Stealth Camo, Infinite Ammo, Support Moves like Bombardment, and the Chicken Hat all lock your rating to A or below no matter your score.

How/when do I get to develop the bandana (for cosmetic function, not interested in the infinity one)?

Sometime after mission
31
. You end up getting a side mission where you have to
recover an AI pod, which gives you a key item allowing you to develop the bandana
.

thank goodness I don't need to complete those remix ones...I'll save those for another time when I'm done with the main story...I've done 100 Side-Ops and 38 Main Missions and I'm burnt out

when I'm in the field tagging an enemy with my Binoculars will this also work?

Yeah it should say if they are a specialist under their stats in the field. I'm more referring to the specialists you get during missions, like the metamaterials specialists and robotic specialists.

I replayed few missions with a soldier from the combat unit. I got a message telling that the soldier's skills improved everytime I finished a mission until the soldier got a medal. Then I didn't received anymore message about skills improvement. We can level-up a soldier only once?

You level them up with medals, but only three medals per soldier. Each medal boosts the soldier's overall skillpoints by 30. For reference: An E-rank soldier that gets 60 points raises to A-Rank.

Oh no, game wants me to build the first FOB now. Disabling ethernet helps since it wants to establish a connection with the Konami servers to confirm but the annoying forced guide in the iDroid pops up everytime I switch maps :( I might just block MGSV entirely in the firewall

Cool effect but ridiculous charge time makes it useless

The amount of power it has for fully charging it makes it comopletely worth it

Just build the damn FOB people act like you are not going to lose anything of value

The animal achievement is super tedious. If it at least only contained animals you could actually see and catch on the map. RNG is just harsh.

I had no problem with the time taken to getting the other 46, but God damn they should've appropriately named the rarity to Near Impossible.

Can someone tell me the mission numbers of the normal ending and the true ending? I'm kind of getting a little fatigued by the game and I haven't even bothered with any of the side-ops. Just finished mission 22 and, despite the fact that it's easily the best MGS game in terms of gameplay, it's starting to wear a little thin.

how can you be fatigued by the game but enjoy the gameplay?

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. For a start, there's too much of it. Like most open world games, they become difficult to finish because of pacing issues. It's why only a small percent of gamers ever see these type of games through to the end. I've enjoyed much of what I've played, but it's becoming a little repetitive; the FOB aspect of the game has just been unlocked, so maybe that will mix things up for me. It's a big reason why I haven't touched the side ops at all. I've played enough open world games to know that the more you do earlier on and the more you're distracted by the myriad of optional quests, the less likely you're going to see the game to the finish.

However, all that being said, this particular bout of fatigue is down to the story expectations of MGS; I want more of the story and the way it's slowly being drip fed to me is frustrating. The story, so far, lacks any kind of emotional core is bogged down by meandering, almost pointless minutiae.I'm a little impatient, partly down to the fact I've heard a few negative impressions of how it wraps up. I think I'll probably enjoy a second run through of the game once the elephant in the room is out of the way; the story. I just want to get the disappointment out of the way basically.

finally finished. 100% and all the achievements took me 247 hours 43 minutes

Damn, congrats! How much longer did it take to reach 100% after finishing all the achievements (or did it go the other way around)?

I Platinumed all the other MGS games so I feel like I have an obligation to finish that one too, but it looks like it'll take as long to finish as all the other games combined lol.

Finished the game yesterday and overall I really enjoyed it. Infiltrating bases was fun and the sheer scale of the environments to explore was incredible. Afghanistan felt a lot more developed with its set piece environments and I think i enjoyed the missions there a lot more.

Mission structure did become repetitive rather early but the story mission and how they linked was really well done. Specifically
mission 10 through to 13 was probably my favourite part of the game along with mission 31. 31 alone could be developed into a game in itself.

A couple of missions did damper my experience of the game though. 29, 44 and 45 were pretty bad,
not the content but just how tank everything was in those mission just made them more than challenging and it became frustrating after a while.

Okay quick clarifying question for a total newbie. I just started this yesterday, and am on the first mission where you have to
find Miller and do some other stuff.

I got to the outpost where you find the document giving the location. My question is, can I just leave at that point and go to the new location, or is there any requirement or benefit to clearing the whole outpost? I actually did leave, but then had to shut off the game. I just figured I could go back and clear it out later when I actually got the Fulton to make it easier.

you only have to complete certain objectives to win the mission. If you quit and save during a mission, i believe you get dumped back to the chopper. Your marks stay where they were, so if you wanted to skip getting the intel file and you remember where it said miller was captured, you could just go straight there. The game is very open ended and you can tackle objectives in any way you want. There's very few "must do it this way" to the game. That's what's best about it.

Ah, excellent, thank you! That's pretty much what I figured; just wanted to make sure. I did get the file and the map is now marked; I wanted to get out of there because there were only 3 dudes left, but it was turning to daytime and I only had so many tranq darts left!

Can someone explain to me how I just defeated the mission 20 boss?

Like I did it, but have no real firm idea of what the mechanism for defeat was.

So you get him with water... but still invincible. Eventually I somehow damaged the kid who is obviously psycho mantis with explosives perhaps? Because I thought the mechanism would be you try to fulton extract, which forces him to show up, then you shoot him, but no he was invincible to that. Hitting the flaming man with C4 didn't work, but I started lobbing grenades and it just kind of worked. And I got a ding for damaging mantis (as in, the mission said I had done it) but I don't recall seeing him show up.

Quite confusing.

Damn, I keep clicking the spoiler thread because I only have the OT in my sub'd folder, so when I click gaming instead of sub I click the first METAL GEAR thing I see out of compulsion. Been some close calls, but damn I know I'm going to get nailed sooner or later because of it >_<

This has been the first metal gear game I've played thus far in the entire series and remained spoiler free, and I've been here since '98...

Trying to go for broke on the final entry, and been lucky thus far. Just curious: has there been any suicides yet? I know they tend to pop up when metal gear games come out, and it's how I was slammed on both MGS4 and PW =\

Are there people out there happy with how the game concluded and the story content? So far, I've only heard negative experiences. Of course, those voices are usually the loudest, particularly in the aftermath, so are there any gaffers who were satisfied with the endings and how the story wrapped up?

I know Peacewalker gets a ton of hate, but I quite liked and enjoyed the game and thought the end boss and normal ending were entertaining. I didn't feel the need to pursue the grind for the true ending. I know it ties directly into GZ and PP, but I was burnt out at that point on PW. I plan to do a Big Boss saga playthrough at some point (MGS3-PP), so will get the true endings on those playthroughs.

This might have already been mentioned, but how fucking cool would a replay system be? I S Ranked a mission last, think it was mission 6, rescuing the prosthetics engineer, and I don't mind saying I felt like the Boss. Pure stealth, no kills. No enemy alerts or reflex. Felt great. It would be great to replay that with different camera options and upload if necessary.

I was struggling, until I hopped into the jeep and tried to drive him into the small pool of dirty, shallow water before the huge water tower. To my surprise, it worked. It was a nice little moment of "crap, I didn't expect that to work". Maybe you knocked the man on fire into the same body of water with one of your grenades.

This game does a really, really good job of making you feel like the guy that shows up in all those amazing cutscenes in previous games. For what it lacks in story, it makes up for in the way it makes you feel like you're the greatest soldier who ever lived and not just some clown who can't move and shoot at the same time like in MGS1-3. No wonder The Boss just kept kicking Snake's ass in MGS3; the guy hadn't even learned to move and fire yet.

Is there anything - apart for the usual and/or special recruits, materials and blueprints - to be missed from ignoring the Combat Deployments marked as important - marked with a yellow dot? I'd much rather focus my private army on getting rid of those fucking riot suits and shields. Or do you get a cassette or something upon completing them? I can't remember if that has happened after earlier ones...

I'm going to be gone for most of the day, would it do anything to leave my game on and at Mother Base? Like does Material Processing/finding/whatever keep going if you are just idle at Mother Base or out in the world?

I was pretty disappointed at first but the more I think of it the more I like it. Still can't stand that there's content cut though because there are some loose threads that are only resolved by watching a half done cutscene.

About getting quiet

Just mark her from your first position and drop supplies directly on her, when she changes position once more and done.

Just a word to the wise to Miller and Ocelot; you don't need to build an entire military offshore platform capable of launching nuclear weapons to resolve your unrequited feelings towards Big Boss. The Big Boss saga has essentially turned into an allegory for unrequited gay love. Which is a thing to behold.

I'm a little worried about spoilers, so sorry if it has been answered before.

On mother base there seem to be several doors with red lights on them that make a negative sound when you try to enter them, so far I have only found one on the medical platform that opened. Is there a specific reasons for when those doors get unlocked? It seems weird that I'm relatively far into the game, (Completion 25%) but can only enter one door that I just randomly stumbled over.

Any tips on Cloaked in Silence extreme?

Devlop the Brennan sniper rifle.

Quickly aim and de-aim to get her to fire a shot so you can find her position, keep doing that and slowly correct your aim until you can take a shot. The Brennan is so powerful that you don't have to worry about getting heashots every time but if you do, it does massive damage.

Decoys also work to draw her fire. If you don't care about ranks, use bombardments and do the aiming thing to keep her in place.

Those are the doors that you have to enter in FOB mode. There's only 2 doors you can actually enter on MB: one each on the Medical and R&D platforms.

There's an ongoing argument in the spoiler thread, so yes. It's just MGS2 and 4 all over again. Time will tell where the majority of the fanbase settle.

Side Op question since this one is annoying.
What's the exact location for the Man on Fire's remains? The soldiers said jack and I've looked everywhere

You're not the only one based on last two pages and now I'm in the same boat.

Earlier people said it was so obvious they felt mad having spent all that time looking for it.

EDIT: Haha of fuck just found it a minute after posting that. 30+ minutes well spent fucking hell

Answer:
He's right there in the middle open inner yard of the base, next to a wooden box

Yes. This man will be coming with me now.

Is precious metal used for anything other than the Hand of Jehuty? I have several thousands of it sitting in my resources and I am wondering if I should just sell it

Literally in the middle of the big open area inside the base. It's hard to see because it kind of blends in.

The corpse may actually disappear if you don't get to it fast enough. Or it could've been a bug, but for me, my first attempt it was absolutely nowhere to be found. (I initially checked the prisoner/hospital bed areas before going ham on the entire base with Quiet) After an hour I went back to the ACC, started the side op again, and saw it near the empty rectangular box.
