I'm completing missions with perfect stealth, S-rank but it doesn't give me the Foxhound codename at the end of the mission. I keep getting Puma.

What's the deal?

What happens if you abort Mission 12?

Do you have to repeat the side op or can you just start the mission independently at the central camp? Do you lose any Mother Base progress made since you did the side op?

For some reason my Xbox didn't seem to save the clip I made when the game went to 2 frames per second on a mission. It was really weird.

What are you supposed to do when the skulls get close and 1-shot you? Is there any way to avoid that?
Also, is there a specific suit I should wear?

Am I the only one who just hid under a bed in the house and bombarded all the tanks with airstrikes?

question about Wandering Mother Base Soldiers Side-Op...

so I completed all 10 of the 'Extract Wandering Mother Base Soldier' Side-Ops and showed all 10 pictures to Paz...what do I need to do next to complete her story?...I also noticed that there's still 1 Memento missing in my list...how do I get it?

Check near the area. Look around.

The splash page says the patch is out but I really don't trust it

It's out. The X-box version took a week (or a few days?) but it's out. It might be behind the Steam (and PS) versions though. I know Steam got another patch for performance and folder installation bug purposes. I dunno about PS.

cheesed the first one by using the chopper's miniguns lol

You can do it from within the chopper without ever having to touch the ground, it's that easy.

I recommend doing it from the ground though, the subsistence missions are probably my favorite experiences in MGSV.

Would but lol not enough money at 20000000 tanks at once

I started seeing S soldiers at 100k heroism, so i don't think it's tied to heroism. I think it's tied to the number of side ops you complete and maybe heroism, but not this alone, cause that wouldn't explain my case.

It's Heroism and RNG. How many S's you get is totally RNG.

When can i get S - S++ rank on the field? I am currently on mission 35 but so far the highest rank i can find is A++.

S++ isn't in the field AFAIK. It's random volunteers from
F.O.B. invasions and the one-time S++ "gift" from the ending.

For something built 21 years earlier, Salehanthropus looks like it could kick Rex's ass.

I believe Sahelanthropus IS Rex. Sahelanthropus was actually too large to function without Psycho Mantis using magic to move it, it was described by Huey as a failure that shouldn't be able to work. After Mission 51, Sahelanthropus would have had most of it's body destroyed beyond repair, and it may be implied that it is eventually reclaimed by the patriots and deployed to shadow moses to be rebuilt. With Huey having killed himself by MGS1, Hal ends up being recruited by the Patriots, with Strangelove having trusted Hal to the care of Cipher, with Hal wanting to follow in his father's footsteps. Everything Hal invented was a recreation of technology his dad made, which would explain why he ends up being shown as kind of a crappy scientist in MGS4.

Mine is 120k so i guess i need more?

Yes. I can't remember when I started to see S ranks consistently. But I imagine it was around 400k or so.

Hmm, well perhaps it's tied to multiple things yeah. But you are talking about S ranks in the field and not just as mission rewards, right?

RNG? That's lame :(

It's always going to be random to a certain extent, but you'll be seeing a lot more when you progress further into the game.

Ok, I finally got it through selling a bunch of resources and bombarding everything. And damn. I expected to find Quiet dead. But instead, she's just gone. It sucks. :( I really enjoyed her as a character. And then I think "Hey, maybe they'll run into each other again." Nope, because MGS is over..

Should I be getting rid of all these E rank dudes who are on my waiting list? Is there an achievement for having a certain number of members or can I just release them all and clean things up? These guys are having a free ride doing nothing just eating up all my food and making a mess of my mother base wasting resources not contributing anything. :/

I dump them, I just make sure that I don't dump any specialists I need but 99% of them are sent packing.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one getting burned out on this game. Just finished Mission 18. I've been doing side op mission to feed my war machine (Mother Base). Maybe I should stop using Quiet. She has become a bit of a crutch.

So for sure they add nothing or are not part of any bonus? I know (guess?) it is not any harm keeping them and more an OCD thing wanting to trim the fat.

I have 700 total members. 252 in waiting room.

Think I will keep them until all my bases are maxed and full then cut them.

I think 1400 is the maximum amount of members you can have (with 1 FOB). From there on the game will automatically start dismissing low ranks as you add new soldiers.

Oh so that means it has nothing to do with stuff happening in mission 31 then.
Weird. I was recalled to MB and saw that, so I thought it was something major.

Also,
battle gear
was done by mission 32, whereas I know it wasn't until 38 for other people.
Not sure how these things work.

Also, fuck side ops 144.

Took me hours to find, was in plain sight..

Yeah, progression after mission 30 is really weird. I feel like I could miss something important so easily.

And yeah, the same happened to me with
the mission where you recover the man on fire body
. So many time searching for it, that I said fuck it, and had the entire base tranq'd and fultoned with the help of Quiet so I could find it more easily, and when I saw it just there I felt such an idiot lol

"Exceeded personal capacity. 4 staff dismissed."

I just got that message! So anyone I fulton now will still be added and the lowest ranked ones in my crew will be dismissed?

to unlock Mission 46 do I need to complete all the main missions including those Subsistence, Total Stealth, Extreme remix missions?...or can I skip those remix ones and stick to the new missions only?

You don't have to do them, thankfully. You can just do story missions. But you might have to do a few side-ops before they show up.

I haven't had anything negative happen from doing it.

how do you know it's a specialist...if the icon is flashing?

It's a circle icon with a wrench inside of it, you can press Y (PC version with controller) to open a detailed view that says what type of specialist they are, I just keep all the upgrade dependent specialists.

thank goodness I don't need to complete those remix ones...I'll save those for another time when I'm done with the main story...I've done 100 Side-Ops and 38 Main Missions and I'm burnt out

when I'm in the field tagging an enemy with my Binoculars will this also work?

So I'm at R&D level 60 and developing all that sweet final gear.

The only thing I can't develop is the Bullhorn Shotgun because the S rank Com Ops are absolute bullshit with their 50% success rate and 3hr timeframe. I've failed them multiple times back to back. Unless I want to leave the game running which I have done a couple times, I dunno how I'm going to get this blueprint.

I decided to play again tonight after a few days since the last patch gave me performance issues on PC and no issues today. I wonder if it was a server issue.

Anyways, I just did some Side Ops to round up some things there and I got a cutscene
where Ocelot hit me with a bucket of water.

crossposting a little but I got some questions about the final missions:

I beat mission 46 without ever unlocking mission 45, which now sounds pretty important!

I never used Quiet in the game, so it seems like a pain to max out her bond to unlock side op 150 (to then unlock mission 45, if I'm reading right), which I have yet to unlock as well. Or is there another way?

I did the same. I knew in advance what a pain in the ass this mission was so I load up on GMP points. Peak out from cover and mark the tanks. Called in air strike over and over again. I find the RPG to be somewhat useless unless the vehicles come really close. I really can't imagine doing this mission without airstrikes.

Still loving this game. Taking my time with chapter 2. Just playing side ops and trying to do the hard mode missions. I wish they had hard mode versions of all the missions.

I hadn't checked my playtime until now but I'm at 62 hours.. Wow.

I know I left it on sometimes but the ps4 is set to shut off after like 15 minutes..

Just got through a lot of the missions in the 20's today. Started at 24 and finished Mission 29
forcing to quarantine my officers and get through the missions quickly to find a cure, and the fact that the missions themselves went by pretty fast just accelerated my main mission progression.

Had to stop playing for the day since it started storming.

Out of curiosity, what rank did you get? I'm guessing it's not possible to get an S this way? I got B.
