You speak with such conviction on this!

And the American political movements are gradually shifting leftward with our diversifying younger generations. The Republican Party in 2030 won't really resemble what it is today and will probably have a significantly more Libertarian streak.

Which Part. The Marx comparison was probably a bit extreme I admit. As for the second part I do believe there will be a Republican president by 2024. The country is too polarized for 20+ years of one party rule. As for what state the party will be in it probably will be more libertarian. Gay marriage will probably be a settled issue, but that will make it less controversial. There will probably be more pro-choice republicans, but the majority of them will still be pro-life. I don't see the Republican party differing much economically. To be honest I'd be fine with that. A fiscally conservative, socially moderate Republican party would still be the most conservative party in the Anglosphere by far. Like I said before I don't have many options.

The biggest problem with the anglosphere is labors relative small power. That's what gets left wing economic policy. But its been smashed all over the English speaking world.

Its still pretty powerful in France and germany to my knowledge, not sure about Nordic countries

Depends on what you define as left. Germany's SPD (the equivalent of Labour) is in a coalition with the conservative CDU/CSU here and became more like a equivalent of the LIB DEMs in recent years. It seems like they lost their leftish touch and that's why many voters can't identify themselves with the SPD anymore.

All of the 'positives' of the scant economic recovery and the much-repeated 'long-term, economic plan' can be attributed to Vince Cable.

That's probably the biggest single blow to the country as a whole.

Gideon could have more free reign? I'm shuddering.
Actually, yeah, that's a fair point. I disagreed with him a lot more after the coalition began (before it he basically came across as the voice of reason at all times) but Osborne allowed to do completely his own thing would likely have been worse.

...which is what we're going to get now. Fuck.

I actually think just the relative power of labor unions as political and economic players is more important than any party stance.

They would vote for him if he posed like that.

All these LibDem losses are an utter disaster for Cameron. No way he wants to deal with the far right of his party without LibDem cover.

Clegg looks glum...

Oh no Lucy Allen took telford? She self promoted so much in the run up, it was cringe seeing her plastering her name over everything.

Are you serious? I'm a Conservative Republican and I can tell you the United States seems like a bad fit for you. Even if Hilary is elected in 2016 by 2024 there will be a Republican President that will make Cameron look like Marx.

I mean

this is patently false and completely absurd

over the past 20 years, the dems have made major strides in improving social welfare in the USA; the tories have made equivalent strides in dismantling it in the UK

in what sense does this make the dems worse than the tories? one of those parties gives a shit about people on the street; the other does not

HE DODGED THAT BULLET

This more or less confirms a Con/LD coalition doesnt it?

Yup. It's over now. There's absolutely no doubt whatsoever Cameron is the next Prime Minister, so we can all go to bed now unless we're absolute nerds.
