Also this thread is an embarrassment.
I fucking hated the first two Fantastic Four movies. I don't even care that this one is being made. But the amount of whining over messes to the continuity instead of wanting to see a new spin on source material, something brave that takes risks instead of just slavishly sicking to whatever story is absolutely mad to me. Why wouldn't you want to see something new with these characters? Do you think they should stop making the comics and just re-release issues now? There are no new takes to be made on this material?
As for the race thing who gives a fuck? He might be adopted, he might share a parent, they might not explain the fucking thing at all. If Michael B Jordan is the right part for the role, then who gives a fuck whether he's black, blue, a dinosaur or dead?
Would have loved to see Marvel announce this casting and everyone go "well I trust marvel, I have faith this'll work". That may be so, that the film won't work because of many things, but not when giving the cast ac chance is some utterly dumb shit when all have proved themselves to be actors elsewhere.
Making Johnny black but keeping Sue white is contrived as fuck.
Making Johnny black but keeping Sue white is contrived as fuck. If they wanted to show some balls and appeal to a minority, they should've made Reed black. Or make both Storm siblings black! But dont half ass it. Johnny and Sue being siblings is an intrinsic part of their characters, so they better explain something.
don't have any faith in this when the previous FF looked much better suited for their roles, and those movies were turds. Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm is the worst offender. Seriously?
If Marvel is going Cosmic, FF are very much needed to keep the films close to the original material. Reed Richards is an integral part of the Cosmic universe.Lol at everyone saying Marvel needs the rights back. So what? They can punch it into their generic movie machine and churn out sad, predictable shit like Thor 2 and Iron Man 3? Rofl. I'd rather take Fox experiments a million times over than the shit mill that is Marvel Studios.
Based on the comic The Ultimate Fantastic Four, the contemporary update will focus on the characters as young men and women.

He's had one movie and it didn't exactly blow most people away. It's not hard to understand.I don't understand why people aren't giving Josh Trank the benefit of the doubt. Talented writer/director and 4 very, very good actors. Don't write this off yet.
If they're the children of an interracial marriage, she is black. One drop rule, what up!
Yup, it's a fucking cop out and Reed Richards and Benn are too young too. I hope Dr Doom is young too, because it's going to be hilarious. And like you said, if they had any balls they would either make Reed black or both Sue and Johny black, but no....
Personally, I won't be seeing this movie until Latinos get a proper representation. Where's the love, FOX Execs?
Yes.Isn't Fox going to try connecting FF and X-men into one universe?
its a racist opinion.I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just don't like changing the ethnicity of a character just for the sake of having a black guy in the movie.
also racist. It would be the same in the other direction. I also wouldn't want Falcon, Black Panther, Luke Cage or other changed to white guys.
"...but some of my best friends are black"I was cool with Nick Fury, because well the Ultimate Universe was a fresh start so they could do what they want, I also would be cool if a new Spider-man movie would come out with Miles Morales being the lead role. And I am still mad that the Green Lantern movie was not about John.
But changing a character that was never black in the source material with Susan as white sister just strikes me as odd...
use black actors for the characters with covered skin? eeshh.I mean you could have hired a afro-american for Silver Surfer or other roles .. hell even The Thing could have a black actor.
matter-ist.It just feels so awkward, it is the same with them changing Galactus from a spacegiant to a fucking cloud, ...
Hollywood filled their quota in their minds. Why didn't they make Sue Storm black also?
I haven't seen anything with MBJ in it. Looking at his IMDB, I'm guessing the praise is based on Chronicle and Fruitvale Station?
More like it started in 2002 with Spider-Man.
It started in 1989 with Batman
Batman didn't start any boom. They just made Batman movies that people liked. Hardly anyone followed suit, even DC didn't follow up with anything more then more Batman movies (Edit: and I guess that Steel movie that I'm glad I didn't know existed until now.). Spider-Man is when studios really started to take comic book movies and run with them.It started in 1989 with Batman
