Mass Effect: Andromeda |OT| Ryders on the Storm

Ralemont

not me
To put a positive spin on what I said above, the side quests in this game are good, much better than DAI, and SAM triggers are a clever way to tie exploration with story (there also isnt too many of them when there easily could have been).

I load the game, my character falls from the abyss and take damage, inside the tempest.

This is a dumb question, but I am on the Nexus right after the opening and I have no idea where to go to get my ship... there's only a cyro bay and a habitat deck - am i missing something?

I don't get why the scan feature gets so much hate. For people that enjoy the immersion and lore in Mass Effect this is a great addition, it helps with world building and it's great seeing actual mineral compositions or what happened to a crash vehicle and it's crew, etc.

And for the people that don't care about lore well it's quick, you don't have to hold the button to scan, it's not like it takes a long time, and when it's actually required for a main quest or an important side quest you always get a line of dialogue or conversation that goes with it just so you don't have to read what you just scanned.

The only downside that I see for the people that hate having to scan is that the research point mechanic is tied to it, although it's not required as there are other ways to get points/gear.

Sure it adds to world building and immersion but when 95% of the game requires nonstop scanning of nodules, glyphs, direct observers here, scan this, scan that, it goes beyond world building and is an annoyance. Compare how fluid Metroid Prime's scanning was compared to here. I mean great for those who feel it enhances their lore knowing what the mineral composition is, or how many kilowatts of electricity this Kett generator generates, it is extremelt boring, redundant and subtracts from the overall experience. A lot of the missions could be ten times better without scanning.

there should be the docking area on the tram's menu, on the right. unless you didn't get the ship yet due to story reasons

I think you need to go to SAMs core first

Edit: If you haven't talked to Director Tann yet, you need to that first and then the SAM core

Pathfinder, this area can be mined for resources.

And the life support barks. I get it, Navi.

Well this is interesting. CDKeys are sending emails out with ME:A discount codes. A discount site discounting their discounts. Still it's great news for those of us who have been sitting on the fence waiting for a great price.

I'm not seeing any great price here. The game sits at $46.99 and with this discount applied goes down by $3.65 to $43.34

The 25% mentioned in the ad is calculated from its original price of $59.99, that I believe CDKeys never even used.

It depends.
There's only a couple main missions left after that, but a ton of crew quests and the planets you mentioned.

One of the vendors in Nexus dock sells basically only augs, mods and crafting materials.

That's what I figured for the most part.

Game is great.

So here's a little detail I thought was neat.

When you first get to Aya, and are being escorted to their leader, if you try to scan anything, the guards will all point their guns at you and order you to stop whatever it is you're doing.

Correct. On both counts.

Thanks guys, where is Sam's core?

Oh, I figured out the quest system... I didn't even notice the "Priority missions". lol

I had enough and decided to just finish it after roughly 30 hours

this is easily the worst work Bioware have ever done, yes, worse than DA2, much worse.
It's hard to believe how far they have fallen, after releasing timeless classics in the late 90s. Dragon Age: Origins was their last game I really liked. With ME:A, hey are not a household name anymore.

Andromeda is easily and by far the most boring game I haver ever played, there is nothing special or interesting about it, the quest design is at it's worst annoying and at it's best uneventful and uninspired.

After the main quest was done I decided to shortly visit the Krogan planet after all, and as soon as the quest there required me to solve another Sudoku I quit and uninstalled the game.

So this APEX HQ app makes the Strike Team bs a lot more palatable. Looking forward to my loot boxes when I logon later.

Is there a clear point of no-return with the romances? Been flirting with Peebee and Cora just commented on it. Does that mean that Cora is off the table now?

Man I'm indecisive with bills. I'm currently running tow completely different builds that I swap between depending on whether I judge a scenario to be too dangerous up close or not: Infiltrator for safer engagements with Tactical Cloak, Flamethrower, and Energy Drain, then Vanguard for when I want to be more reckless or the enemies prevent me from keeping range, with Charge, Nova, and Shockwave. I carry a sniper, shotgun, and SMG.

Thinking I'm gonna switch up those some and add a third favorite though, I'm thinking:

Infiltrator: Tactical Cloak, Turbocharge, Barricade
Vanguard: Charge, Nova, Annihalation
Sentinel: Flamethrower, Energy Drain, Shockwave

I'm a bit conflicted on Flamethrower vs Incinerate and Energy Drain vs Overload though, in both cases the new vs old skill seems to be similar but with some tweaks, like Flamethrower's shorter range but with extended duration if you hold it and Energy Drain's less damage but shield restore.

Will spreading my skills so thin cause me problems with skill points, though? As it is most of my skills just have 2 or 3 points and I'm investing in passives too. I feel like I've been leveling up fast enough to earn points frequently, but I just switched out of the preorder armor so am loosing its EXP boost. I'll probably grab the EXP cryo pod perk when I get my next AVP level to compensate.

Er, did you even actually talk or interact with her throughout the game? Part of her backstory is that she's
been basically kicked out and made an outcast from every unit and organization she's been a part of for her freakish biotic powers. The alliance didn't want her around, the Asari huntresses she was a part of quietly suggested she leave after a while because of her unnatural biotics. She joined the initiative to have a start in a new world where she wouldn't be judged for her powers and the way she is.

It actually makes the evolution of the scott/cora romance very nice later on.
This is
1) Astounding badly, fanfiction levels of writing. Being so incredibly, abnormally powerful that everyone shuns you is like the base for Mary Suedom.
2) Completely at odds with what we know of the organizations involved. The Systems Alliance would push ALL OF THE CREDITS in her direction as a recruitment bonus (as they do with other high level biotics), not act like she's Rudolph. They certainly wouldn't allow such a war asset to go swanning off to the next galaxy, especially around the time that the spookier agencies are becoming aware of an imminent existential threat to the species.
3) Ignorant of actual lore. Biotics manipulate gravity, not magic. What would a biotic be able to do against electromagnetism?
4) An upraised middle finger to supposedly powerful biotics in the original series.

So I think I have the final mission about to start...my understanding is I can still play after I beat the game, but is there any missions I should do before starting the final mission? Any advantage to getting all planets to 100% before starting it?

You can continue playing after the final mission to scan planets, explore or tie up any loose ends you need to.

Great, so my saves are screwed. When I load the latest few they all put me in a game over screen.

The only one that works is half an hour before that and I really don't want to have to do all of that over again.

Any way to fix the latest saves?

I think that you are locked if you keep flirting after the loyalty mission. I got the same commentary from Cora and a couple of missions later I got a flirt option with her.

Ha I'm impressed you actually finished this sucker. I can't play a game I actively hate. I'm only 4 hours in but I think I'll enjoy this more than ME2 and 3. Their linearity killed my space faring boner. I haven't gotten to the meat of this game yet so it may get much worse.

Make sure you have completed searching for the other Arks. That's the only noticeable thing I would advise.

You are still ok. I had the same thing happen and thought I ruined things with Cora. I did another story mission and I had the option to initiate both final romances after that mission.

Just wait til you get Drack in your party. I'd say he's even better than Wrex.

It's "25% of the RRP" so it works out exactly the same price its been for weeks with just the 5% code as they've never ever sold it at rrp.

Question regarding the early Angara missions.

Can I do both Veold and Harval (sp) before rescuing the Moshal (sp again)?

I've done most of the main bits on Veold, and now I hesitated when I was met with a 'Mission Confirmation' screen. I don't want to go past a point of no return, and I haven't even stepped foot on Harval.

I think I did Harval first. You'll do both at any rate so at most it'll change some dialogue.

Thanks! One more question- I heard that Peebee has a FWB option. Does that preclude a relationship with someone else later?

I have a similar approach so I'll just share my experience so far. Keep in mind that I'm playing in Hardcore and I've just traveled and almost completed (close to 100%) Eos and Voeld.

I find that having multiple profiles with different powers while fun it makes you less effective as you don't have that many points in each ability. I tried mixing them in fights but most of the times I ended up dead unless I was fighting lower level enemies in which case the fights ended up quick so switching wasn't really an option.

After trying different builds and approaches I've settled on the following:

2 profiles/builds only:

Build 1: Adept profile.
Pull at max rank, Turbocharge (rank 3 I think) and Lance at max rank.
This build is my main go to build used mostly for organics and/or packs of enemies that don't have many foes with shields/armor. My powers recharge pretty quickly and I've specced Pull to drain enemy shields and recharge mine since there's usually one or two shielded enemies in these type of packs. Lance does an insane amount of damage combined with Pull. Shielded or tougher enemies I decimate with my weapon and Turbocharge.

Build 2: Infiltrator profile.
Energy drain (specced to prime), Turbocharge and Overload (max rank).
This is my synthetics or heavy armor/shield packs of enemies, suffice to say it gets the job done. Energy drains gives me shields and primes enemies to combo with Overload which stuns enemies in the area and does massive damage to shields and synthetics. Turbocharge is used when shields are down and want to focus and enemy.

I feel I cover most enemy encounters with those builds and I'm pretty happy with them, makes my combat experience really enjoyable. As far as weapons I only carry two... Assault Rifle (specced into it) or all encounters and a Sniper Rifle for those that require longer range due to harder enemies.

I do have a third build which is the same as build 2 but I changed Turbocharge for the
Remnant VI
(don't click the spoiler unless you've done the first part of Peebee's mission). It's just a fun build that I carry when I don't feel I need the additional DPS of Turbocharge.

There is some really cool nods to the original trilogy in this game, some side quest stuff in particular I like what they have done. Personally I'm really enjoying it, love the vibe, the art style, the combat, the vehicle.

I don't know if it's just me but the multiplayer seems a little more difficult than in 3 and more chaotic too, I don't know what's going on sometimes, particularly when you and your three team mates have to hack something, when it's indoors it just gets bombarded with enemies so quickly. It doesn't feel finished to me nor does the game itself,

I think it needed another six months but despite my intital pissed off feelings during the opening few hours , the more I delve into it, the more I like it.

AHAHA I DID IT THIS IS AMAZING.

-Strongest shotgun in the game, but only a two-round clip
-Augment it so that instead of reloading, I lose 5% health every time the clip runs out and it instantly reloads for me
-Equip melee weapon that restores 25% health on every melee attack

Kett Carfalon/Dhan Shotgun with bio augment is the best.

PB grows quite a bit over the game.

Goes for whole crew. They develop and grow quite a bit over the game and differences are very noticeable.
Yeah, was just doing her quest and became better, Liara is way better though. XD

Visiting the
Remnant City
again, is this the last mission? Any recommended mission I should do before it?

I am using that augment with my Isharay SR pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Is there a "time played" for my save file?

Yes, it is displayed with your game save info.

An update to this earlier post of mine:

So I just had a really sweet moment with Cora, thought I had sealed the deal. Did a few missions (one of them being Peebee's loyalty mission). Kept talking to Cora in the Tempest but she didn't have any new dialogue...

...and now after finishing Peebee's loyalty mission, she just
professed her love to me in the cutest fucking way possible, basically asking to be exclusive I am assuming?

Now I don't know what to do...Not sure why I didn't get that prompt with Cora? Is it because I haven't progressed far enough into the story?

I did a story mission and now Cora is also asking to see me in her room after reading an email. Fairly certain I am at the point
where they're both going to ask me for a commitment and I still haven't decided :/
I CAN'T DECIDE
