Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance |OT| A Blade Forged In Platinum [LAW OF THE WILD]

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Apparently you do have to be precise because I can line up three of four boxes on that second piece of debris and still eat it.

I just redid the fight and completely missed all 4 but did a diagonal cut all the same next to it and it worked out. I wouldn't worry about hitting the boxes, just try to do a similar cut. Overprecision takes too long.

yay beat Monsoon and got the no damage trophy :) I was nervous as hell that it would glitch, but honestly, after I was told about the emp grenade trick it made the fight a lot easier.

Lucky you! I just spent a good 45min trying to get it down perfectly and NO TROPHY guess it glitched out on me. Honestly the hardest parts of that are parrying all his attacks after the 2nd throwing cars phase and the last throwing cars phase.

It is hilariously easy if you rev up the pincer blades on him after you knock away his head, you can do like 15% damage if you get a solid enough hit.

Shit, even on Rev difficulty? Well that saves me some stressing. But those fuckin' rocket guys still nail me

Requirements for S Rank in the book say

Time: 8 Mins
BP 200
Zandatsu 2
Longest combo 80
Kills 16

It takes a score of 4500 for S Rank, the score above is for 5000.

Shooting the grad should give you more than enough for a longer combo, if the missles are an issue throw a couple of EM grenades at it and spam homing or RPGs at it. RP grenades as well will hinder it's ability to fire at you

That sucks. Like I said I'm going to take a break for a few days, perhaps go on a cruise and do some yoga before I attempt anymore no damage trophies.

The people that run away from the bolders are weak! WEAK!

I was running from them at first but I'm too reliant upon the health drops. So now I do it every time.

Eh, I'll come back to it later. Still can't believe how overpowered Armstrong is. What's the point of his big flashy grapple moves and magical fire spells when his regular punches and kicks seem to hurt just as much?

*takes hundreds of blows in a FMV*
*dies in-game in under five hits*

Could you give me the S rank requirement for time and kills for the
body doubles
fight on Revengeance? I wanna see if I should just try to go for it without the no damage bonus and see what I should be aiming for.

So I got it today and won't play it until later (it's 12:48 A.M. for reference) but GameStop was out of the artbook. The only reason I preorder from them and they're out.
At least I still get my "EXCLUSIVE PREORDER DLC, RIGHT?!"

Played through the demo 10+ times though, so this will be exciting.

Also picked me up some Vanquish and Binary Domain.

Cutting the boulders is easy if you've practiced manual blade mode a bit.

Just find an area with no enemies and go into blade mode.

Play with your stick a bit and build up a nice rhythm for it.

Use the left analog stick to control the camera, right for the trajectory. You can jerk it back and forth for fast cuts like you would mashing Square, or just let your finger trail off of the stick so it snaps back to the neutral position resulting in a single precise cut.

Once you've had a few sessions you won't want to go back to mashing square/triangle.

Oh god VR mission 18, in do-or-die situations the camera is not very cooperative, I'll be ninja running to get away from an enemy, and when I stop to parry its attack, the camera will spin like crazy and completely throw-off my parry direction, and then I get one-shotted

I really want some tips on how to S Rank both
Sam
and
Sundowner
battles on Revengeance.

Would really, really appreciate it. :)

If no one's going to help me with this :( can someone at least post the stats needed to S-Rank the
Sam
battle?

Anyone else feel that if you didn't equip a item that you should be able to use L2 to switch between your HF blade heavy attack and your unique weapon heavy attack?

I don't remember having a lot of trouble with the final boss. I went in with only one nanopaste, and sure I died about 5 times from the falling rocks, but if you do it right one time, then you get a ton of extra healing items and from there the fight is smooth sailing. I was in blade mode when he started to glow green and hit him right away. I didn't even know that he heals from that until I came on here to see what other people thought.

If I've finished Hard and want to move on to Very Hard, do all of my customization unlocks come over? Or do you start from scratch every time you begin a new difficulty level?

Just want to say that this game is awesome and 8-4 did an amazing job.
Oh, did they do the localisation? I haven't heard the last few podcasts, I listen kinda infrequently unfortunately, but that's awesome.

Also, I haven't tried it since I've read this, but can you just press X and Y in Blade Mode? I've been doing none of that shit, I assumed you had to jam the right stick. It's more fun that way anyway.

HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT

I JUST S RANKED EVERYTHING IN R-04 REVENGEANCE INCLUDING THE LOBBY AND THAT FUCKING GARDEN FIGHT WITH 4 RPG GUYS AND MASTIFFS

...EXCEPT SUNDOWNER. FUCK. I GOT AN A RANK WITH NO DAMAGE.

Also, general tips for R-04 and R-06 Revengence would be cool. I have a super hard time parrying
Sam's
four hit combo for some reason.

One more thing, what's the best way to deal with the Mastiff's jumping attack when you can't see them well?

It does. Or at least it will if you go to chapter select , except for the prologue.

Thanks for the info. Alright, now I'm just completely screwed. -_-

I went balls out and timed the fight and it took around 3 minutes, the timer itself says 10 minutes and some seconds during the ranking screen. Maybe it stacked the times from before when I went to customization or whatever. I dunno, looks like I'm SOL with this fight either way, dunno what to do now other than restart the entire chapter over and it has some of the most aggravating Revengeance encounters so far.

Anyone know if I redo this chapter afterwards but only S rank the fight I'm missing, will it update my overall progress later and count towards the Lightning God trophy?

You have to take it. That's just how it goes. Thank the camera + no warning.

Mastiffs gon do work.

It's the worst on the cargo elevator in R-04 since they spawn high up in the shaft and pounce on you. It's not even the camera's fault there. I'm thinking maybe get in a corner to minimize the amount of possible parry directions?

When you get the feel of precision blade mode...the game just clicks so hard!

Learn how to use both directional sticks in blade mode, the easiest way I can explain it is that you use the left stick to align the height and the right stick to align the angle and flicking the right stick back to cut, when you understand that you have full control of where you can cut, it feels so good.

I really agree with this. I struggled badly until I worked with it. It makes things immensely easier.

GET IN THE CORNER?

WITH THIS CAMERA? JOO CRAZY?

Just keep moving, especially on the elevator. There's no way to keep track of multiple Mastiffs. Fight like one of em is always about to launch the cheapest attack possible and let your blade bathe in the blood of your enemies.

What's up with people not liking the final fight? I found the difficulty to be in line with the rest of the game. He might hit for a lot but that fight spews out healing items.

Finished the game today on normal. A few thoughts. These will be more cons but that's because they're sticking out to me right now.

- camera isn't so great. It jerks around way too frequently in cramped areas.
- not a big fan if having to mash the stick for getting stunned all the time. Granted, getting better will help this, but truthfully I'd rather take the damage ad get knocked down.
- Raiden gets caught on items a bit much. Fences/glass doors.
- I would've liked to see the level design have a bit more originality. It was similar in ways to Vanquish. That's not a bad thing but I would've liked it to define itself better.
- getting into a groove, taking out multiple enemies ending in a double health grab feels amazing.
- taking an off a limb here and there in a group fight is also great.

It's hard to really say how I feel about the combat system after just one playthrough. Off the bat I don't think it's the same caliber as Vanquish or Bayonetta but I'm hoping harder difficulties bring out the best in the game.

I actually didn't like the first couple bosses as much as the later ones but I have a feeling that's because I was getting progressively better. The intensity of some of the bosses is pure bliss.

I gotta say, the guide is REALLY FUCKING GOOD! Like seriously, will definitely be useful whenever I attempt to S-Rank the game. Amazing breakdowns. Amazon were also nice enough to deliver it on a Saturday lol.

You need 50 hits to get the full combo bonus on the Sundowner fight lol.

The combo requirement in general is completely fucking awful, it was the sole reason I didn't get an S-Rank in a lot of the game's fights. The requirement makes even less sense in subsequent playthroughs since you get much stronger, thus kill things much faster <_<

Platinum plz v_v

You can get huge combos using the Fox Blade of all weapons by simply ninja running in circles and mashing light attack on severed enemy parts.

At the moment I'm parrying his charge, and then getting about 30ish hits on the helicopter, then finishing him off by Ninja Running and sporadically cutting til I get to 50.

Now to just BEAT HIM ;_;

Started the game last night and WOW, on Hard difficulty which is the way to play this game, ohh man what a game.
I love the cut scenes & bosses presentation, and the soundtrack is awesome.
I just want to continue on playing, hope we will see sequels.

Just beat the game, here's my results.

I got every left hand and saved all the hostages too.

GO NINJA GO NINJA GO!

only 2 hours in and this already one of the best games i've played in recent memory. i'd still be playing if i didn't have to sleep.

also, why do i keep getting - for zandatsu when i clearly ripped some spines? am i doing it wrong?

Fuck yeah, just S ranked R-06 on Revengeance. Just gotta do 04 and 07 now. I think I'm more worried about 04 to be honest. The final boss is tough but 04 is pretty much a gauntlet of "fuck you".

Mastiffs and RPGs

Mastiffs and RPGs everywhere

R-04 is the only one I'm having problems with, and it's fucking annoying me. This stupid fucking Sundowner fight.
