Do I unlock mission 51 the same way I did the others? By just doing a few side missions? I'd rather see it for myself than read it in the thread.

You unlock that mission by
purchasing the collector's edition and watching it on the blu-ray, or looking it up on Youtube. It is not in the game, it is cut content.

God dammit, the sheer glitchy nature of mission 14's mission tasks is driving me nuts. I've followed these interpreter and the interrogator like 5 times completely and lulznope to the stupid task. Same with the material containers...so dumb...Same problem with mission 20's conversation just not activating.

Whoa...really?
I have the collectors edition...so mission 51 is litterally the DVD? Not in the game at all? Wow.

Final missions spoilers. Help!

So, replaying old missions is a mandatory thing, right? because I was avoiding all of them and was doing side ops and main missions but I finished all side ops availables and mission 43, removed the buterfluy emblem and I still have Quiet with me, side op 150 hasn't triggered neither mission 45 or 46. I played mission 42 (fighting the Skulls) just in case but nothing happened... I think I have to play all those "harder" missions, right?

Def not. I just did side ops. Apart from Extreme
Quiet
I haven't done any of those "repeat" main ops and that was done as soon as they unlocked. Otherwise I've been doing side ops like crazy. The mission in question is pretty awesome though, imo.

Guys ,something that is not really clear to me.Where dp all the developed weapons go?
Example : I have developed the ADAM-ska handgun and it is nowhere to be found. It is not under my secondary weapons menu and not in the development list as it is already developed. Thanks!

edit:never mind ,it is before you start a new mission. I an new lol

That timing bro. I was gonna look for that just now and you got a man hooked up already. Got him!

Maybe I just need to do that one,
I've only done 42 of those kind of missions and still nothing (went to mother base a couple of time after removing the emblem and stuff)

Mission 23:

A whole base of child soldiers. Fucking hell... Kojima definitely put his balls on the line there. That's pretty heavy stuff for a video game to be tackling. I wonder if early in development we were allowed to fight them lethally hence the "taboo" business...

Anyway, the Eli fight was fucking brilliant. Took me totally by surprise, thus he proceeded to absolutely murder me. I couldn't stop laughing. He was so disorienting! Explains why they were able to bring down local villages. Loved the verticality of the area and the little tricks and ambushes he pulls off using the environment.

Excited to finally have this game downloading after being out of the country for a while. Managed avoid any real spoilers. Quick question; should I turn reflex mode off bearing in mind I intend to try play this very stealthily?

I had it turned off from the start and it makes the game much better IMO. You could just leave it on and if it starts to bother/make the stealth too easy, you could always switch it off.

I have a weird bug on mission 24. One of the objective is to extract 4 containers, I've extracted all container on the map twice and the game won't validate this objective.
Am I doing something wrong here ?

If you want to play stealthy, disable marking. Using marking is basically wallhacks. It adds so much more tension when you don't know where the enemy is.

Reflex mode is a final resort and quite useful if you spent 30 minutes infiltrating a base and about to get caught - taking that one guard out in reflex mode guarantees you can continue sneaking.

it would've been more shocking
had you been able to use lethal force on the kids. the most annoying part for me was trying to extract all 20 of them since you can't use traditional fulton methods on them.

the eli boss fight was kind of cool, i countered every thing he did so it was over pretty quickly.

These development timers suck ass. 2.5h for the
wormhole
. ughhhghghgh and then the limits for how many things you can develop at the same time. booooooooo

You can fulton
the kid, it requires an upgrade in the R&D

Weird, it worked for me when I extracted the 4 at outpost 16. But there are some tasks that are glitched so maybe just keep trying.

Start just leaving things on overnight. I haven't turned my Xbox off since getting a Combat Unit. Sucks if you're gonna play the game in long stretches, but it's pretty managable if you only get an hour or so a day to really sink your teeth into it.

Yep that's pretty much what I'm going to do. It sucks though because then your play time sort of gets distorted from all the waiting.

I disagree. Their inclusion at all is absolutely shocking. I don't know any other game that would go near that subject matter. They're already gamifying a terrible world epidemic, being able to use lethal force would've been a step too far into gratuity. It was pitched perfectly and hopefully raises awareness of the problem.

I didn't touch any of them, so the extraction thing wasn't an issue.

lol it's funny messing with the kids, you can't hold them up or try to interrogate them, they just go full aggro. and when they see one of their buddies down they yell in their high pitched voices :3

Nah, you're not supposed to be able to do that during that specific mission, it unlocks afterwards.
alright, cool.

The task for Lingua Franca where you have to listen to all interrogations is some high level of bullshit. Its glitched as hell and restarting the mission doesn't fix the glich (interpretor and interrogator who don't interrogate some prisoners), you have to finish the mission in order to reset the NPCs behavior.

Gotta love when they finally interrogate everyone and you still don't get the damn task

The pacing in this game is seriously bad..

The end of chapter one
finally went a little balls to the walls crazy, then at the beginning of chapter 2, I had to do some totally unrelated missions to randomly progress the story.

Same problem with the mission where
the second infection breaks out at Mother Base. Totally fucking crazy mission with real feels, only resulting in a total dead stop in the story afterwards

Seems I have to complete older missions with harder difficulty, to again randomly progress the story.

It's gotten to the point where I don't know if I'll bother.

Good game in it self, but a pretty bad Metal Gear Solid game. Makes me so sad. :(

Wow. Does this type of shit happen with PC/steam frequently? I seem to hear nightmare stories like this all the time.

If this happens to me? Holy shit. I'm gonna back up my save locally asap. Fuck that cloud shit.

It has happened before and Steam Cloud was involved too. But with another game.

I took to backing up my saves manually to my GDrive.

Ok so I beat the game. *inhales*

I found the game to be absolutely stellar and one of the best titles this year. It takes all of the attributes from previous MGS games and enhances them to the nth degree while also adding in a lot of new content and interesting features.

+There is an amazing diversity in the gameplay. Even though you go to the same areas multiple times, it doesn't feel redundant due to how dynamic each base can be, the sheer amount of gear and tools you can use, a day/night system that actually makes a difference etc. The game gives you so much to work with that it doesn't feel like a puzzle where you have to do exactly the right thing to progress, but instead a true sandbox where you can experiment.
+The missions are so rich in content and can be quite challenging. Sometimes after I complete a mission with 2/6 objectives done, I wonder what else there could have been. Then the game reveals some tasks I had no idea I could have done and makes me eager to try it again. They are definitely designed to be played more than once, which adds great replay value.
+The buddies are a fun addition. Each one is worth using and serve to compliment your gameplay style. Quiet is undoubtedly the best and most broken, but broken in a fun way and not in an annoying way.
+Weapon customization is one of the more underrated features of this game. There are so many weapons to use in this game, but you won't find the perfect one until you customize them. This encourages you to develop weapons you may not need, but it has some part that you'd like to add to your custom creation.
+The game looks and sounds wonderful. The lighting is especially impressive. The soundtrack is also memorable, both licensed songs and original ones.
+Though the side ops may sound boring, many of them are cleverly designed with unique enemy placement and clever obstacles. One of my favorites was when the enemy snipers tried to lure you out into a swamp with decoys. Since they aren't scored, you can experiment in ways that may be too risky for main missions.

+/- It didn't really feel like an open world game, but a hub based one. You basically just warp to different hubs and while you can technically explore anywhere, there's no reason for it since there's nothing to do or see. I don't think this is necessarily bad, but a lot of areas seem kind of pointless.
+/- Not too many indoor areas. It would have been a good mix up to have a few big indoor bases to explore, similar to how Snake Eater took place in larger environments but still made you go into the science facility and change up your gameplay.
+/- Security cameras were a non-factor. I think I saw one. They were pretty annoying in GZ, but I think they could have made one fun camera-focused area.
+/- Mother Base looked cool and it was fun seeing it expand, but there was nothing to do there.

-The story... I don't see how anyone could be happy with this. There were some interesting characters and themes, but none of them were fully expanded upon. Kojima seemed like he wanted put four games worth of topics into one. Not to mention the headache-inducing contradictions it has with the other games. Not small nitpicks either, I'm talking major events and character motivations being completely changed.
-The camo system was so bad. You really only needed desert fox for Afghanistan, woodland for Africa, battle dress for combat missions, and maybe the sneaking suit if you wanted to mix it up. Since you had no idea about the layout of the areas you were being dropped into (a color topographical map would've been useful), there is no reason to try other camos. They should at least have let us switch camos from a menu on the field, or allowed us to bring two or three with us.
-The controls were much better than in GZ, but still rather clunky. All this right stick flicking made selecting weapons a chore. Not to mention selecting things through your iDroid.
-Waiting in real time for stuff to develop is absolutely pointless. Why is this in the game? To keep us playing? The game is already absurdly long, we don't need more reasons to keep playing. Does Konami think that we want mobile game features because mobile games are popular? They aren't popular because you have to wait hours for the smallest thing.

I actually really like this. Hard to explain exactly, but waiting for development makes me feel more like I'm making investments into my base and equipment, rather than just instantly getting things I want from a menu.

Just a quick question, but is there an easy way to deal with helicopters? (particularly with side ops where they are required to be taken down). I usually have a tranq sniper rifle as a weapon, meaning that if a chopper comes up and I'm required to take it out I need to supply drop a rocket launcher (only to supply drop the sniper rifle again two minutes later).

I don't typically mind the weapon restrictions, but requiring rockets unexpectedly on side ops is annoying.

I managed to do it. This mission is both simple but very easy to screw up. I took two hours to do it because I always did some stupid mistake, when you try, and try, and try, you tend to rush in order to beat it quickly because you are tired to try, but that means you will probably fail again. Lol.

I've found that usually there is at least one soldier in the unit carrying an RPG. Failing that, if you have quiet at a high enough bond, you can order her to ricochet a grenade you throw.

I was thinking about this earlier actually. It would have been much better if you could have changed your camo from the menu instantly. I pretty much only use the sneaking suit because of the damping of footsteps and stuff. It's probably better to use other things, but I also like how it looks, and I never know exactly what the area I'm going into is going to look like, so... Plus, I go at night time on most missions - I figure black is fine for that.

A strange thing happened to me: yesterday I developed the skull suit, but I can't find it in any menu. I looked for 40 minutes, nothing. I also developed the
parasite
thing, I have that, but not the suit. Why?
