Okay screw this, it feels like walking on a mine field! I haven't been spoiled yet but I'm stay away from any MGS threads from now on. See you all on the flip side!

Dabookerman. I'm not gonna bother searching for your post history due to potential spoilers from the spoilers thread. However, assuming you have finished it, what did you think of the game? Did you think the game lived up to all the positive reviews it has has been getting? What would you give it out 10?

Haha, good idea. My post history is not to be looked at :lol.
First of all, I am a massive MGS fan, and my expectations were very high. I have had a histoy of series where I love them, but they end a bit shit. Thankfully this game does not do this. This game exceeded my expecation by a huge degree, the story wraps up fantastically, it was an absolute treat to play, and the game feels like the biggest gift that Kojima will give you.
I cannot think about anything bad to say about this game. When GTA 4 came out, I thought, that I may end up liking that more then MGS4 as a game. Nope. The complete opposite. This game is my personal new favourite game ever, and I really am being sincere. I will play this game many many times.

Just poppin' in to say the week after next :)( not getting paid enough next week!) I will have my new PS3 and MGS4 :D.

Can't wait. Seems like forever since I played MGS3 on Christmas day of the year it came out. And like that game i'm on a 100% media blackout so I have no clue about the game :D

Well you have flashbacks during the game to take you to a referenced scene (from another game in the series).

Watching the gametrailers retrospectives would be useful too.

To have any idea what is going on, you need to watch the MGS retrospective on Gametrailers. I personally never played 2, and only part of 3, and I feel totally lost, but the video was pretty good.

considering I thoroughly enjoyed MGS2 without ever playing MGS1, I don't think so. Sure, it was confusing, but it was fun (thought that last codec call did drag on to the point where my eyes were just glazing over, and the opening cutscene was incredibly boring).

I just got my Metal Gear Saga vol 2 and Snake gift card from game, I cancelled my order with them ages ago, but they still mailed me the coupon.

Not bad for a freebie.

I bought Twin Snakes a few days ago, hoping to refresh my MGS knowledge. My main problem is the GC controller. It is so baffling to me I am having a hard time getting into the damn game!

I am in no way trying to start the argument again, but if you have a choice PLEASE play the PS1 MGS instead of Twin Snakes if this is your first time with the series :D

I have the 40gig PS3, so no backwards compatibility :(

And I have played MGS before, but it was a looong time ago.

Hence, Twin Snakes.

In case you guys hang out on multiple forums I just wanted pass along the word that the official thread in Gamespot's general games discussion forum just got shit up with spoilers. The mods took him down quick, but not before I saw everything. It seems that GAF is the last safe spot on the internet.

holy shit, i received spam email with mgs4 spoiler in subject ! i just read mgs4 snake something and closed my eyes and kindly asked my girlfriend to erase the message.
This is getting ridiculous.

If things get any worse than this, our last chance is counter spoiling: everyone who hasn't played the game should start making up spoilers and spam as much as they can; there's only one way a spoiler can be un-seen, and it's when you read even bigger spoilers that contradict the ones you've read.

If you never played an MGS game before. You might aswell skip the cutscenes, because you won't know what the hell is going on. It would be a shame to play the game without playing the others. Some of the fan service put in just won't have that effect, and it would feel wrong.

Yep its bad, I made that thread over there its a small community, we have mods that have the spoil = ban rule as well but it did not help. Thank god I was not there at the time, I dodged a bullet. This is scary.

One comes close I think. I didn't exactly time it. Some cutscenes are intertwined with interactive parts. The cutscenes in this game are some of the best anyway. They went all out.

That always was something that irked me during codec's.
