Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

I got phantom pain for $53 CAD but I decided I'm going to play through 1-3 before playing it, since I've never played a MGS game before. Having fun in MGS1 so far, just beat the Ninja Grey Fox dude.

Does anyone know if importing a save file works on PC?

It seems lke you have to delete save data if you want to change anything involving the save file

This has probably been asked but I completed Episode 16 and I have yet to get the dog. I've been using Quiet for the past few missions but I would like to try and use that dog. help!

Finished chapter 1. Mission 29-30:
I thought Skullface was so lame it made the last couple missions unintentionally (?) funny to me. While we were riding in the truck to the metal gear I got so tired of him droning on I started to ignore him and listen to music while he's talking about his people getting killed. I could have skipped the scene, but then I wouldn't have been able to disrespect him like that. And the whole process of bringing me to the metal gear I was trying to destroy, and having it turn on him while he's trying to look tough. Beautiful way to end such a worthless villain.

I had about the same number.I dont think its that much.I am sure others have even more lol
After like 45 hours and around mission 30 I'm at around 350. Think I should just focus on getting more at that stage of the game now? It's been fine so far. I've been able to get everything I've wanted and needed so far.

That whole thing was so weird. Just a real wet towel of an ending for someone that they try to build up as so deadly. It's hard to picture him as the mastermind behind all of these events. And they never even explained why he looks like such a freak. Chapter 1 is a real letdown all around.

Is it actually possible to skip the ride-along? Like every lengthy cinematic sequence in the game, it's a real bore that I wished I had skipped.

I'm pretty sure all those not-so-subtly placed spoiler tags on this page spoiled me something pretty big, even though I didn't read them.

So I did the 5
rescue the children
side ops in Chapter 2. Was I supposed to get a cutscene or anything from this? They mentioned that
Eli wanted to meet with me and that there had been a leak or something on the Quarantine Platform, but nothing triggers when I go there.

The solution in these cases seems to be to just keep doing missions / side ops until they call you back to Mother Base.

Please don't spoil anything further, but does the game ever give you any hints to the (later game spoilers)
whole losing Quiet if you don't wear the butterfly emblem
thing? I'm not there yet, just curious.

Like can you avoid it if you pay attention to the game.

Man, getting the extra tasks in 'The War Economy' is tedious. So much waiting around in cardboard boxes, no checkpoints, d-dog keeps getting in the fucking way, conversations not triggering. :/

It's nice while watching a movie or a tv series. What really annoys me is Backup, back down. Hate that mission.

Just had an incredible two hour session.

Mid chapter 2, around mission 38, but I just thought 'fuck that' regarding the story missions. Did the rescue
the children
missions, did the get
the container missions
-
in the fucking jungle,
it was so glorious and so MGS3.

Captured loads of guys, unlocked the
bandana
, looked like a badass, was a badass, did so many side ops.

Totally nailed stealth, too, was only properly spotted once in two hours. Skill really does factor into this game. Decided to stream my session for the shits and gigs, too.

Edit: also listened to loads of incredible cassette tapes - ran out, did more important side ops to unlock more, unlocked more, kept on listening...

Probably my favourite collectible in any game ever.

Well, I'm just gonna play it as intended, then. Screw it.

Just looked at the guide.

Nothing about where in the story it gives you clues to this. This is what it reads.

As Quiet is such a powerful ally, you will be glad to know that there are ways to delay her departure in order to call upon her services to complete earlier missions with S Rank. The first is to artificially keep your Bond with her safely below 100%, but this is an unwieldy solution. The second trick is to use the "Butterfly (Front)" design in your emblem, which will "lock" the final stages of Quiet's tale while it is in place.

From what I've read, you need to extract the puppy after Mission 2 and then complete six missions, three of which must be Missions 7, 8, 9 or 10.

So about mission 45
I understand that Quite leaving could have been avoided.I wasn't aware of that. Can I go back and redo it or am I fvcked? And if not did I miss anything special? Like cutscenes n' sh1t?

brau, I got the guide to and haven't seen anything about it. Also, not quoting you because I'm not that far and avoiding spoilers. :p

Oh cool. There is nothing in there that talks about it.

Kinda weird eh. Makes you wonder if the
butterfly emblem
is a bug, more than a mechanic in place to keep
her
in your game.

It seems to be a hidden trick for people that want to keep her around on successive replays imo. Quiet leaving is part of her story arc, it's supposed to happen.

Oh, ok. Yeah I just read it. That's so weird. So wait...do you
miss out on story cutscenes if you don't wear the emblem?

I think you are right. It is mentioned in the Guide, so they acknowledged this was not a bug.

Either way, its good people know about it beforehand i guess.

Personally, i don't mind the story progressing as intended. Plenty of other options.

Just some of the missions on
her arc
. Which is weird. Considering Kojima said your buddies risk perma death. Dunno how much they impact the story.
Specially hers.

What the shit. Why do people think my cardboard box is moving when it's been still for like five minutes? So far has happened in the back of a truck, and in the airport 1st floor... both during The War Economy mission. Very annoying. Is this just a substitute for "hey, what's that cardboard box doing here" or whatever? [edit] Looks like using the iDroid makes Snake move for some dumbass bullshit but probably accurate reason.

It's nice while watching a movie or a tv series. What really annoys me is Backup, back down. Hate that mission.
I'm so glad I have that mission out of the way now - S ranks and tasks. It's super difficult planning all the routes, avoiding people, and getting from A to B before something disappears.

Just finished episode 31... awesome mission, terrible everything else.

Pretty sure it's explained in one of the tapes, or it might have been one of the tapes in GZ. If there's something that seems to be missing from the story, odds are it's in the tapes somewhere.

Wow.

The Ending to Mission 4
5

was incredible. An iconic moment for the series for sure.

Although fuck that missions and those Hulk Tanks. Jesus. I eventually had to call airstrikes to kill the 2 last tanks

Those guys were eating over 4 From 4* missiles. I don't get it.

K guys, Chapter 16
The mission requires vehicle extraction but I don't have the means to fulton them. Does it mean just taking it out of the area or do I actually have to fulton it? I know the last mission had a Transportation specialist but I didn't capture him.

I'm already near the end of the mission but died a bunch of times, would prefer not to replay it if not needed.

How do I get more yellow missions? My mission list ends on mission 42, I've done all the yellow missions and yellow side ops, unless I have to beat the yellow combat deployment missions. I don't want to do anymore recycled garbage like mission 42 again.

Unfortunately, driving it out is your only option then. Have you tried smoke grenades to cover your exit/approach?

I hated it, but only because for whatever reason the enemy could one-shot me even if I had the combat gear on D:

Either do some of the recycled missions or more side ops and the other story missions will unlock.

Oh nice. I was lost in a sideop mission and while searching for a way to get to where i needed to be and i suddenly found
quiet
.

This game keeps getting better imo. I realise some people think the environments are repetitive but the gameplay is so damn satisfying.

I'm getting tired of this game, and it's mostly my fault: every time i end up spending that 1-2 hours i get to play repeating the same mission over and over again because i keep getting spotted and not only its frustrating, it becomes boring pretty fast. It feels like i'm just wasting my time. Plus, i have a really hard time focusing when i play it.

And hearing that
end-game consist on repeating the same missions in harder difficulties it sounds all but exciting...

That last part is not mandatory whatsoever, so don't worry about that.
