I haven't seen him play lately (didn't watch the stream last night) so i'm not entirely sure about how true this is, but he's probably doing dash then sjc tri jump.

Maybe but he was doing it so fast it was so hard to tell.

Bummer that Maximillian dropped his Iron Man for Doom. I really liked that team, especially with the all black costumes. I am surprised there aren't that many good Iron Mans out there, he is totally a solid character.
 
FYI Maximilian, you can dash-cancel the sj.S in those corner footstomp combos. It doesn't really change the combo, but it makes the timing on the OTG less tight.

Yeah that seems like what he is doing, his second seemed to come off a bit off the ground. It's still sick how he does it at that speed.

I didn't see the stream, does he let the dash move forward a bit first? Jumping out of it immediately doesn't get real far.
 
I fell asleep before last night's Wednesday Night Fights was over, but between the stream archives and youtube I caught the rest this morning. What other weekly streams are there besides WNF? They mentioned something about a tournament that's on Mondays and another that's on Tuesdays but I didn't catch the name/URL for them.

Also I think I can retire my SF4 pad and just use my bat top/oct TE stick on this game from now on. This might be the first time I actually don't do worse at a game on a stick!

Clockwork may have lost that game but he probably learned something new. He has been upgrading his game with that team, all 3 characters of his were significantly better.

Nice Chris play in the tournament by Combofiend. A lot of Magneto with Sentinel assist in this tournament though. People are getting the Magneto technology down now, resets, cross ups, mix ups, mini-ROMs... it was getting really MVC2 up in there.

She actually has a lot of health if you activate healing field. Was fighting some guy online and she survived one of my full combos with the field active, pretty solid!

Fortunately, Magneto still plays pretty different from what he was like in mvc2 and he's usually pretty fun to watch.
 
So for doing things like Magneto's air dash cancels, is using the buttons for the dash better than using the stick, or is it just a preference thing?

The buttons. Always the buttons. On the ground, you want to use buttons so you can wave dash better too.
 
Wow. I just got Jill and Shuma last night and I got to say they are fucking great! Jill especially. Lots of speed and full screen rushdown with her. Her x-factor speed is competitive with X-23 for speed blasting and with her QCB hyper on top of that X-factor it makes her so fast it's just about uncontrollable. Quite possibly the best high pressure and versatile offense since Phoenix.

Haven't done much with Shuma yet. His inputs take some getting used to, but I see a lot of potential.

Thing is with my reaction time + online lag, I usually end up eating the sword mid jump.

I have to dash using buttons using she hulk, if not I'll get her summersault after my dash instead of an air throw.

I can't give a very good explanation for why, but I'm pretty sure the mvc2 and mvc3 pros use the buttons exclusively for dashing. On a stick it's certainly faster than double-tapping.

Wave dashing with (2 buttons, Down, 2 buttons) Is generally easier for most, and has less change to make you mistakedly cancel into fireballs and such, than (down, forward, forward, down, forward, forward), etc.

For IAD, I also generally find (db, up-foward, 2 buttons) much easier than (db, uf, f), though I think that ones kinda interchangeable for many.
 
Only ~25% of my matches on Ranked today have featured Sentinel. I'm a bit perplexed.

307 matches in and still no Combat Specialist achievement. Where do all those 1st Lords hide?

Button dash is instant (1 frame). Double tapping on either stick or pad would take longer even if your execution was light-speed (press, release, press = at least 3 frames) and in reality it'll always take a bit longer than that.

Generally the only time you shouldn't use button dash is if it causes command overlap problems and would result in an unwanted special move or something.

So I've had this game since about launch and my win rate is like W30/L70, and just about all of my losses are from cheese tactics online, and I really wanted that 5 win streak trophy, so I replaced Chris in my Task/Chris/Spencer team with Sentinel and holy hell he's a goddamn beast. All I did was spam his alpha assist and Task's H.Shots, with a little bit of BIONIC-ARRMMSS for good measure and I got the trophy from my 1st attempt.

Anyways, I won't be using this fucker anymore since it annoys me and everyone else (I got hate mail calling me a fag lol), plus he's no fun,and I won't play ranked anymore either. But Capcom should really nerf this son of a bitch, seriously ;(
 
Has anybody ever ripped those little character model icons from the game, from either Mission Mode or the License Cards? They'd be good resources to have (and they'd make nice avatars).

Chris is also infinitely harder to use. One of the harder chars to use, imo.

if you his sent during the assist the drones disappear. i wish doom missiles worked the same way.

Thanks much. Hmm, it should be in widescreen naturally. Try switching to 480p, my friend told me he was seeing some weird cropping too.
 
Zero's a really fun character to play, and I think his basic air combo is the coolest looking one in the game. But god damn is his damage output low. And his health. I don't think I can win with him unless I get seriously good at OTG/relaunch combos.

Fair enough. Should've been obvious in retrospect. I don't have any problems doing things like Magneto's basic air dash loops using the stick for dashes, but I can see how things like the Rom combo and other things involving uf or df dashes and stuff would be hard, and it's probably a good idea to be consistent across the board on how I execute things.

Fucker already takes off 70% of my health in a single combo.

I have to do my tron combo + 3 dhc to achieve that. Though I do love that one, opponent might as well put the controller down for a bit during it.

i just personally find it easier to get in a rhythm using the buttons to dash. like, alternating between LM and H.

think i am going to put magneto to the back of my team and work more on my other characters. ive been neglecting many others cause ive just been so into mag combos and shit. lmao.

also, taskmaster has to be one of magnetos worst match ups. got completely mauled (again) by taskmaster last night. Not entirely sure what do versus him except maybe play a character with a teleport.

Play him. Not that he doesn't trash talk, but no matter what gave I've played with him he backs up his shit pretty well.

He's harder to use true for sure, but if you can't get 5 ranked wins in a row, you just have bad fundamentals.

I think the bad thing about that is, even taskmasters up close game isn't bad and he has really good throw/air throw range too or it seems like he does.

I would pretty much say that Taskmaster might be one of the most well rounded of all the chars. Does he really have any glaring negatives?
