I actually wish that all the tracks, normal and mirror, were part of the voting pool. Rather than having to a separate tourney, I mean.

The gaf tournament is useless. Every time I join, there are four or less players. It's either broken or no one is playing.

Just left and rejoined. One dude in the room. Guess it's time for worldwide play.

Whoops, communication error. That's fine, I wanted to change away from Larry anyway, I didn't think at the time what a difference being such a lightweight would really make.

How the hell do you guys stay out front? I mean, I can get into 2nd/3rd place for a while and then just get bombarded with shells and all sorts, then i'm scrapping at the back for the rest of the race. Gets me down!

So question: When playing local multiplayer Gran Prix, how does the game determine if you get a trophy or not? Does just one of the people playing need to make it to the top three after all the races?

Pray you get something other than a coin. Pray someone doesn't fire off a blue shell. Pray you don't get struck by lightning over a pit.

To be fair, I do make costly errors at times but there's no breathing room at the front. it's intense. I don't think I can handle the pressure.

Anyway, I'm done for tonight, my brain hurts but the GAF Tourney was a good laugh when it wasn't dropping out. Good times.

There was something special about two Kongs yelping side by side with golden mushrooms before both exploding to bits due to a bob-omb, a memory I will cherish.

Would playing other Mario Karts help me understand this game's battle mode or method of unlocking characters? No.

In GPs, your best bet is to drive flawlessly. At any point, you should expect a barrage of items from behind. Not even the fastest AI driver can catch up with you after a blue shell if you have a sizeable lead.

In multiplayer? Pray to the gods that you get a horn, and if you do, don't waste it, and more importantly, pray that nothing makes you lose it.

Another thing that helps is controlling when you are hit. When you're coming up on a jump and can already hear the shell coming, you have to gauge whether you think you can make it across before you're hit, and if not, take the hit before you jump. Also, in some instances, you're not slowed down to a complete stop after you're hit, or can at least recuperate more quickly.

Get good, try to keep 10 coins at all times, hold useful items, and hope for the best.
