anyone else go through this same process:

1) scan a guard to check his stats
2) are they ranked C or above in anything? If so, bring em home
3) are they low ranked but a specialist? Damn, sucks that they kinda stink but lets bring 'em home
4) are they neither? well then
  • can you sneak behind them so they can give you some info?
  • you're pretty good on info in this mission soooooo
    DD go kill that fool
. Can't leave someone alive who can cost you later in the mission.

This loop happens at almost every outpost and really doesn't get old lol
Trust me, after 120 hours, it gets old.

Those of you who have finished the game, were the songs that were used in the trailers (Not Your Kind of People, Nuclear, Elegia) used anywhere in the game?

So, is Auto-assigning recruits reliable?

i find that 90% of the time it works out well. The only time you might want to micromanage is maybe when one of your divisions is about to be full. I'll move someone around to another division where they're equally as competent to free up some space until i can expand MB.

Also, if youre like a level away from developing something that you really really want then you might want to change things up to get that level

I just got this game. Holy moly is it overwhelming! In a good way of course. Burned straight through the prologue. So many thoughts and questions! I'll jumble them more clearly later, but for now how do I know which place has intel, besides just looking for radial dish on the roof? Scour every nook and cranny?

For things like intel and blueprints, hold someone up and question them. That seems to be the most sure fire way of getting locations short of just checking everywhere. Sometimes they won't tell you the locations, so you'll have to interrogate a few people.

I have found that early on when you don't have access to all the teams yet, that it will Auto somebody into R&D, when really they should be in Medical. Once you actually get access to Medical it doesn't seem to want to swap them over, so each time I got a new team I went through the low ranks for each team and moved assignments for people that were better suited elsewhere.

Pretty much every outpost I go to the first guy I interrogate tells me exactly what I need to know, and everyone else after that tells me where the extras are (tapes, resources, specialists, etc). I make a point to interrogate everyone because I'm pretty sure some stuff doesn't exist on the map until you find out about it via interrogate.

You can force the game to re-auto assign whenever you want. I just did that each time it gave me a new department in the early game.

So THAT'S what it is ! I used Quiet on 29 and now I can't finish the game. I've been scrawling through posts all last night trying to find out why.

fuck me man, how do I fix this......

Probably the same issue as Destiny had with Dinklage. Hollywood actors are hard to get back to the studio to record more stuff.

They had the original recording sessions to do tapes and cutscenes that were planned long ago, then during development they couldn't get him to the studio anymore.

Yeah this sounds like a plausible situation, I believe one of the reasons that Halo 5 switched Locke's voice to Ike Amadi is because of Mike Colter's schedule.

Start over. Or youtube. The only other choice is wait and hope a bug fix actually undoes it, but it's way more likely a bug fix will only prevent it from occurring rather than fixing the damaged save.

Anyone know if you can still tell guys to get down on the ground after doing a hold up? I'm playing on PC with a 360 pad but I'm not seeing the prompt to open the conversation options when standing behind a held up enemy. The option showed up in GZ, so I'm confused as to why it's not working the same way in TPP.

Edit @ Legato.Reborn: could you use someone else's save file? Hopefully you're on PC!

Wait, they changed the voice actor of Locke? Well that is disappointing as hell. After investing so much into it with Nightfall, and the dudes face...

But yeah, that was my theory for all the silence, I think they had him come in, and then could not get him back, and for a huge open game like MGSV, there were probably a ton of changes.

Another reason among many why they should have stuck with Hayter.

I used Quiet in 29 (twice) but I've been progressing fine.. Can you specify what the issue is? Spoiler if necessary.

not me
Yeah I saw the animals vs. soldiers thing myself. There was a side op to rescue a prisoner; I went there and the prisoner was tied up on top of a shed, the guard was dead and two wild dogs were running around. Still not sure whether it was scripted or not but it was a pretty great emergent moment.

I really wish this game had multiple save slots available. Any game this complex ought to do so.

Is there any way to easily back my save data up on the Xbox one version? To avoid these problems?

Nah, tranq>scan>fulton or shot to the head if stats aren't good enough.

Post Mission 31 spoilers

This chapter 2 is a mess. Repeating missions to advance in story is a nonsense. Feels lazy and a cheap way to scrap more hours in the late game. Is ruining the game for me.

I don't understand this design decision either, but I am at mission 35 now.

So. fucking. mad.

Well there are things you can try but none are garunteed. Usually a game breaker can be attributed to a false flagging as true or vice versa by accident when it shouldn't have triggered in the code.

It's possible this could be what's happening here and you may be able to reverse the trigger but again it's a shot in the dark. Replay the mission with a different buddy, try completing the same objectives but if they were killed by quiet perhaps have d dog kill them, or kill them yourself.

It's unlikely to work, but it can happen. I managed to undo a Far Cry 2 game breaker with a bit of experimenting along these lines.

yeah, but a shot to the head is a bullet spent. and a bullet spent is a suppressor getting worked.

I like to use bullet-free options whenever possible so DD is the safest option if for whatever reason i cant slit the guard's throat myself.

it's not my fault, he should gone to school or done more push ups or something.

Just read the Konami release on the "Mission 29 Quiet Bug". Like a lot of folks, I used her for this mission. How do I know if my save is corrupt? What happens exactly?

Do staff skills stack, or do I just need oneperson with said skill on the staff to get the full effect? Game has started sending people with skills to the Waiting Room to be replaced by those with better stats

Was just treated to a cutscene with Quiet wearing even less than normal (yes it is possible) lol.

Someone asked earlier but I lost the question and possible answer, but how do I get a better suppressor for a sniper rifle? My tranq rifle is still on the basic one. I'm going to assume by developing another rifle with a better suppressor, but it would be good to know what one.

Would happen on the mission. I probably used her, and I done 29 fine. Not reached 42 yet, almost at it.

I don't know about you guys, but I couldn't even select Quiet on Mission 29. Her face had a red line through it. :/ I remember thinking I could have used her help too. That mission was tough (until I decided to use a heavy machine gun - ho ho ho)

Based on what a poster earlier said, the game just stops progressing after the mission. I'm guessing it doesn't hit the trigger to unlock the next mission.

Holy shit mission 16 was crazy!
It took four tries, but I still got an S rank anyway wtf :O I wasn't prepared as I closed my eyes as to not spoil the characters, so I didn't have the tools for dealing with the unexpected. Twice I tried stealing the objective, including some failed fulton attempts, then I accidentally blew it up :lol Then I finally did it by shooting rockets at the targets. Thanks to Quiet who had put the entire base to sleep beforehand xD I have no idea how I'd do this without turning to more violent weapons? Sleep grenades or something? I was quite surprised by the effectiveness of a regular AK once my rockets were gone though. Too bad I missed so many goodies by constantly failing.

Looks like I got away with one on that Quiet bug, as I definitely used her (and definitely wouldn't have beaten that mission without her.)

Just got an email from Nvidia regarding the key I bought for MGSV from the BST thread.

Hi

My name is Dita Bednarova Goczolova and I work within the marketing team here at NVIDIA. I notice that you recently came to the NVIDIA website to claim a steam code for Metal Gear Solid.

I hope that you got the steam code ok and you enjoy the game!

I was curious to know how you obtained the NVIDIA game code, as the code you entered was not intended to be used where you currently live.

I wanted to check with you personally to make sure that our systems are running well and to help make sure that gamers like yourself don’t become a victim of fraud etc.

Hope to hear from you soon, and enjoy the game!

Dita.
