March Wrasslin Thread: Road to WrestleMania

None of the matches have lasted more than 15 minutes. I'm kinda glad I'm not paying for this horirble PPV.

Even the UX match is gonna suck. I can feel it.

Wow, what an awful tag match.

Countout in a no DQ match?

Why does Jay Lethal still continue with this Macho Man persona? Its so damn old and annoying.

Terrible PV.

Worst PPV of the year confirmed. There's something very wrong when ODB god-awful segment gets more time than wrestling matches.

The better the talent got at TNA, the worse the shows got.
Ehhhhh... that needs modified.

The BIGGER NAME talent they got, the worse the shows got.
TNA started out as an alternative to WWE, now they are copying what they did in the past.

Problem is that it's working.... they're making money, their ratings are higher and their live gates are higher than they've ever been. (Not really saying much)

TNA is a company of extremes.
When it's good, it's REALLY good. (all of 2005 and most of 06)
When it's bad, it's REALLY bad. (NOW)
TNA has never been as good as the competition. Not back when they were trying to be ROH, and especially not now when they are trying to be WWE. Why Russo still has a job is beyond me.

Got any links? I would love to see just how well they are doing.

From a wrestling standpoint, they most certainly were. You knew when you got a PPV, you'd get your money's worth.

Well, they're making a profit... but how much is a question since they are a private company. They reveal nothing.

For the record.... Russo isn't the one making these booking decisions. It's Dutch Mantell and Jarrett. Mantell is the real problem.

He's such a diehard for "memphis style", but it just doesn't fly.

I don't have beef with it stylistically as much as I do with the format of their weekly shows, they have a 2 hour show and you'll be lucky to get a half hour of wrestling. Which wouldn't be THAT bad if the PPVs were worth a damn, it's not like WWE is really pumping out quality matches on Raw.

When TNA was brand new, I got a few of the weekly PPVs and those weren't bad at all. That feels like so long ago though.

Their FSN days were really good. It was focused on just the wrestling and it was a great change of pace.

They've got some MAJOR problems now with their 2 hour shows. Youre completely right.
I want more wrestling and less blah blah bullshit.

so i haven't watched or followed wrestling in years, and i was bored this weekend and one of the HD channels was showing a repeat of RAW and...wtf is Eddie Guerrero's wife doing on the show?

Man, watching these WrestleMania recaps makes you realize how insanely bland the product is nowadays. WrestleMania 15 was so awesome. I remember watching that shit with my best buds in Texas.

I *haven't* stopped watching wrestling since I was a wee lad and I *still* don't know why the fuck she's on the show.

Hulk is out with back surgery, so I'm guessing he won't be facing Jericho. Austin isn't coming back. Obviously they would have probably done something by now if they were going to hype a Jericho vs. legend match, maybe there's an outside shot at Hulk but I don't think so. Apparently Vince has someone lined up though.

TNA will never pick up their act. Ever. I stopped hoping and will most likely stop watching for good. Dixie Carter is dense.

My only hope for any competition in the states is ROH. I hope their TV show catches on fire eventually.

Is Russo still over there?

Tis a shame HD Net isn't carried everywhere (I have Comcast). I'd totally watch that shit if I could.

Yeah, he is. Jarrett books the show and then gives the script to Russo so Russo could make it for television.

Russo/Jarrett/Mantell are such a cancer to the wrestling industry. Meh.

Okay that answers it ... Snuka/Steamboat/Piper vs. Jericho. Meh.

I hate what they have done with Kane. He could have been so much more than what he is right now... I dunno, whenever I look at Kane, I see a LOT of wasted potential.

Well, just write to your local Comcast station. Maybe they'll end up putting HDNET on Comcast after an out pouring of support for the product. =p

I wish. I'm in a huge market, too (San Francisco). I'd totally give up my privilege to watch WWE/TNA for the right to watch ROH.

Wow, I never thought Russo would have survived over there this long.

I thought WM XV was pretty bad outside the main event. A Tag Title match literally thrown together minutes before the show, Roaddog fighting for the IC Title and Mr. Ass for the Hardcore Title (when they had been going for the opposite titles leading up to the event), the horrendous HITC match, the Brawl for All finals, etc. In fact, it maybe be worse than I remember.

Is it just me or does this look like one of the most uninspired Wrestlemania's ever?

Orton vs. Triple H match - not that hard on this match versus others opinions, probably the best build of all the matches, even with the over the top ridiculousness, and even though its been done before at least this feud has a little bit of heat to it

Show vs. Cena vs. Edge - clusterfuck uselessness of a match, wasting both Edge and Cena in an unmemorable 3 way match that EVERYONE hates at Wrestlemania, with a stupid Vickie Guerrero angle

Taker vs. HBK - should have Superfight type of feel to it, but WWE procrastinating for several weeks over making this match because they couldn't think of anything to do with the buildup makes it seem like undercard unimprotant fodder

Hardy vs. Hardy - Matt Hardy as a heel. Sucks. Enough said. We could have had Jeff Hardy in a title match or something here, yet he's wasted for a stupid brother vs. brother heel turn thats already been done before, and was only done because of Vince McMahon's obsession with trying to outsmart the 'internet' fans just because it was completely obvious to everyone that Christian was going to be put in Matt Hardy's spot.

Jericho vs. Legends - great buildup of Jericho as a heel for several weeks, completely fizzles out as WWE apparently couldn't come to terms with Austin, Rourke, or the Immortal Hulk Hogan for this match. Now it becomes an unnoticed sideshow match that legends are occasionally involved in on RAW whenever they decide to. Nothing special at all about this one.

Money in the Bank - standard every year spot match, but this year the field doesn't have an obvious winner and Kane, Henry, and Finlay being involved make the match pretty weak.

I just don't see it, pretty uninspired Wrestlemania with really thrown together matchups. They could have built Jeff Hardy to win the Royal Rumble and take on Cena for the title at Wrestlemania, yet they waste it on a useless Armageddon PPV no one cares about. They could have started building stuff up a long time ago, but were too lazy to.

I'm watching some tonight after having been out of the loop for a while. Well, I've heard and seen a little here and there. It's sad. I was a wrestling fan for the better part of my life, but it's been brutal to watch for a while now.

If someone would be kind enough to answer...what's the deal with Vicki Guerrero? Are they employing her as a favor to the family or something? She's god-awful.

And another question - what's the deal with Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr.? Did they not inherit an ounce of the charisma their fathers had? Why is the WWE packaging them so generically?

Hope this doesn't sound too negative...I really do love wrestling...

is Vince making her work off Eddie's contract or something? From what i saw it almost seemed like she was supposed to be Edge's love interest or something. WTF is going on here?!?
