day is probably about 10 million dollars. They have to decide if they're going to move forward with a sunk cost fallacy (which ironically Naughty Dog decided against) or if they'll cut bait to try and limit reputational damage.

If you plan to stick with the launch date, you presumably still need a public beta in August/early September. With Destiny 2 they released an open beta announcement trailer on July 6th, exactly 2 months before release. So if they have a similar pattern here, we'd expect that announcement no later than July 23rd. So we have 44 days until then.

I'd imagine we'll her about a delay or cancellation within the next month.

Good, the changes they've listed also sound promising but it doesn't seem like the game will come out this year. In any case, good on them for really putting in the effort.

The fact that it happened after the alpha test and they had announced a release date is the worrying part
