Um, actually you do vote for a person. You vote for your local MP. You aren't voting for a party - an MP may be a member of a party, but your vote is for the person and not the party. If the MP decides to change party after being elected, you are stuck with them unless they decide to step down.

You don't technically cast a vote for a party at all.

Yeah I get that but I couldn't care less who they are and what their personality traits are.

I'm looking at the bigger picture here I understand how the voting system works.

I'm sorry mate, you can't compare a zero-hours contract—as bad as it is as a concept—to actual slavery. It's not a comparison anyone will seriously entertain.

I'm being extreme and joking but it's fine if the zero hour contracts were consistent. However they are not. My mother is on a zero hour contract for home help. They will a lot her 5 mins between calls to drive Circa 15 miles and if she is a minute late she gets pay docked. If she says it's not possible to get there in time she doesn't get any hours for 2 weeks.

It's disgusting. I don't deny that at all and I hope the correct reforms are made.

Multiple sources confirming UKIP has lost South Thanet; some saying they've come third. That means Nigel is resigning.

UKIP with 3.5 million votes and 1 seat.
SNP with 1.5 million votes and 56 seats.

Kelner ain't wrong to say it's a debating point. lol.

So I guess the tories will finally push through the Boundary Commission recommendations.

Wonder if Cameron will be able to get his mp's to vote through the reduction to 600 mp's he wanted as well.

We've already had it as a debating point, and decided on it. That doesn't change just because the result isn't to UKIP's liking.

important to add to any non brits that they don't draw the borders themselves, they can only vote in recommendations by an independent panel. The last recommendations, which labour and the libdems voted down a few years ago, were favourable to the tories due to population shift.

*shrugs*

The boundaries needed redrawing, the current system is very biased towards the Labour party (as much as a leftie I am, it cannot be denied that its not right currently). An independent boundary commission to redistribute the boundaries would be a good thing.

Are all you Tories voters rich? If so good for you, if not go fuck yourself.

Did you just tell poor Conservative voters to fuck themselves? Charming. Maybe they just have a better command over macroeconomic issues that other parties simply fail to understand.

.....

Some of you really do yourselves no favours.

I really don't get this bitterness that exists purely because your party of choice is losing. The people have voted and for better or worse they have voted against your views.

"Everyone who voted in a different way than me is an idiot/selfish...." that's all I've gotten from this affair.

Why would you vote cons if you were poor? Serious question I dont know that much, I usually vote emotionally.

Nah, they've pretty much fucked themselves if the Tories stick to the working benefits cut they need to meet their spending target.
