Another vote for Durand, even if we are just fan casting. I've been a huge fan of him since he played Keamy in Lost.

Fairly competent actor, built like a brick shithouse and could stare a black bear into submission.

He also played one of the most hilarious characters in the mediocre yet incredibly funny Smokin' Aces.

I just want to see him doing something with more substance than his character in The Strain. He's also probably cheap and in the right age bracket.

I... don't see it.

Durand is good actor, but I think he's too tall for the role. One of the very few ways you can make human villains seem like a threat to Punisher is by making them tower over Frank. That was true for Kingpin, Baracuda, Russian etc. I don't think there's any actor (well... a good one at least) who could tower over Durand :D

I wonder how busy Sullivan Stapleton will be once he's done with Strike Back.

I don't know why people are (sight unseen) assuming that this Daredevil show will so much darker, grittier than anything Marvel has done to date.

These Netflix/Marvel shows are being done by Marvel's internal TV division at ABC Studios, the very same people who are responsible for the utter pish that is Agents Of Shield. I've heard (anecdotally) some say that they expect them to be 'R rated' affairs which I just don't get.

I'm not saying that 'ye should abandon all hope' but I am saying that there is a certain amount of expectation around these shows that I just don't see coming to fruition at all.

After the 300 sequel hit I imagine that he'll be pretty busy..., or at least too busy for a Marvel show on Netflix.

Probably that interview in which someone associated with the shows said that Daredevil will be darker and grittier than the movies. Of course it's open to interpretation, but that's what we have to go on for now.

The only quote I've seen about it being darker and grittier was saying that it would be darker and grittier than the Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck. That's not exactly a high bar. They've said that compared to Marvel films which are "in the air", the Netflix shows will be "street level", but that's just a setting. I don't think they've ever suggested that it's going to be really violent or bleak.

So Karen Page probably won't become a heroin addicted porn star that contracts AIDS?

Affleck's movie was still a lot darker than anything Marvel has done to this point.

I believe when the Netflix deal was first announced Marvel said it would allow them to produce some content that was slightly more mature than their films. I wouldn't expect nudity but I wouldn't be surprised with some additional language and violence.

What story beats does a Daredevil show need to hit?

We need Elektra (subsequent death?), Bullseye (rivalry?), The Hand/Stick, Fisk (of course), what else?

Will we see Black Widow and Daredevil shacking up?

They definitely need to do The Devil in Cell Block D. Maybe Season 4... if they actually can make it that far.

They also need to integrate one of the greatest moments of Waid's run.

Heroes are only born out of tragedy? Yeah, right.

That was a pretty great moment. But I don't think they'd ever incorporate Rachel into DD and Frank isn't the type to say something like that.

Well, they'd put someone else instead of Rachel. Although a Punisher backdoor pilot featuring Frank and Rachel would be bad ass.

How is this resolved?

After a lot of screaming and pleading he ultimatelly decided to shoot the Punisher. Of course Frank removed the pin from the gun, so it doesn't work and the mobster gets killed. Punisher says this should be enough of a lesson, knocks Daredevil out and leaves him unchained.

Overall, while I vastly prefer Punisher outside of Marvel universe, the way Ellis handled Punisher interactions with superheroes was just plain brilliant.

I actually can't stand how Punisher steamrolls over the other superheroes when they enter his book. The pages you're showing are fine, but he has made fools of Spider-man, Daredevil, and especially Wolverine, and none of it belongs in the canon. The Wolverine stuff from Ennis's run is especially gross and annoying.

Meh. He gets kicked around by them in pretty much every other book. I mean...remember Daredevil vs Punisher? They had like 5 fights in this mini and Frank not even one camed on top. Let him have couple victories at least in his own comic. And come on...putting Wolvie into acid and blowing his testicles were hilarious.

AoS is kind of weird in that regard. S1 had some of the most brutal scenes of the entire MCU while trying to keep it family friendly, which marred the quality and tone of the show.
