Totally just pre-ordered this game a few days ago (LE edition). Can't wait for this beast to come out.

Great thread btw. It's pretty epic if I do say so myself.

MGO is like that, so I wouldn't be entirely surprised. I agree that it's not cool though - the framerate increase is just as jarring as slowdown, basically.

It was that way in the MGO Beta. For example in MM when you went to the place where you could climb up the wall to the balcony thing the game jumped to 60fps when the camera showed the wall and your player only. It was very noticeable.

I'm -this- close to cancelling pre-order and just renting to watch the movie play out. Kojima messed up by eliminating the awesomeness of MGS2:Substance in MGS3, and here we go again with more failed opportunities. :(

I assume this is a joke post. You're canceling your pre order because you have no collectible image that appears on screen? Don't get me wrong, I love collectibles, but not buying a game because it doesn't have them sounds dumb...

Speaking of expanded stuff. I sincerely hope they do a revised version of MGS4, but make it available as DLC as well.

Yup, I noticed a sudden increase in framerate whenever I was dicking around the spawn points as well.

they did?

if so they can SUCK MY NUTSACK.

After someone linked to 2 different reviews (1 from Eurogamer and the other from IGN) from the same person for the same game and they received 2 different scores (an 8 at Eurogamer and a 9.1 at IGN), it wouldn't surprise me.

IIRC from the greeny thread on GFAQs this game has a mode akin to the VR missions.

Dog Tags were a chore to collect. I say good riddence.

Batman would be able to stop it (with prep time, of course).

And even i am moderately surprised

if its like it is in MGO it won't be too bad IMO. The switching of views and changing of frame rate was just a little odd rather than jarring imo. Didn't see it as a problem.

After someone linked to 2 different reviews (1 from Eurogamer and the other from IGN) from the same person for the same game and they received 2 different scores (an 8 at Eurogamer and a 9.1 at IGN), it wouldn't

we all know review scales are different across sites, it shouldn't be a surprise.

Are you sure there are no dogtags? I thought it was going to be a given going by Sneaking mode in MGO...meh. They were so fun to collect in MGS2...it would've added assloads of replayability for me.

WOW the OPs are awesome :lol

Elegance in excess.

Looking forward to IGN's review. I'm hoping it's Jeff Haynes rather than Greg Miller, does anyone know? That's the one I'm most interested in reading.

Did both of you enjoy MGS3? If so then it really doesn't matter because that game did not have a "solid" framerate. From my recent playthrough of MGS3, I did not care how bad the framerate performed, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Best game in the series up until 4 hits.

We'll see. I can get used to a lower framerate, but jumping between 60 and 30 is really jarring for me. If it were just certain vision modes, that would be OK, but I don't like the idea of certain areas running at 60 (indoor areas) while others at 30 (larger battlefields). They could probably have done the same with MGS3, to be honest. I'm sure all of the indoor locales could easily have hit 60 fps just like MGS2, but they limited it at 30 due to the fact that the outdoor locations could not hit that high note.

Hopefully the performance remains at 30 fps (minimum) most of the time, however. From what I could tell, the performance issues in MGO were likely the result of lag (I've seen that before and it doesn't surprise me that a team less experienced with online gameplay would struggle with this issue).

Wow, at the shitstorm that went down. :lol

It was inevitable that this was gonna happen because some reviewers don't agree with the hype, but I didn't expect it to happen this early! Seriously, guys on both sides of the argument, you've brought this thread from the epic that was the OP to utter shit.

CALM THE FUCK DOWN!

I'm gonna sit it out under the discussion moves away from this review bitchfest.

But we get an online mode. So whilst we lose things like VR missions, the game more than makes up for it with online.

The sudden framerate changes are just disappointing if true, that's all. I'd rather have the game run at a constant 30fps through out the game for consistency.

you play the game for dogtag and vr missions? I didn't even know MGS3 or MGS2 had VR missions.

I must be playing MGS wrong :(

Just tell me how that has ever stopped you from enjoying a great game? Technical issues are like arguing over small spots or color distortion in an oscar winning film. It doesn't really matter when the rest holds up so well that you care less about something which is not meant to define the experience to begin with.

Mind you I'm not mad, just incase you or someone else thinks I'm a prick. Just having a good conversation or rational debate.

yeah that`s a bummer, especially now with the ability to intregrate leaderboards. VR missions would be really fun and really addicting.

MGO...meh. Gimme my VR missions back!

As for my dogtag comment, it's not so much abotu collecting, it's about having a silly reason to commit to stealth. Sure I can hold up and interrogate guards for useless ammo and rations that will never be needed if I intend to stealth my way through anyway, but the dogtags were a unique challenge that forced the player to really maximize the capabilities of stealth and the environment to earn them, especially among packs of guard patrols.

Something tells me it won't be indoor either, but rather if you have Snake against a flat wall with nothing else in sight and that's it. I bet the indoor environments are cluttered enough to make the game run at 30fps.

OT: the same thing happens in GTA4 sometimes, and it's not a nuisance at all. If anything it's actually quite nice to see how good the game could look at higher frame rates, even if it's so brief.

It's just nice to want things that suit my tastes, I guess. There is no doubt that MGS4 will be my game of the forever once it's in my hands. I just hope the changes in framerate aren't bad or don't happen that often. Sure, I'm saying that it sorta sucks now, but when the game is finally in my hands, I probably wont even give a shit, to be honest.

having MGS4 in my hands after a 4 year wait, I'll probably have other things on my mind. :D

Do we know if the servers for MGO will be region-locked yet? I'll be very disappointed if they are, since most of the people I play online with are in the US. I also wonder how MGO will integrate with the new in-game xmb.

With regard to the report of each act having it's own install, I hope the system can eep all the installs at once, so that I can load saves from different points in the game without waiting for another install. If each of those is 4.6GB though...

Why aren't the reviews talking about MGO? Are they only including the SP game or something....? I imagine the game is getting cheated out of some points if so.

Yeah, i'm sure the people who don't actually own the game will have great "concern" over the resolution.

WTF, they bowed to pressure? Weak! If you're gonna have your own view, you gotta have the legs stand with it, not change your mind coz a bunch of rabid fans are on your ass!

Red Blaster said:
Bloods of fucking retards maybe.

LOL, I always find that shit interesting...particularly with exclusives like Halo 3 and the like. Gives you an idea on what the consoles and devs at this point in time are capable of. For instance, if they had to back the resolution down from a goal of 720p to get certain effects. I assume Quaz would need to get a retail copy in his hands to be sure.

But it always turns into a bloodbath.

EDIT: and why am I getting jumped on here? What did I say? This game looks awesome and I hope I can play it soon.

Uh, you've got it wrong. Apparently the original score was a 9 and then for whatever reason it was changed to an 8.

Eurogamer posts the review at 9.00 - comments from 9:02 onwards are talking about the '8' score.

Stop with the BS

edit: They supposedly changed it later, I see.
