This is my problem with comics. Why can't they let major characters truly move on to a new status quo without resetting everything? Give them a son or daughter and build them up as the new stars, inherent the books, whatever, but please stop taking the same person back to an ancient setup all over again. It's cyclical to the point of nausea.

The fact that they're specifically saying he's going back to the Bugle in a "mysterious capacity" and making sure to point out that he's NOT going back to being a photographer should tell people that while yes, they're putting Peter back in a more familiar element, this isn't about resetting anything to a status quo.
A few people have called it in this thread but if the twist is that Peter is now the owner of the Bugle, that is a new direction for the character that allows him to grow while also acting as an homage to his most well-known career.
