Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

I can say with certitude that after that catastrophe, I'm done and done with anything new from Bioware. They're dead to me.

If they change the ending I'm not even sure I'll reconsider. With such an agonizing wait for any statements, that's just insulting and shows deep contempt for their player-base. Why are we supporting companies who treats their customers in such a shitty way?

If they truly cared we would already had a good and clear response about the outcry.

I would have rather they trolled Tali fans by making her look like Predator, but the stock photo is fine. Couldn't care less.

Bioware aren't making a statement by having an uber ambiguous ending by the way. That's the mark of a lazy writer. Inception is a good example of an ambiguous ending that's intended to be that way.

ME3's ending is Bioware writing themselves into a corner with all the player choice they implemented.

I have to be fair here and wait until I see how a Bioware game's received before I truly blow off future titles. It does say something though where my interest in pre-ordering ahead of time is killed, it's going to have to look really promising and come with some nice incentive (like Amazon $20 credit, not DLC I'll never use) to make me go "well alright" as otherwise I'd rather wait and see how people LIKE it. And I'm certainly not getting hopes up again for something with choices to make across a continuing series, not unless they dial the budget/technical level back down to Baldur's Gate levels.

Get crazy, get wild...

EDIT: Plus, we can get 30 hours of him and his love interest having mundane drama. YEAAAAAAAAAHHHH BUDDY.

Hahah YEAH BUDDDDDY

So I'm replaying the game, still had another ME1 Shepard to get through the game with. More Renegade than the other one, but only bitchy to the people who deserve it. It's kind of interesting to see how some sidequests have changed, really. The one where you get the Batarian Fleet was different because this one had done Brng Down the Sky in ME1. Where she shot Balak. Repeatedly. That one is probably my favorite Renegade moment in the series.

Also, I took Javik to Tuchanka. Fun! He was almost like a kid at Christmas when he saw the Reaper Destroyer. So now we know what to get Javik: A Reaper and the means to kill it. Easy enough guy to please.

The ending still hovers like a "you know how this will end" shadow over it, but this particular Shepard will pick red, it's not even a question. Sovereign tried to kill her. It blew up. The Geth Heretics tried to kill her. Got blown up. The Collectors were extremely bad at pattern recognition. Got blown up. And now the Reapers are here. Shepard wants big boom.

Why am I seeing it mentioned in several places that your squad mates "magically" disappear after Harbringer blasts the whole task force up at the beam?

In my playthrough I saw the corpses of Garrus and Ashley, badly burnt and bloodied. :S

In the 'best' ending, they were nowhere to be seen.
Also, you know, they magically appear on magical unicorn planet in the ship that was leaving before you left.

Were they magically ok at the end though when the Normandy crash lands on that planet?

Hmmm I love the indoctrination theory. It gives bioware too much credit, but it is the perfect opportunity for BW to have a do-over. And even if they never thought of it, they can still take credit. "Oh yeah, that's what we meant all along."

Allowing her to commit suicide was pretty cool though. And its obvious that Liara is the canon romance, so im sure thats not liked by the Tali fans either. :lol

The Tali romance was something BioWare threw in for the fans for Mass Effect 2. The Garrus romance option was also a concession to the fans.

What about the Liara relationship makes it the canon romance?

Never checked the original leaked ending before today but even that mediocre ending would be better than what we got.

Should have just stuck with it.

Thats what i thought too, but the romance arc in ME3 is so much better for Liara than for Kaidan/Ashley.

well, yeah. Ashley/Kaiden have a cameo in ME2. Liara's role in ME2 is far more significant part of relationship and Shepard's own journey. Shadow Broker DLC adds a lot too.

ME2 was all about a crew that's dtf. Jacob talking about the prize and Jack's whole thing, Kelly's outfit and Garrus telling sex stories.

ME3 was all over the place. On one hand it closes out the Liara relationship; on the other, fuckbots.

I think those were just generic bodies. I went with Javik and Garrus and I didn't see a prothean body anywhere. Funny how Javik exits the Normandy with Joker and Tali.

The ending didn't make a damn bit of sense, because the old man is talking about aliens and such, but there should be plenty of them around since they all got stranded in Sol. All I could do was shake my head. The biggest problem I had was that none of my decisions mattered. What it came down to were three arbitrary options that wasn't connected to anything I did up until that point. Sure, I did make a choice at the very end, but it just didn't feel right.

I expect Bobby to step out the shower at any time....

I just don't understand how the "perfect" destroy ending even makes sense if the section on the Citadel isn't caused by indoctrination. How does Shepard survive the enormous explosion and teleport from the Citadel (which is in orbit) to London?

Can you C&P the post, Please.

Against EA. After reading through the list of promises about the ending of the game they made in their advertising campaign and PR interviews, it was clear that the product we got did not live up to any of those claims. This thread has a great compilation of their claims:
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/10056886

Clearly, none fo these were represented in the ending. If anyone else wishes to file a complaint (the more there are the more likely the FTC will take action) just go to FTC.gov and fill out a complaint form in the Consumer Protection section. Here's EA HQ's address and phone number:
209 Redwood Shores Parkway
Redwood City, CA 94065
(650) 628-1500

This is not somethign I was happy to do, but after the terrible ending that was in no way the product that had been advertised to me and the lack of any kind of response from Bioware/EA to address this, I felt it was one of my only recourses. I'll be returning my copy of the game before the end of my 30 day return policy if the ending still hasn't been addressed by then.

UPDATE: Filed a Better Business Bureau complaint as well. They can be found at BBB.org. The BBB will at the very least notify EA of any complaints they recieve, so every complaint filed is something that EA will hear about.

DISCLAIMER: Before you start debating how dumb I am, let me be clear. THIS IS NOT A LAWSUIT. THIS IS NOT SERIOUS LEGAL ACTION. This is a complaint about EA/Bioware's advertising, filed with the the organizations that handle false advertising in the U.S. As EA is the publisher, they were the appropriate people to complain about. If you don't think that exercising one of the few, civil, legal ways available to hold a company accountable is stupid or immature, that's fine. If somehow (space magic?) they actually decided to do something other than send EA an email about it, there would be a miniscule fine, that's it. There is no way that this could "tear bioware apart" or anything of the sort. If you still think I need to be called stupid or immature, then post away.

So embarrassing.

It's not the first time he's burned through atmosphere only to return to life!

I don't know man... Garrus could easily be mistaken for another Turian, but I'm pretty sure it was Ashley's corpse near the beam. It had the same blue outfit, and the face was almost positively Ashley's.

..I..Must...Hold the lin- LOTS.OF.SPECULATIONS

Also, thinking about it, I'm pissed off because I kept telling my crew we were going to make it, and there was no way for that to happen. I don't care if what we got was the canon ending or not, but I wanted there to be a way to walk away with the prize and have a drink with my crew as we watch the Reapers burn. The other games gave us this, why couldn't this game? Especially if we did everything right.

The one thing I DID like about the ending was the musical crescendo as the camera zoomed out on the Normandy on the jungle planet.

That's actually it.
Yeah, too bad emotional manipulation is all they have to make it feel good. Almost got me to ignore the circuitry on the leaves and everything. So that's what synthesis looks like, huh? What?

Have none of you read the news post? Despite the comic Tycho comes off as neutral (or playing at neutral) in the news post, fascinated by the Indoctrination theories if anything.

I'm not even sure I'd really characterize the comic as mean spirited towards people angry over the ending anyway, I'm just seeing it as a joke about a better ending rather than actually attacking the user base.
