Mass Effect 2/3 now Backward Compatible on Xbox One

I hope this doesn't mean a cancellation of ME remasters...

I sold my whole 360 ME trilogy when EA said they were open to remasters again just cause i thought they would remaster them...but

They were never really announced, so they can't be canceled, can they?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's free on Xbox one, but a gold feature on 360 so technically you'd need gold to transfer it once.

Ya I think you might be correct. the 360 cloud save page says you need Gold but the XB1 page says you don't (probably true just for X1 content)

So ya, I guess you DO need Gold to stash your 360 save

Well I guess I should start looking for all three of these games and their DLC to go on sale. I see ME1 is $20 digital, so I guess I should get it physical since the other two will have to be physical as well.

Confirmation that the trilogy on 360 will not work on the Xbox?

I regret selling all of my 360 games back when this gen started. especially for games that aren't available digitally

They offer a new version of the Mass Effect Trilogy physical edition for $29 on Amazon if you want to go that route. Or you can probably get lucky and find each game individually used for $5-6 and save a few bucks.

You would still have to buy each game's DLC though...they never made "GOTY" style discs for ME2 or 3

What i mean to say is, i hope whatever possible plans they may have had are not shelved.

That was a bold move.

It was, but i did the same to my KH 1.5 and 2.5 collections a few months ago because Tai Yasue was making noises in a PS4 remaster direction, and it ended up being the case.

I sold my 360 and all of my games when this gen started, and the only game that I truly regret getting rid of is the Mass Effect series. I got an XBO during the Target glitch and decided just the other day to buy the trilogy in the hopes that 2 and 3 would eventually join 1 with BC.

This news made my day. Can't wait to jump back in!

The only news that would have been better is remasters, but I can live with the general improvements that most BC games have seen.

Hmm, never did do a playthrough of the entire series since I had a PS3 back then and so started with 2. It'd be neat to go through them all, though not sure when I'd get to it with some of the upcoming releases. Still, great to see them adding more good titles to the BC catalog.

"Do I need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to use cloud storage?
No. Anyone who is signed up for the Xbox Live service can synchronize their saved games to the cloud."

Then again this page says yes(?)...idk then lol

You don't need gold for XB1 saves, you do need them for 360. Or the other way around, but I think I got it right :P The 360 is also limited to 2gb I believe? while the XB1 is unlimited.

Nah I think you got it right! So unfortunately people with 360 DO need gold to stash the saves in the cloud, but once there they won't need gold to access them on XB1. So a trial should(?) work I hope

I'll still keep asking for a remaster with all DLC included.

But this can keep me busy for the time being. Well, either that or finally biting the bullet and going to PC with graphics mods...

Seriously, though, EA...

Ummm so I checked my ready to install to redownload the first game and 2 and 3 were there as well. They are installing right now. Any ideas on how I have them?

I adore this series, don't get me wrong. But I am so soured on ME3's ending I don't think I can ever look back. That shit still hurts. Best I not reopen the wound.

EDIT: welp, now that they're available in the EA vault I may...

We just did this conversation on Page 1. Where were you?

Spoiler Alert: Emulation was improved across all backward compatible games in September's update. Mass Effect runs noticeably better now.
I'd only seen performance improvements for games that had gotten them specifically like Gears of War and Halo, no mention of improvements to Mass Effect 1. I hope you're right

Hell yeah. Time for some ME3 multiplayer definitely going to be running Gold all tomorrow evening with my brother.
