Mass effect makes more sense than any of the rumored titles that people think is the big third party exclusive that's to be revealed......there will be a few meltdowns if true
MS certainly have the cash to splash so anything is possible

I really hope we can definitively put this nonsense to bed after Monday...

Give me a reveal with a 2015 release and a trilogy box set with ALL dlc included for PS4/X1/PC (I wish Wii-U but probably not :( )

People forget that Microsoft published the first game, if they have money to throw around it's not entirely out of the question.
It was a new IP launching on the more successful of the HD consoles at the time. The other games went multiplat, and met with big success.

This situation has nothing in common with the ME1 or Titanfall situations.

As someone who didn't like DA1 at all, and didn't touch DA2, should I even attempt DAI? I played the PC version btw. Didn't like the MMO like quickbar and stuff. I wonder how the console versions played in combat?
Probably not. Combat was basically the same on the console, with the BG (not MMO) inspired quick bar, just smaller.

It's not out of the question but I still think it's hugely unrealistic. EA has established Mass Effect along with most of their franchises as multiplatform. Money talks, but often times the cost simply isn't worth it, and I can't imagine EA would pass on anything less than an exuberant fee for what they probably view as one of their most profitable and future proof established franchises. And while Microsoft would indeed benefit from exclusivity, just as anybody would, the franchise as a whole I'm guessing is naturally closely associated with team green versus team blue. Every cent spent on ensuring exclusivity is money lost that could be better spent elsewhere, especially when timed exclusive DLC packs, Kinect/feature bonus content, and logo/brand prominence during marketing would probably be far cheaper in the long run.

I maintain my belief that Microsoft will attempt at very least the latter, wanting to continue the franchise association with Xbox. But I cannot see them ponying up the dosh to net full game exclusivity, timed or otherwise.

I'm very much okay with not having a trilogy boxset. They're all still very playable, especially on PC, and I think it would be a lot of work to get those games into current-gen engines.

Super hyped to hear about new Mass Effect. My wishes stay the same for new Mass Effect as they always have: make it more like the first one.

I severely doubt we'll see a Mass Effect game without humans in it, and I doubt they've got the courage to go for a new cycle entirely, so I guess this one will be set on Shanxi during the first contact war and there will be loads of shooting. Ughhhh I already don't want to play it.

I'm hoping it's more like the first game, give the player a chance to relax and not feel a race scenario. Let the player take their time and explore the worlds. I also hope it's built for current platforms and not a cross gen title. Oh and sequel please.

I don't think it would make much sense to make a prequel about events such as the first contact war given that a large part of Mass Effect is being able to make choices. You can't really make any important choices if Bioware have already written about the events in the codex.

My guess is a sequel that's about "contact" with a new species or a number of species.

Looking forward to this more than anything at E3. Such hype.

I seriously hope that it's a sequel set a while after ME3 but I get the sense that it won't be. Late 2015 would be lovely but I imagine that it'll be early 2016 similar to ME 2 and 3's release dates.

Bits and pieces. Supposed PAX leak, stuff I heard, stuff others heard, etc. General summary of rumours:

- Not a prequel.
- Emphasis on exploration.
- Vehicles.
- New major species.
- Multiplayer.
- "Mass Effect: Contact"

If all of these things are in the game, plus the announcement of the trilogy on PS4 (with DLC), I'll call this now: BEST. E3. EVER.

It would be beyond moronic to only release on Xbox One. It's true that Mass Effect sold almost double on 360 compared to PS3, but it seems like a lot of 360 owners upgraded to PS4 instead of XB1.

If they are going to allow you to play as various species I would pick Drell, I thought Thane was a great character and playing as a Drell in multiplayer was great fun

What if it's just a game of you and your crew attempting 'post-relay contact' with the rest of the universe?

An extremely small-scale and personal story of post-war wounds and the ramifications of the ME3 war on life. And the focus is about rediscovery.

The game ends with you and your crew floating in space, close to death... and your paragon/renegade points determine whether or not you are found by others in the wide space, or you become a alien eater and feast on your crew to survive.

The pacing of Mass Effect 2 was the best IMO.

Probably the greatest RPG I have ever played in my life.

Mass Effect 1 was too monotonous at times.

I wouldn't have a problem with that. I just really want them to let us explore planets again, except without the same two or three buildings and missions over and over. Some of my favorite moments in the first Mass Effect was landing on a new planet and panning around to see how great everything looked.

Yeah ME2 really wasn't much of an RPG.

I personally am one of the ones hoping for more of a throwback to ME1's gameplay. My guess is we'll see a blend, though (of ME1 style and ME2 style), but it'll be quite some time before we find out.

That would be great.
Just doesn't need to be a trilogy.
Which perhaps we can also dismiss.

Drell are very powerful and Krogans are strong.
But if I have to pick one Vanguard.

N7 Slayer. Earth First. Aliens off our planet.

Mass Effect 2 is my favorite, and one of the best games with RPG elements I've played.

The Suicide Mission is beyond epic.

Just look at this suave badass

I like ME2 as much as the other guy, but ME2 was the least RPG of the 3 games.

I am no fan of ME2 or ME3 but i disagree. Since ME2 has roughly 1/20 of the autodialogue of ME3 its clearly more of an RPG since it gives more opportunities to define the character you are roleplaying. The only thing ME3 offers over ME2 is more weapon customization which is a poor way of defining the character you are roleplaying (however, not non-existent).

ME3 also offer more power customization. Overall, ME3 offer much more choices when it comes to gameplay. The amount of autodialogue doesn't really define RPG(as much as I hate it). Especially when most of those choices only does is add +2 Renegade or +2 Paragon to your meter. Which is something I hope Bioware actually improve in their next game.

Oh you punched that Salarian in the face? +2 Renegade, but you won't ever hear about it again.

Thinking about it, they already improved about it in ME3. I remember yelling at Joker for making a joke about Asaris for losing their planet and having not enough fighters and too much strippers, and right before the Earth mission, I had an option for either continuing to be pissed off at him or apologize for yelling at him sooner.

it'd be easy to forget the shitstorm that ME3 caused going by the excitement in this thread. it just goes to show how much the series resonated with people last generation.

Some people define RPG by items and talents instead of actual role playing.

Also ME3 doesn't just have weapon customization it has more in depth power customization as well.

I would much like a Mass Effect trilogy re-release in full 1080p.

I haven't played the OG 3 so this would be a great bundle for me.

That was back when BioWare was basically a second party studio to Microsoft. Once they got bought by EA, all of their games have been multiplatform. Although I do wish Microsoft would have acted, and at least tried to acquire BioWare. I think they would have been a good first party fit.

Regardless, I just want to see Mass Effect on next generation! I would also love if they re-released the games on the new systems as well. Same with Dragon Age (even the second one).

Oh boy, people are still expecting this game to be an Xbox exclusive. This nonsense needs to stop.

I really hope we get a Phantom class or sub-class of the vanguard.

Loved the Slayer. It was amazing hearing people ask "how are you using him on platinum like that" because I would double anyone's score.

I used to think the Shadow was the better sword character, boy I was so wrong. Shadow had nothing on the Slayer

I would love it if Montreal brings some of the brilliant MP classes to the SP campaign. I'd love to play as a Shadow. I liked the class (Engineer) specific interrupt in Omega, and the way you could have an effect on Aria's behaviour at the end of that dlc, rather than just a different convo option or whatever. Would like to see more of this sort of stuff. Also, I thought ME3 had the best combat out of the three games - so the fact that Montreal handled that, and is making ME:Next is pleasing from a gameplay perspective.

Very hyped for this. Hope it's not a prequel, hope it comes to PC at the same time as consoles and isn't a later port.

That's very foreign to me, everyone i know defines roleplaying games by, as you say, "actual role playing" and not by items and talents - but fair enough.. In that case i guess ME3 is a superior roleplaying game.

Consdering ME2 and ME3 all released at the same time, i see no reason why the next game would be any different. This isn't Ubisoft we're talking about.

Then how would you define all these JRPGs that have no "actual role playing" going on? I mean, they're just cutscenes with 0 interactions during them with mostly combat, exploring, and shopping in between. The few I played anyway.
