Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

Is there a way of seeing how many people I've fultoned?

I want to unlock the
fulton rocket upgrade for D-Walker
but need to have extracted 1000 staff to unlock it. In the pause menu it says 1098 added to base but I'm guessing a lot of those are from deployment missions (which I constantly set away) and not just all Fultoned.

Also anyone know where the
missile guidance specialist is
in mission 19?

Played so much today. Went from around mission 28 to 41. The story is getting so cool now in the ways I wanted. I want to keep playing but my body says no you need to do that bullshit sleep thing.

This has been me the last two nights. From mission 32 or so to mission 45.

Time to finish this thing tonight...

one more question can your horse, dog, quiet, etc die permanently if you shoot, explode them etc?

I don't think so. During one mission DD got shot to shit and was just fultoned out automatically as he'd taken too much damage.

He was back just fine for the next one.

You're making me want to plow through and finish it too...arggg...

I just got such an info overload from the tapes. Been just doing side ops and listening to like over 20 of them and holy crap. Lateish game spoilers,
these tapes explaining the vocal parasites...like whhhhhaaattt?!? Kojima what are you doing?!?!? What is this what are you doing?!?

Still love it though. It's a crazy idea and it's absolutely insane how far they go to try and justify it. I can dig it.

That's the thing. That theme/backstoryline quickly becomes ridiculous and non-sensical at that point. But it's just so bold and out-there... I still love it. It's so MGS.

Mission 45. Fuck that was HARD! So glad I S-ranked it first time, I would not want to do that again (aside from getting all the mission tasks -_- )

Finally have the ability to develop the wormhole fulton (not playing right now but it has less than 2 hours until it's ready). Guess I'll be adding excessive resource farming to my schedule

And I haven't started Mission 31 yet but I did trigger the cutscene where
Quiet gets injured while trying to retrieve the necklace
. Not that it matters anymore but I'm not sure if I should have done 31 first

Why?
31 is one mission where she isn't much help.

After 91 hours, i finished with story:

WTF? Is this the ending? :( Just this? Nothing more? I am disappointed, I expected more... I love all Metal Gear games, but this is not a worthy ending. :( (and yes, i saw all cutscene, even the Mission 51)

Don't worry, those have nothing to do with each other.

Guys, I am sort of stuck.

I am no side missions left, and can only play a couple of very hard subsistence or extreme levels to progress the story (I'm at 66%). Do I really have to replay those levels on these extreme levels or is there something I can do?

Please help!

You can just play a couple of side-ops instead to progress.

You're at 66% and haven't finished the story yet?

..you sure about that? What's the last story mission you did? Spoiler tag it please so others won't get spoiled.

I think it is mission 41, proxy war without end. I have done mission up until mission 50, but they're all extreme or subsistence, and the story doesn't progress on.

I have also done all side missions except the target practice on Mother Base

And replay them also helps? Because I have done them all.

Damn I hate this, I want to complete the story but I don't want to fight the first end boss again on a hard difficulty, nor do I want to replay
Code Talker or Sahelanthropus (sp?)
again on extreme

Are you sure you've done all the side ops?

What the hell?

I'll explain in detail how the next mission is supposed to unlock, so you can check if you've done everything.

The next story mission is Mission 43. It unlocks after doing Mission 41 PLUS any one additional mission [including replays] or three additional Side Ops. You also need to have at least 49 staff members.

I have done
mission 43. From mission 40 to 50, all I have left is 42, 48 and 50. All [Extreme] or [Subsistence].
. I do NOT want to play them now, I want to focus on the story instead of dying a zillion times in hard mission I have already played.

Thanks guys for at least responding, hope someone knows what to do :(

Also, what do you mean with 49 staff members? My security team is lvl 41 now and all the other above 50, and the base facilities are maxed out.

None of this sounds right. I'm at 55%, did mission 4
1, some side ops, got mission 43, did some side ops, and unlocked the last mission without issue - 46.

Have you listened to all the yellow/orange cassette tapes? Certain events/side ops may not trigger unless you listen to the organge cassette tapes.

Edit:

... it sounds like you're finished the main story, but haven't realised it. IIRC the last mission is
mission 46.

I haven't done the last mission yet but this doesn't sound promising.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Going into Chapter 2 armed with info on how to make it progress has made everything pretty seamless in my end. I haven't had to go out of my way to make anything progress.

Mission 46 is the only one I don't have on my list!
FUCK. How can this be???

So, just to confirm..

Story missions variations aren't mandatory for the
true ending
right ?
Just side ops and listening to tapes ?

Did I not just ask what the last story mission was you played, to which you replied "Mission 41"?

...just listen to the damn tapes.

all right, finally got my PS4 back from the repair shop. Unfortunately all my saves are gone so I have to start from ZERO :(

Good thing the gameplay is so good otherwise I am not sure I would be willing to start over.

Nope. Those are the tapes with the yellow dot in front of them? I haven't listened much to the tapes at all I'm afraid.

It's the tapes. I said that in my post.

Listen to all the yellow tapes.

These will prompt more story-Important Side Ops. (They're good as well. Better than most CODEC conversations from the previous games.)

Listened to all the yellow tapes, nothing happened.

May also be worth noting I haven't played a single mission or side opp with
Quiet
. Zero bond level, and no special side opps for
her

Super weird. Have you returned to Mother Base in a while? Sometimes you have to go back yourself to make stuff happen - especially after you've listened to the tapes.

If that fails, just do a few missions with Quiet. Doesn't take long to get her bond level up.

So how are people dealing with these yellow mark, S-difficulty Combat Deployments? With a team of 10 A++ soldiers I still only get a 50% success rate, and adding in my two S+ dudes only takes it up to 56ish so I'm not going to risk them. Is this just how it's going to be from now on? I've just failed this particular one three times in a row; ten hours of deployment time with nothing accomplished, and obviously the next yellow-marked one won't unlock until the RNG lets me beat this one. Pain in the arse.

Pray for RNGesus untortunately. I got lucky and manage to succeed 3 times in a row despite 51-52% chances of success.
