Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| A Franchise Robbed Of Its Future

No.

If they reach the core of the platform they invade on, they get 10 of the staff from Mother Base. If they fulton extract the defense, that's the security team you assigned.

If they invade your command platform, they get 10 random staff from ANY department.

It sounds like they went for your R&D core.

I think this was just bad luck. I always have a lot more people than my divisions can handle, but I think they should get ten people from the whole pool. I could be wrong. My focus was on telling you that you should get the best guards with maximum awareness and all toys and stuff to keep intruders out in the first place so you don't have to worry as much anymore.
thanks guys. What exactly are good attributes for security staff? You mentioned awareness. Does that just have to do with rank?

Yes. Fighting Rank matters. E-rank will barely see you a few meters away, while S-Ranks spot over bigger distances and are more likely to call anything in and such.

Yeah Heroism definitely makes a difference. I'm on 500k+ and I noticed immediately that there's a lot more S Ranks around. I get like 5-10 pre mission. I was on about 200k when I finished Chapter 1 in about 40 hours or so. I've since S Ranked every mission in the next 15 hours. Most of the Heroism you get from the later dispatch missions, S Rank rewards and developing all the R&D stuff. You get like 5000 per set of items (Hqndguns/Uniforms/Buddy etc). The hard part is purely the wait for R&D time, Base Development time, and the time to process your raw Fuel. GMP you'll have by the bucket load selling excess stuff and from mission rewards.

about Chapter 2...

I'm up to the Missions where you need to rescue the escaped kids...but who the hell is Ralph?...something about him dying at sea but I don't remember anyone named Ralph...can anyone refresh my memory

It's hilarious that "Rare" and "Super Rare" animals are faster/easier to catch than the "Common" ones like the scorpions.

Took me three hours to get the scorpions.

The Rare/Super Rare? All done within two hours of getting out of the helicopter, planting the traps. Getting back in the helicopter and having the fucking animal pop instantly.

What a difference of "go to this area and plant the traps. You'll get 1-8 of them!" makes.

I had trouble with that too. He was one of the kids you bring back to Mother Base, but was crushed by a falling pipe and killed.

I'm really glad I beat Chapter 1 before
everyone and their mom decided to run that infamous quote into the ground at every chance they can take.

Quick question if someone can answer. When you reach full capacity at Mother Base and it says people are discharged when you bring in new people, does it just throw away Waiting Room people? I'd hope so, anyway.

Im pretty sure it discards people that have low stats first. Starting from the waiting room.

Whenever i see that, i just go and dismiss everyone in the waiting room.

I have not seen these.

there is one for
DWalker, but if you use it it will limit your rank score to an A.

I would have to check the guide for this. But the missions usually tell you on the stats what special soldier you can pick up. The ones that are greyed out you already have, if its white you need to pick them up.

Help !

Post mission 32

I'm back to motherbase and I'm told some pipe crushed one of the kids to death. It looks like I'm supposed to follow Eli but I somehow fucked things wasting time and now I can't find him anywhere
Am I screwed ?
Can I still find him ?
Did I miss anything important?

Does anyone know which missions this is?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXf1xKiKKu0

It's not a proper mission in the game, maybe a side op retooled into a mission for demo purposes but I don't remember any side ops like it either. Probably just something specifically made for TGS using the area right before
Code Talker's mansion.

No it's fine.

still no shooting range on the command platform like shown in the E3 2014 trailer, still no Ocelot walking around

You mean when Ocelot is training the recluits ? I got that cutscene.

Anyway, it's pretty clear that a lot of things were cutted from the final game.

Wait you saw it after mission 32? I got that scene before I even started mission 31. I feel like everytime I go back to MB I get a new cutscene, regardless of what I do.

Regarding specialists
if the secondary objectives listed for a mission mention prisoners/high-ranking solders to be extracted, 99% of the time, the specialist(s) will be one or more of them.

I've also found blueprints during story missions that weren't listed.

I'm scared to build an FOB on PC. I've thought a few times to myself that after i beat the story I'll just use cheat engine to give me max GMP. And those thoughts make me sad.

Yes. Fighting Rank matters. E-rank will barely see you a few meters away, while S-Ranks spot over bigger distances and are more likely to call anything in and such.
Thanks. I didn't realize rank mattered. I thought the game just allowed you to get away with putting scrubs on your security team.

Mission 30 is the easiest S Rank ever ...
Jump in D Walker + Battle dress. Drive straight through the base and done.
- S Rank in under 3 mins.
lol

I did the same but I spent 2 hours capturing the outpost like a mecha-walker rambo, and it gave me an E rank for all the alerts =P

that's what I get for taking my time lol

Can't be a coincidence

How do you know where to look without using an online guide?

I have about 33% to find but don't see anything in the iDroid's encyclopedia to hint as to where to find them. Habitats are listed as unknown.

I've been playing the entire game going out of my way NOT to kill anyone, but now I've made it my personal mission to grab every Boaster I find and stab him in the heart.

"O wow an S-rank soldier!" - just kidding, the guy is potato-tier but by the time you find out it's already too late. I don't even fulton boasters anymore, I just grab them and stab them to death.

Not a coincidence,
Miller (or Ocelot?) mentions at some point that the interrogation will take place at night. But I think they only get that bit of intel if you rescue one of the other particular prisoners first.
Cool. Must have been the 2nd or 3rd one... I got the 1st one but I think I remember the second two were deep into base or too many guards were around and I couldn't at the time....not sure but I remember I wanted to try rescue them all. That's a nice little detail, actually. Must suck for anyone that starts the mission at 4 to 6am though and misses that detail haha so he finishes with the first 3 basically right at sunrise.

I think maybe that's what happened to me... I basically always use ASAP but once in a while I'll choose day if it seems like it makes more sense or fits the mood a bit better (e.g. Mission 12, 20-31 spoilers)
I like doing a lot of the meeting, hunting ones at day... the airport assassination or hunt the slave trader on the savannha seemed or at least looked prettier during the day... a lot missions with rocks look much more amazing during the rain.... and anything with a ton of lights (e.g. Power Plant) or Skull Face looked much more amazing (and ominous) at night
.

i try not to 'game' it too much, and just use ASAP as much as possible... but a few of those scenes or locations are so beautiful during the day with all the heat wave effect, light breaking through trees or distant red soil and yellowed grass; or, similarly, at night with the light of rain reflecting off rocks for certain missions where I thought to myself, the number of rocks or wetlands here makes this just perfect for a rainstorm; and again similarly during a clear night, with electric light towers, etc. especially Missions 12, 20, and 30-31 at night I think
the power plant looks amazing at night in that one scene
at the start of 31

Ugh, Missions 24 and 25.
Was shy from S rank over me not knowing some stuff. Was like 300 points away on 24 because the prisoners had long strings of dialogue and on 25 I wasted a ton of time because I didn't know the prisoner was a forced helicopter extraction.

Mine just finished development. Visually, Snake ends up
with lots of blood all over, and the horn gets much bigger.
. Also lost 50k heroism, now I can't be bothered to reach 1m any more.

I want to keep the
nuke as a deterrent for FOB, but disposing of it would get me the last achievement in the game. Hmm.

Okay, so I just finished building the last platform. My Mother Base is now 100%. And you know what I got?

The base is still empty, there are still no helicopters or vehicles going around, still no shooting range on the command platform like shown in the E3 2014 trailer, still no Ocelot walking around. There is no activity whatsoever.
So anyway, I went back to the Mother Base gameplay demo they released a month before release to see if I was imagining things

even with things removed from the game, Mother Base is the most fully realized, beautiful rendering of an operating base in video game history

Oh so that means it has nothing to do with stuff happening in mission 31 then.
Weird. I was recalled to MB and saw that, so I thought it was something major.

Also,
battle gear
was done by mission 32, whereas I know it wasn't until 38 for other people.
Not sure how these things work.

Also, fuck side ops 144.

Took me hours to find, was in plain sight..

I'm literally at 99% completion and 4 trophies away from the platinum and now I found out I got hit with a blueprint glitch which means I can't get 100%. I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

What blueprint glitch?

Fan-fucking-tastic, just had a huge reveal spoiled for me in the most unlikely of places. I'm not too angry because predicted it early on but I really hope there's at least one more huge thing I'm in the dark about.

What blueprint glitch?

During a story mission, you can permanently lose a blueprint (possibly only certain ones and during certain missions) if you picked it up and had to restart before activating another checkpoint. The blueprint won't register as having been taken, but it won't appear in it's expected spot either.

Happened to me with the Kabarg and Stun Arm.

I feel your pain, same thing happened with me, posted it on here a few days back. A complete bastard of a glitch so we're basically locked out of getting 100%.

I love this game sometimes.

pretty much sums of how smooth and natural all the gameplay feels
even with things removed from the game, Mother Base is the most fully realized, beautiful rendering of an operating base in video game history
the scale of it still sometimes puts me in awe...

hundred hours in and once in a while i'll still just use the heli to go plays just so i can fly low and beside the catwalks between struts
