without spoiling, how is this ending like?

is it a good conclusion to the story but played bad or is the lore for the ending just straight up completely not fitting for the story?

HALO 2 ending? like they just leave it open ended?

Not like Halo 2, but it's both bad for the lore and not fitting.

Is it normal to have 1-2 Reapers on the galaxy map that arnet attached to any nebulas of any kind?
Im also wondering if every nebula has assets. I have a few that dont show percentages and, when I run the scanner through then, Im finding jack squat.

Yeah some of the clusters only show percentages after you start scanning. That whole mechanic was annoying as hell.

Is that why i am stuck on loading screen for ages when i try to connect to MP? lol
Going through with almost max upgrades at lvl 57, it's not hard at all, just tedious as fuck. This is pretty par the course with Bioware games though.

Okay. I'm at the PONR. My total military strength is like 7,000. Effective is around 3,500 (can't play multi since my PC is having Internet troubles). I think my reputation bar is full. Anything else I need to know?

You wont get the "good" ending without at least another 500 more rep.

Same here. He's been on every mission with me since ME1. He's even more awesome than ever in 3.

He's accompanied me on every single mission in the game. I gave him the Particle Rifle and he's godlike with it. Great character. He's such a bro, and he's so versatile in combat.

Yea, seemed to be a few Reapers over a cluster you can't access it, I noticed a few dots that I could hover over and see when travelling by Mass Relay and was waiting for them to open but they just ended up with a Reaper icon over it.
Would assume they are just places they took out and just didn't remove the Reaper bit.

And yea, some clusters don't have percentages because there is nothing to find, usually big mission ones.

chose the renegade option and still saved them both.

You wanna look at the Effective Military Strength.

I thought you were talking about rep. Is 3,500 EMS enough?

Not a save editor. The best thing to do is to get a save from before you get any war asset, remember the name, use an editor to modify your coalesced file and change the starting strength of that item to something like 5000 from whatever it is and you never have to worry about playing MP to increase your percentages.

make sure to back up your old bin file if you do this

Not if you want the "good" ending
which is really just a 5 second clip after the ending depending on what choice you make
 
Could anyone give me a list of decisions that imported on a ME3 vanilla file?

Im on the PS3 and the only option I have to change things up is to play through 2 again and I dont think I have the patience.

Some people bad mouth it here, but I literally cannot think of a better way to end the trilogy. It just really works.

Mass Effect 2 lets you make key decisions but there is no such option in Mass Effect 3.

I've already beaten it, Im just looking to try my hand at the other options.

I started one immediately. It was pretty severe at the start but it's getting easier as I gear up and level up. (and get smarter) I am just after the
diplomat session with Wrex and the Dalatrass

It's challenging but pretty satisfying when you beat a fight.

Cerberus are no joke on Insanity.

I wouldn't play it on anything less otherwise it would be pretty easy and boring (I've really grinded on the Mass Effect games, all on Insanity)

Does New Game+ keep all Mass Effect 1/2 choices if you imported? I'm really only interested in playing through ME3 again just so I can have less dead people from ME2.

After that, open up the savegame (With the editor) that you want to edit. Go to Raw. Then expand Plot. Go to Plot again (below "ME1 plot." Expand it. Click on Bool Variables, then click "..." next to it. Great, a bunch of numbers popped up. What do they mean? Well, use the list below, set to true/false as it says, and you'll get the desired effect! Enjoy!

Well okay they could have got Sammy Davis Jr's ghost to tap-dance and sing through the credits.

Dunno, I was expecting something a bit naff from the comments I read here but was pleasantly surprised. The spectacle of the final half hour was brilliant, the final choices were tough to make and
I thought the true purpose of the reapers was compelling.

Plus they used
Das Melefitz
for the credit song.

both the Geth and the Quarians? I fucked up and Tali died. Got a save that goes back an hour or so, but would quite like to have them both.

That's what I meant. You don't have to have a completed ME2 career for it to be imported into 3. You can just whip up a Shep that let Wrex live for Mass Effect 2, then immediately import it into 3.

What class? My first playthrough was on insanity. I thought it was mostly easy using my ME1 -> ME2 -> ME3 Infiltrator. There were only a handful of extremely difficult encounters. What I hated the most was dying and getting re-spawned into the line of fire.

Okay guys, since I'll somehow make a mistake and highlight one of the spoilers, I'll try to be careful.

That being said.

So I know that transferring PC saves to Xbox is possible, but is there a risk for ban or anything for using those transferred saves? I recall people modding their FFXIII saves with Modio or something and getting either banned or getting their gamescores reset for 'cheating', so I'm a bit wary on this.

Mostly I plan to play ME1PC > ME2PC > ME3 Xbox, this can be done now, right?

It's challenging but pretty satisfying when you beat a fight.

Cerberus are no joke on Insanity.

I wouldn't play it on anything less otherwise it would be pretty easy and boring (I've really grinded on the Mass Effect games, all on Insanity)

I think the hardest part for Cerberus are the engineers, but i am much more afraid of banshee.

What class? My first playthrough was on insanity. I thought it was mostly easy using my ME1 -> ME2 -> ME3 Infiltrator. There were only a handful of extremely difficult encounters. What I hated the most was dying and getting re-spawned into the line of fire.

Was playing infiltrator, but since they remove the slow down effect i couldn't snipe anything effectively (until i actually buy mod for concentration) D:

But i was thinking starting a adept or engineer for my insanity run with my ME2 import (since I can't change class with ME3 import).

Yeah, I posted a "tutorial" on how to convert saves to the Xbox. Whether it is kosher is a fairly grey area though, but if I ever replay the game, I want to be able to do it on my own terms.

That section falls into my, 'Handful of difficult encounters' category.

I played most of the game with concentration mod + barrel upgrade.

Go there, download the latest version. "But we've already seen this," you reply. Quiet, you sniveling nerd, and watch.

After that, open up the savegame (With the editor) that you want to edit. Go to Raw. Then expand Plot. Go to Plot again (below "ME1 plot." Expand it. Click on Bool Variables, then click "..." next to it. Great, a bunch of numbers popped up. What do they mean? Well, use the list below, set to true/false as it says, and you'll get the desired effect! Enjoy!

What, that's for ME3 saves? Do you break the game if you make Ashley and Kaidan both alive/dead?

I should have done that my first time, hardcore adept is easy as shit.
 
If you start a romance with a new character in the game does it eventually lead to a catfight like in ME2? Wouldn't mind seeing Tali beat up Jessica Chobot...

Just finished it. My spoiler free thoughts on the criticism of the game: (also posted in the spoiler thread, for those who wish to discuss specific spoilery details)

Let's get this out of the way first- the endings are fine. I am completely baffled that there is such a discrepancy amongst fan reactions to this game and the rest of the series. (well, between this and the first really; second seems to be divisive)

First off, the story was only ever decent by video game standards, so the degree of shit that the story is seems like such an insignificant thing to judge the game on in the first place. You can't claim to place such value on stories and somehow find the first amazing without seeming amazingly schizo. (Also a reason I find the discrepancy between the fandom for the first and second weird)

Second, the story in this game is probably the most consistently engaging of any in the series. (Up until the very end, if you want to argue that) It plays off all the choices you've made throughout the series and is integrated with the main plot thread to such a degree that it far surpasses the aimless-wandering-in-the-face-of-imminent-doom feelings the first two games inspired before their climaxes. (I'll admit I am a little bit more partial to political intrigue, so the constant focus on diplomacy in this game would give it an edge over the others in my mind) Even if you think the ending is terrible, this isn't a series like Lost where the narrative quality was always predicated on how each loose end would be tied up. The segments can stand alone. Bottom line, I'll take a story that's 99% (and the very end is probably even a smaller fragment of the narrative than that) great over something like the first, which never particularly grabbed me until the end. (And even the end of the first is pretty terrible in its own right- gigantic info dumps that basically lay all the ground work delivered in two conversations is terrible storytelling. It was more what it set up for that was somewhat interesting)

Third, the symmetry between choices has been present in all three games- strike that, nearly all BioWare games. Your choices almost always affect how you get somewhere, not whether you get there. This outcome symmetry is a valid criticism, don't get me wrong, but it's more a recurring flaw with the studio and not this game in particular.

I still think that 1 to 2 was a bigger jump in quality and that the series is overrated in general, (as nearly all games primarily liked for their stories are) but 3 is still, unequivocally, the best of the series and an enjoyable ending to BioWare's trilogy.
