Mass Effect 2/3 now Backward Compatible on Xbox One

Is there no disc swapping? How does it stop you from handing your second disc from the set to a friend?

Was just thinking of re-starting the Mass Effect trilogy, so that works out fine for me. I don't need to boot up the 360.

How does save transfer work between games in BC?

Works exactly the same and perfectly.

I have one issue though. Aren't Mass Effect saves fucking HUGE?! How will that work with the cloud...

I used to play saving as new saves all the time.

Yep, I wouldn't be surprised if the reason why there isn't a remaster is because EA make far more money off of selling the DLC than they could a remaster.

It cost me £60 in 2013, which back then was around $90 converted, to buy all the ME2 and ME3 DLC. It's a gravey train for EA lol

It would be interesting to see the broad impact of BC on sales of titles and their respective DLC.

Maybe its finally time to unplug my 360, any important game that isnt BC or remastered aside from Mark of the Ninja?

BEST N7 news Ever!!!!

Between this two games being BC and Skyrim SE and the Mod community; we have a ton of gameplay to go through. Man, a great time to be a gamer... and, yeah thank you MS, EA and Bioware for listening and complying to gamers petitions. A great time to own an Xbox One.

Where's the best price for the DLC? I've got the games on Steam and as discs for PS3 and the 360. I wanted to replay this anyway, but have never bought any of the DLC. DLC prices will decide where I'll be playing :)

Treat this as a way to show tangible support for a Mass Effect trilogy remaster. If EA/BioWare see the thirst for ME on current consoles, it might help get a remaster made.

Awesome! I may finally be able to beat ME2/3.
Questions though...
1. I don't have ME1 anymore, but I believe the save is on the cloud. Would ME2 be able to recognise that?

2. Are all of the dlcs available for BC?

3. ...Is there going to be a sale for the dlc? One of the biggest turn offs for playing ME2/3 for me. Feels like playing the dlc is quite neccessary for the story, and it'll cost a bomb to get it all.

... It is. Some of that DLC is nigh-essential stuff.

Worth it, though.

Or they'll think it's enough to satisfy. EA is weird sometimes (most times).

I mean, heck yeah I'll play them on current consoles, and I'll continue to kick up a storm for a proper remaster with all content too.

You hear me, EA?! THIS ISN'T OVER!

I think the big question here is, and will really drive all ME fans over the edge... has BC improved the elevator load time? This needs to be determined, I use a external SSD drive recommended by DF, I hoping for some miracles (fingers crossed).

Great news! Just in time to avoid paying for Trilogy.
Time to replay my favorite saga of all time and to get those remaining achievements.

It's kinda weird how the digital versions only work through EA Access, and if you don't have it you can't buy the digital versions, you need the discs.

Wait, I just realized. So we can't download the Extended Cut anymore right??? Cause I played the PS3 version and downloaded it there.

EDIT: Well I'm an idiot. I had to search for it separately. Sorry everyone. Glad it's still free!

Goddammit. Just downloaded Mass Effect 3, tried to load it up and got a message "This game might not be playable yet".

Time for a hard reboot.

EDIT: Hard reboot fixed it, loading up Mass Effect 3 to check the online multiplayer now!

It's kinda weird how the digital versions only work through EA Access, and if you don't have it you can't buy the digital versions, you need the discs.

I suspect the system they have on the Xbox One for disc-switching doesn't retroactively work on the 360 and Microsoft doesn't want to sell digital 360 games that won't also work on the 360.

Because EA Access is your license that's all it needs to check for.

Since you can't buy it digital yet, you can't play it digitally because you don't actually have a license. Why isn't it for sale yet? I have to assume they're running into issues getting it up and running on an actual xbox 360. Remember the emulator is removing the need for multiple discs, I'm guessing they will push out an update to the xbox 360 OS to handle it the same way the emulator does before they put the games up for sale.

I guess technically they should be able to put it up for XB1 only but then they might run into licensing issues (having 2 licenses for the same game) when they do eventually make it available on the 360 - which they will so it can go on GWG etc.

(Note that I'm just guessing and have no idea why it's not, but it makes a little sense to me, at least)

So this was kind of what I was getting at by asking if it was an API issue. I assumed that there's a technical reason they can't sell multi disc games on the 360 marketplace because otherwise more of them would be on there. What I wasn't sure of is why they can't figure out a way to sell digital multi disc 360 games on just the Xbox One store.

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...Goddamn online pass bollocks

EDIT: Go to manage game > install all the additional content and the online pass is in there somewhere. Gonna give the multiplayer a whirl right now

BTW with multi disc games being played on Xbox One all you need is 1 disc to play the whole game. You'll never need to swap discs. Just in case anyone was wondering...

Downloading both right now and I was pleased to see I have all the DLC already save for two pieces for Me3 but I'll grab those later once I get to playing the game. I played me1 again when it went backwards compatible so I already have a save file ready to take into me2.

What a glorious day. Between this and Skyrim I'm quite a happy gamer.
