Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain |OT2| [EXTREME]

nortonff

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
Why a side mission is checked as completed but is still highlighted?

I'm confused as hell how people who have a lower defense/offense level, way less durability, way less soldiers, basically the stats except overall offense and defense ability where some are in the millions despite being so low everywhere else. I really need to learn how the hell that actually works.

Seems to be messed up for some people. I saw someone with 20x defensive level over my offensive and I beat them (along with everyone else by the looks of it) and got crazy amount of points.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's a bug connected to when they first or last played, like it could be broken for people who haven't logged in since launch.

Edit: in the case I can see, they started playing before launch and last got a trophy in mid september.

Hey guys

There's a non lethal sniper that allows you to attach a sleep grenade underbarrel but I can't seem to find it or at least it won't let me equip it for some reason

Do you guys know the name of the weapon?

E: NEVERMIND just found it. I equipped something on it that wouldn't let me have the sleep underbarrel

Anyone give me some tips on loadout and strategies for infiltrating FOBs? Finding them insanely difficult.

Tried to get revenge on an invader earlier but kept getting caught on the final platform. Last time was right at the entrance to the core of the Med platform.

I'm literally just interested in getting to the core. Not bothered with stealing stuff on platforms.

I'm started to get annoyed at this game

Yesterday my Support Unit glitched.. The last(lower rank) 20 soldiers were just 5 soldiers repeated 4 times each and no matter how many S ranks I got, those 20 wouldn't go away until I just dismissed them

Now it's my Intel Unit. It maxes out at 298/300 soldiers. There's that stupid Ziang Tang or whatever he's called who, for some reason, I can't dismiss. And none of the dozens of S ranks I've gotten today show up in the unit! I have like 15 A++ but the S rank volunteers I got won't replace them.

And sometimes I infiltrate someone, the game loses the connection even BEFORE I leave the chopper.. I lose hundreds of points and the other player gets to retaliate!

This is ridiculous.

E:
The stupid 10 day wait to develop an item is also annoying

I had two FOBs I invaded yesterday not have any of the items I extracted count. One of them I took two nukes from. I'm not sure if it's the servers acting up or a glitch from people having insurance.

Replayable side ops are only completable twice? Did another run of Prisoner Extraction 02 and it's now greyed out.

There can only be active one side op in each map sector. Completing the other side op in the sector will cycle the available op.

I use noctocyanin, reflex mode, serval with silencer, sleep grenades, decoys decoys decoys, you can take out 2 guys with an estun decoy, once when you inflate it and then when the second guy attacks it.
I plant c4 (usually under a camera) and detonate them when I'm somewhere else as another distraction. For the med platform I climb up a pipe to the roof then drop over barrier by the red light door and grab onto the floor below.
I'm not an expert and have trouble against snipers a lot of the time, probably because of all the explosions i'm causing.

If it's a rifle or shotgun defense you can safely spray the base with gattling gun fire before you teleport, choose the right hand warp and shoot at the left of the base and they will run off to investigate the helipad, and you can usually just sneak along the right edge of the first platform without any trouble.

There's a few good streams for you to watch and they'll show you their loadout. Next time someone's streaming I'll link it here.

Probably the servers or something because if it was insurance, that would have to mean everyone I infiltrated these last 3 days have insurance which is unlikely.

The AM-MRS - 71 or 73?

Question:

In part 1 I unlocked the first 7 wandering soliders and gave the photos to Paz. Now I just finished Missions 41 and also captured the 10th wandering soldier, but I can't seem to go in Paz's room anymore. Is this not available in part 2?

Also:

Do I really need to do those revisit missions in order to get a mission past 42?

Edit: nvm I see the second question answered above.

I've started just using a gun with an under barrel after finding players when defending FOBs it's just launch sleep grenade, switch to fire, shoot the shit out of them until they're dead.

OR

Wait for them to wake up, put them to sleep again. Repeat for lots of espionage points.

If you have no dignity, that is =P

That I knew already, but Prisoner Extraction 02 doesn't share the same location as any other available side ops. Was under the impression repeatable side ops are repeatable indefinitely.

Is there something up with the servers and developing weapons right now? I have 3 online weapon developments initiated, and it won't let me start anymore. I thought the maximum was 4 or 5.

finally finished every side op. never again will i have to eliminate those damn tank/armored vehicle units (as easy as they were)

now i just need to s rank every mission and do the optional tasks. for the latter, can you just do the task and trigger a checkpoint, or do you have to finish the mission?

got any security devices devloping?

Just got my guncams, but I think they'll be mostly useless until the next update, and you'll probably have to develop something extra to relocate them.

I figured it out. I was developing a pistol but it wasn't showing up in the first tab like I assumed all currently developing weapons would do. Apparently it just shows those being developed whose requirements you can meet if you weren't already developing them. Clumsy UI decision.

Ah yeah, I noticed that, I think that wasn't a problem with the original items but not sure.

The AM-MRS - 73, yes. I use that one for defending. I usually just hit the guy once to cause an alert and watch him freak out from 2 platforms away lol

How's the nuke hunt going?

Yeah i use it as my general FOB build. I have the rifle version grade 7, for cameras, crones and defenders or invaders... with dual scopes, a dot sight 1 and a 2-4x booster for distance shots and the underbarrel Sleep nade for defenders and FOBs.

Another day another quarter of my resources stolen. And my retaliation attempt was a complete failure because I have no practice on anything but the event FOBs and can't afford the time to screw around infiltrating my own FOB to learn how to do it well. This whole thing is just so constructed to screw people over who can't "get good" in an attempt to get them to sign up for insurance. The worst part is by failing to retaliate I've just reopened myself to the person. I really need a way to lower my rank to stop this, it's discouraging and soiling the entire game. Now I have to spend my limited two hours of gaming time farming the staff and resources I lost. I can't even develop better defenses because freaking common metal is required for everything and impossible to farm without invading other players.

Edit: Also this game needs more than 3 custom weapons and load outs. I'm getting tired of having to constantly change them every time I want to attempt a player FOB or replay certain missions. I know it's insignificant but that's 5 minutes that adds up when you do it enough.

Guy I retaliated against retaliated back, at least this time I was here to defend. I wish it'd let you know what gear they were wearing if you capture them. This guy took 4 Serval shots from point blank and didn't die. And his shots knocked me out in 1. Not only that but he broke my choke instantly. I don't know if there's gear or something to do all that but it didn't feel fair at all. He extracted me two times before my non-lethal guards managed to knock him out for me to extract. Also it's ridiculous you can't edit your loadout when you redeploy to defend. I had to scramble to put one together and it wasn't working well but the other 2 loadouts I have are for farming missions, making them completely useless for this.

Big Boss lives on THROUGH THAT ARM.

Indeed.

Btw, does deploying non-combat staff in combat deployment missions grant them any skills when leveled? Would be useful if Motherbase's only redhead could develop a Gunman skill.

Does it 1 shot drones? If it does, please share the full customization details if you don't mind

nah, no skill changes unfortunately. all you can do is boost their stats with medals

Finally managed to try MGO. Got kicked out two out of three times. Improvement!

It's fun, but yeesh, Konami. Fix your servers before you lay off your people.

I believe host migration is being introduced in the next update (in 2-3 weeks if I recall). Kind of waiting until then before getting back into MGO. My biggest regret is not waiting to activate my XP bonus until they made it more stable.

Decided to do something that I never do in MGSV! Play FOBs.

PC has a ri-fuckin-diculous amount of nukes compared to other platforms, so I managed to steal 4 tonight. Basically have the rank 7 S1000 non-lethal shotgun for knock outs, and the AM-MRS-71 for drones and cameras.

One guy decided to retaliate against me for taking a nuke, so we had this intense cat and mouse fight on the final platform near the finish zone. I knocked him out twice before I could actually fulton him as he was getting up way too fast, but third time was the charm.

When defenders join in, it's a lot of fun. But otherwise a stale game mode without them.

Looking forward to meeting those new recruits, Boss.
Boss, I'm looking forward to the new recruits.
Boss.
Those new recruits.
Can't wait to meet 'em.
BOSS!

Every time I get that "those animals owe you their lives" dialog I can't help but think "do you think they'll fight for me?"

And yeah FOB is bullshit.

So I'm doing some side ops while killing time developing my tranq gun with the infinite suppressor and it tells me I went offline? Funny thing, I'm still online, so I continue on with my mission. Then I'm nearly 1 million GMP in the red due to Konami servers going offline. Well, don't wanna play now or else risking losing my men.

Thanks Konami, thanks......

On another note, another Japanese player retaliated against me after I retaliated against him. He actually succeeded reaching my core on my combat platform at level 41. How do you take care of enemies with metal plates on their head?
I tried to tranq them somewhere on their body. I hit metal. Am I'm supposed to bring grenade launchers and an rpg to deal with them lol?

You can still headshot those guards with a tranq! Just aim a bit lower. The back of the head is fully protected, but from the eyes down in front of the face is completely open, so aim there. S1000-AIR shotgun (Stun) is by far the best weapon when it comes to knocking out guards on an FOB. 1H-KO basically anywhere from 35M.

The WU-Tranq with armor piercing doesn't work against the metal plate, so just stick with a rank 5 pistol with unlimited suppression.

I've pretty much given up trying to be non-lethal on FOBs unless the guards are of use to me which at this point is only S ranked and above which is rare anyway only other exception is FOBs with one or maybe two platforms with low level people. Aside from that it's Brennan LRS-46 or Serval AMR-7 armor penetrating one shot kill time.

Bought GZ on sale. Figured the talk of it being a 'demo' would be overstated. Main mission literally takes about an hour to complete and slaps a pre-rendered 1080p trailer for TPP on the end, haha.

Still fun and there are various side ops left. The added challenge with the lack of fulton, barely any truly hidden incapacitated enemy dump spots (dumpsters don't seem to open in this game), and no tranq ammo resupply forces you to tread a bit more carefully (though the night and rain compensates somewhat).

Wish the game didn't display the Windows cursor above the game at all times though, gosh. Borderless fullscreen/fullscreen, neither makes a difference.

Edit: also the combat alert triggers are ridiculous. You misfire even a silenced tranq in reflex mode due to the lack of decent auto aim and a base-wide combat alert instantaneously engages and soldiers begin firing from all corners even if out of view and at a distance. It's clear how much controller aiming was improved in TPP, along with more subtle things like widening player camera FoV (it can be too close in GZ to see clearly around BB's body at times).

A few questions about GZ save imports that I'd appreciate some light on from anyone that may know. There was a whole thread about it months ago but unsure if anyone would see it now.

- I've read importing the save requires both games to be in online mode. Would this affect my currently entirely offline-only, ToS-declining state in the Phantom Pain? Since I haven't built an FOB yet I'm wondering if any offline resources/GMP would be taken and held online due to this process. Update: after accepting the ToS for the first time and connecting online to import the GZ save I then disconnected and have continued to decline the ToS and play in offline mode. No resources have been transfered online and FOB creation wasn't forced since I manually disconnected during the popup about it.

- Do any of the POWs rescued in GZ possess special skills or appearances when imported and added to Motherbase, or are they just extra regular staff? Edit: found a list of their stats here, and some screenshots of some of the (generic) POWs. I think only the Finger has a unique face.

- Can I re-import an updated GZ save at a later date if I complete more of the tasks? Edit: according to this, yes.

When you go to the missions menu, and select that mission, does it show the cybernetics specialist as being obtained?

There's tranq ammo in the metal watch towers, and some on the shelf inside the admin building near the main gate.

Also seeing how TPP alerts work with that base handling the alert, it makes sense why GZ has base wide alerts, since there's nowhere else to call in reinforcements, it makes sense that the whole base should go into alert.

Good to know. Eventually came across one in a mission but can't remember where.

This is me nitpicking but it's more that the alerts happen so immediately rather than giving the semblance of some delay between the enemy spotting you and the full combat alert. In TPP if you misfire (ie: can't land a headshot in time) the targeted enemy will start shooting and a combat theme plays, but it takes a moment before someone radios in and all enemies react.

In GZ the exact moment reflex mode ends unsuccessfully a siren begins blaring even if the enemy you missed hasn't fired a single round (can't tell if this is the combat music or meant to be on-base loud speakers) and enemies out of sight and from all sides are magically alerted. It's too jarring so inevitably I pause and reload from a checkpoint, apart from the balls to the wall action missions which are fun.

The AI feels the more gamey of the two titles, and in some ways it's useful: enemies almost never investigate glimpses of you if stay out of their flashlights, their suspicion timer is shorter, bodies are noticed less, and combat alerts in some missions can be inexplicably called off even following a gun fight. The lack of camo makes you easier to be spotted at range and the reflex timers are shorter so it evens out a little.

And retro mode is the best.
