True, but I also cringe at the idea of making anything work for 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 resolutions and not simply make it work for N resolutions. I simply cannot imagine any situation where that is a sound development decision.

haha, totally - but I imagine the isolated nature of console game development, where you typically don't have to worry about future revs or a flurry of different platforms, has a big hand in the shortcuts that people take. Why a senior member of the team didn't pull out the beating stick and yell "NO!" in a code review is another story, but surely you can imagine how this happened...especially when you take into account the more rigid deadlines of game development compared to normal software development.

Dunno if that twitter campaign asking Sega for more PC ports is still going on, but I think these guys are worth mentioning

http://www.devilsdetails.biz/index.html

They handled the PC ports of Virtua Tennis 4, Sonic Generations, and Binary Domain, so Sega is already familiar with them. I could see them handling PC ports of Bayonetta and Vanquish if Sega is willing to put out the cash and Platinum is alright with letting someone else handle the ports after Bayonetta PS3.

It was brought up in Grief's thread that Devil's Details is no longer operational, and haven't been since shortly after Binary Domain.

Wait, how many Metal Gear games have there been on PC? I don't know of any.

Rising might be the first one I actually play and complete. MGS 3's controls were a bummer for me.

Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 (sort of), but more recently Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2.

Jetstream Sam can manually sheathe his sword in his DLC if the player clicks in the left joystick iirc. pretty neat bonus feature. Would it be feasible to allow Raiden to do the same? again, iirc, clicking the left joystick on its own doesn't already have a function when playing as Raiden.

If that's doable, would it also be possible to have a "RULES OF NATURE" soundclip every time you sheathe the sword?

I still think a red blood/white blood option would be neat. Just toss it in as a fun bonus, or whatever. Doesn't need to reflect in the pre-rendered cutscenes of course.

The teams that did binary domain and Sonic generations made soms pretty big errors o their part, namely forcing a large amount of laptops to use their integrated card (workarounds possible) and it frustrated me to no end

Please tell me that this game will support 3D out the box on PC? That would be incredible!

If not, I can pray that Helix will do his magic to this game and make it 3D ready.

I keep forgetting that with my newer PC I can play my game sin 3D at max settings at a stable framerate. With my old GTX285 I had to tone settings down so I didn't bother most of the time.

Gonna try this though. Need to zandatsu and slice metal gear arms off in 3D.

Hell yes. Bring the price down to $40, and no need to include MGS4, they can keep it away from Steam thanks.

Nearly 75% for Pre-loading.

So when does Steam unlock it? Tuesday?

I bought this but have no idea what to expect performance-wise. I have an NVidia GeForce GTX 560M (2GB) with 8GB of RAM. Intel Core i7, Windows 7... I'm never sure what to cite for computer specs.

Bottom line is, this thing has been able to run the PC version of every PS3 game at like twice the frame rate, no screen-tearing, etc, so I'd like to think it could handle a PS3 game that already runs at 60 fps.

Hmm...

Ah crap. Have to wait to pre-load. Was going straight to my SSD and not my games-harddrive >.>
You can use Link Shell Extension to achieve this: once you've moved [the depotcache folder] to a different drive, right-click on it, select "Pick link source", then navigate to your Steam folder, right-click somewhere within the empty space, hover over "Drop as..." and select "Symbolic link".
