Metal Gear Solid 5 Peace Walker |OT| Peace Walking & Ad-HOC Partying

How do you capture a helicopter?

Same way you capture a tank, you can kill the commander with a rocket if you don't fancy shooting him with your Mk.22. I don't recommend trying the sniper rifle against the pilot.

What is the best way to take down the vehicles and stuff? I just did the tank in chapter 1. Killed all the guards and then shot the tank until the commander came out then killed him. I did all this in under 10 minutes, but got -1 heroism and a C rank.

Also, what does the heroism stat do?

Killing people destroys your rank. The best (and probably easiest) way is to use smoke grenades, hold up the guys, fulton them away, then tranq the captain.

Another interesting Kojima interview: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-...tion-3-port-for-Metal-Gear-Solid-Peace-Walker (English snippet)

I can not say I'll do a direct conversion of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on Playstation 3. However, this game was a challenge in terms of its development on the PSP for me and I probably will preserve the base of it. And if I had to port it to another console, I would add even more depth to the story.

...

For example, there should be ten more players (characters?). And we saved a ton of additional dialogue for the characters already present in the game In fact, we misjudged the storage capacity of the PSP.

He goes on to talk briefly about MGS 3DS and Rising.

Extra Ops 91 is impossible. Holy fucking shit. There arent enough rations and curry on this earth for me to get that solo. Looks like I need to bug my brother for help again.

I keep hearing that theyre not bad once you get the better fulton gear like Mines but I can develop the mines until I upgrade my teams. But I cant upgrade my teams until I do the missions. This sucks.

I guess my best bet is to wifi recruit a bunch of guys and hope I get the upgrades I need.

ExOp 91 is ridiculous; the Raider can kill you in one hit by basically staring at you and the guards are of the super armor variety. I wouldn't recommend trying it solo unless you have the CG Fulton (that in of itself is part of a ridiculous battle) and the bandana to help you out.

I managed to take out all of the guards by myself but when that was all done, I only had 2 bags of tortilla chips left :lol

I ran out to pick up supplies and one missle got rid of both bags. Its nuts.

If for nothing else, the bandana will solve your supply drop issues. :lol

This game is too awesome though. I put it down a lot and come back to it days later only to get lost playing it for hours again. Im still at a measly 40 hours but if this keeps up, this might end up being my most played MGS game...which says a lot considering how much I played the others.

91's quite easy with the sneaking suit and magic mines, once you learn where to place them you can get 70% of the guards that way. Stay up on the hill most of the time to avoid the spawn points, and keep an eye on the helicopter.

Centre of the road and the bottom of the ditch are good places for mines, if the guards don't step on a mine, just shoot the mine from a distance when they're going past the next time.

This game is absolutely awesome. Problem is, I don't have any friends that own the game (or PSP's for that matter). I really want to play co-op, but it seems like the only way I could do that is through my PS3. My PS3 is the launch 20GB however, and it doesn't have Wifi. Which kind of kills that idea. Is there any other way to play Adhoc over the internet?

EX91 is hard even with four players. Of course it didn't help that two-three of us didn't have the right equipment to take it on. But after two retries we did it within 31mins or so and got the Fulton Launcher way early.

Solo you'll want it to knock the trains over and hide behind them and keep tabs on where it's going to take pot shots at it. It takes a while, but unless you have the Mines and Fulton Launcher this is the only way of doing it solo. (Dunno if there is enough supply drops for that though)

Peace Walker 2(on the docks after Coldman dies)
on solo, seriously you need like a million missiles and an equal number of rations.

And this question has probably been asked already... But what control scheme do you guys use?

I'm using shooter. I would've preferred the traditional MGS1/MGS2 control scheme, but you have to aim with the D-Pad in that scheme. I figured I might as well use the face buttons to aim, since it's pretty much the same.

Don't think you can.
that sucks. i played the first mission. tried sneaking, took me 10 minutes to get close to the end and died (why cant you save btw-_-). i replayed the mission by shooting my way through the soldiers and it took me a minute. i dont know. i hate the game so far. story seems to suck too.

You don't really need to save... The story is broken up into bite sized chunks. If you remember even in MGS1/2/3 you couldn't save anywhere, only from the start of the area you are in.

ex ops 91 has trains? isn't it against a modified helicopter at Bananal Fruta de Oro?

If the objetive is gettin S rank then it is hard for sure, but beating was not too difficult forme usinc combat suit with helmet, and both gustav , one on level 5 for the helicopter, and the (MU) at level 4 for the soldiers. Then the M.Nagant to sleep the leader. I did it in 15 minutes aprox. Level C, not great but gets the job done XD

EX91 is the Fulton Launcher Mission, I thought? Maybe it's 90. Either way, that one is hard as hell if you don't have rank 4 RPGs to take it on. :lol

the clue, at least for me was grinding to upgrade missile launchers to level 4. I also have more ammo now when i call for support, they send me 4 items :D

Any way that doesn't require grinding? Kojima really should have scaled difficulty based on number of players as solo players are at a huge disadvantage.

They just decided not to and i think it was a great move imo.

I've already said so in my post and maybe you've missed it: he posted the name and the logo studies (lol, yeah right) in his blog, but it was never officially the name of the game.
It was just a marketing move he used to raise awareness on the game just prior to its release.
Anyway, back on topic :)

It's 98 I think. I did it solo without getting spotted until the end, pretty hard otherwise.

Attack the weak point for massive damage. I mean attack the A.I. pod and nothing else and you should be able to do it. You might need to carry 3 rocket launchers but I think they get unlocked naturally.
When it's using the EM field,
plant and detonate C4 under it's front flamethrower, easiest when it's doing a Poison Beam.

Believe it or not, the game is actually balanced for single-player through and through; you would know this right away since the bulk of the mech battles in co-op are piss easy. What is difficult to do solo, though, is S-ranks on the hardest missions, but what's another insignia if you can get the S-rank bonuses in co-op as well?

how can i press against a wall and peek around corners. i dont want to knock.

just press against the wall and move the camera to "peek around". Also you can press the aim button to pull out your gun and aim, then pressing the fire button will tag enemies.

is there a reason why they didnt implement that feature. i dont get why they would take it out. sneaking without it sucks.i guess ill keep playing. at least the graphics are nice.

You definitely need to do Extra Ops as they are unlocked though. I imagine anyone just trying to do the main ops will eventually get stuck at a boss because they don't have powerful enough rocket launchers.

Oh, don't get me wrong; the Extra Ops are definitely a vital component of the game since the vast majority of the best weapons and items are rewarded upon completion and/or S-rank. The game is still balanced with one player in mind.

yeah but it seems here you even cant save in the areas but that you need to replay a whole mission if you fail. like i failed in the last of 4 areas and i needed to restart from the beginning. i think the game just isn't for me. too many little things are annoying me.

If it makes you feel any better, the vast majority of the missions in both the story and in Extra Ops last less than 10 minutes, so it's hardly a time-intensive endeavor.

what he said.

Just want to confirm that Onion_Relish's tactic on the previous page totally works a charm! Just did a five-skull Tank battle (28 troops) in about 20 mins (this was the one I was bitching about on the previous page), using not much more than a sniper rifle, Fulton Mines and a few porn mags. :lol Can only B-rank it at the most, though.

Generally speaking, you won't be getting S-ranks on the mech battles if they take you longer than 15 minutes to complete, and that's in addition to no soldier kills. Another effective tactic that you can use to get through them faster is that you can smash the mech and not have it count against if you if you can destroy it before the captain pokes his head out. I don't know why this doesn't count against you, but all you need to know is that it doesn't.

Got this game from Kmart on Sunday and have been playing it since. Love it and I've spent more time on the target practice extra ops then the story :lol

In the story missions, it's best to just run through the levels and take out the soldiers that are actually in your way. Don't go off the beaten track, really.

Okay okays no waiting around for videos of people playing the game I went an got it for myself since $20 was a super nice price! I dunno when I'll start struggling through the game with DQIX coming and all... maybe someday after I find a physical copy of Portable Ops so I don't gotta play more outta order games @_@

PW more or less ignores that PO happened, so you wouldn't be missing much by not playing it outside of a need for acute carpal tunnel syndrome.

Be prepared to pay the same price you just paid for Peace Walker for Portable Ops. I picked it up like a month before PW and it was 20 dollars and the price hasn't changed yet...
Check Gamestop if you want one now. They have em around me.

Also he has a point, there seems to be very little if any reference to PO at all.

I got that just trying to play the PW demo! No it was more like frustration due to poor controls. Sigh! Why didn't they just make it top down like MGS/2?

Thats a fair price even if it is old! But what're you guys saying? PO is non-canon now even with it in the MGS database thingy? Just cause references aren't made doesn't mean that! If its still a official MG series game of course I'd wanna play it!

never thought i would spend so much time with this game. +70 hours into it, still extra ops to do. Hopefully next MGS will take this route to improve replayability. Also i would pay for a bunch of new maps and extra OPS.

How do you tell what direction a claymore is facing? I can find them fine but getting close to them is what sucks

EDIT: Going to try Soliton. DUH!
