Imagine how sad their 2023 would be if they didn't have Bethesda to save their asses?
And they get no credit for it because the games were in development long before they bought Zenimax.
They really need some internal restructuring, they can't rely on constantly buying studios to have output.
Sony doesn't have much this year, but at least it keeps dripping...
Agreed but I will say Forza Motorsport has me really excited.

They have a massive sci-fi western rpg coming in Starfield & Playstation has 2 Jrpgs on the horizon with FFXVI & VII Rebirth. Both will be feeding their respective audiences well.

I'm sorry I disturbed your sensitive soul and offended your precious company.
No need to be so defensive, MS can defend itself and only looks bad on you.

I said it keeps dripping because they are releasing another Spider Boring game, for me they have nothing this year.
I'm not here to defend Sony, they have done really dumb shit in the past (and are still doing, like stupid mod support policies).

It's really sad that you consider anyone that criticizes MS and instant Sony fanboy and feel the urgent need to defend it. Companies don't care for yours or my feelings.
I suggest that you don't attach yourself so much to the honor of a plastic box, there is more to life than that.

Jesus what an idiot. And EA isn't for this deal.

He isn't wrong. Sony isn't fighting this acquisition tooth and nail because they are "for the gamers". And Microsoft isn't trying to push this acquisition through because they are "for the gamers". Both companies have a bottom line that is all about the money. I stand against this acquisition because I don't think either company should be able to buy gigantic publishers as that is an anti-competitive practice.

Spider-man is boring to you? Fine.
Vr is maybe not for you either I can understand. There is a few coming out soon otherwise.
Resident evil 4 Remake ? Please like that one at least? Not exclusive, but the VR version kinda is?
Then Final Fantasy 16 and Rebirth are this year too.
Some announced games like Stellar blade and Tchia should be out this year if we are lucky. But you probably are not into those games i think.
Jokes aside the game that I am most interested in this year is The Plucky Squire. I liked Spiderman so i want the next one but not like I wanted GOW Ragnarok. Just that saying no games and no games for you are not the same thing.

I was referring to 1st party only.
I'm interested in VR, but not in Horizon, don't care for horizon games.

Even in a slower year like this, Sony still has 7 first-party games to be released this year, in addition to Horizon Burning Shores expansion.

Ah yes, the tired hypocrisy where Xbox only gets credit for the negative things their studios do.

Calm down warrior and stop being so serious. I am fine on my pc and my Xbox I have no quarry in your war.

I havent said a single word that defended Microsoft in any way, I just called you out.

Take a chill pill and step back a little with your blood rage. Take a snickers.

GT7 VR is not a new game.
Stellar Blade is not 1st party, it's just exclusive.
Horizon Burning Shore is DLC.
Horizon Burning Shores is an expansion, yes. I didn't count it in the 7 games.
GT7, although a free update, is a full-fledged built-from-the-ground-up VR game, utilizing all the PS VR 2 features.
Stellar Blade is a first-party PlayStation Studios title, in collaboration with xDev.

They bought zenimax to pad out their output. They are doing that.

Apart from console warring and spawning list wars, what is the point of this post?

Edit, I saw a playstation game list has already been posted lol. Mission accomplished

Shift Up is not owned by Sony and the IP Stellar Blade belongs to Shift Up (https://www.trademarks411.com/marks/79362013-stellar-blade), not to Sony. So the game is not 1st party.

I wonder how long it will be to know what remedies Microsoft offer to the CMA.

EDIT: Salt?

Holy shit 🤣

They're eating their own!!!

Seriously tho that's kinda petty of him to throw Idas under the bus like that. I don't even agree with most of Ida's conclusions/insights!

Meanwhile this dude isn't that far removed from Lulu in terms of obvious personal gains (be it financial, professional and/or legacy) they stand to get if the deal's approved, and their discourse online (blog in Foss's case) often gives that away.

It's at least 1P-adjacent, and being treated like a 1P game in terms of resource assistance, support & promotion by Sony.

Either way, I do hope we see a new outright 1P reveal or two a bit later this year from them.

Its not that big a leap really, FTC, CMA, EU have rubber stamped Sony as market leader and the aggressive anti consumer actions that helped them get into that position.

If you are Sony why wouldnt you continue snapping up studios and moneyhatting exclusivity deals to strangle your competitors further, back to business as usual.

You guys still think this is mainly about Sony? 😆

Okay okay.

Time to put Jim on trial for allowing PlayStation to become market leader engage in practices that every company does. Such as marketing deals or exclusivity deals. Then also put them on trial for acquiring a huge multiplatform publisher known as Bungie.

/S

I don't know why people keep bringing up marketing deals and exclusivity agreements. They have nothing to do with this and it isn't illegal for any company to do that. Now acquisitions can become illegal if they hurt competition. Which is what regulation is studying here. Sony are not being looked at by them since they are not the ones buying ABK. If Sony were to do the same I'm pretty sure they would be going through this or worse.

Ubisoft must be looking at all the mess about this deal green with envy.
"Why won't anyone buy me???"
"Fight over me, PLEASE!"

It is not that exclusives are the only good games; they are the games that set the consoles apart.
I don't really agree with that assessment in this day and age, as they make up such a minimal amount of titles overall. A dedicated player will see it as just an extra spice since they don't engage in tribalism or casual single-system coveting.

....which is exactly why Sony has concerns about losing CoD.

If COD was a small IP that didn't really impact Sonys revenue I don't think they would care.

But unfortunately for Microsoft its a huge IP with a ton of people playing it. Which makes it a lot more difficult to secure since its so popular.

3rd party games sell on both consoles, 1st party games measure the performance and output of studios owned by manufacturers, and by this output we can judge the need to buy Activision or be against Activision be bought.
If Sony was spitting million sellers games left and right they probably wouldn't care as much with this deal, but apparently this year Sony output is only slightly less dry than MS.

I don't give a single fuck about the business side of gaming. I was just pointing out that the same people who list exclusives are the ones who say "so and so has no gaemz!". Possibly the dumbest thing ever said on game forums.

I think they would still care about Activision even if CoD was not as popular. CoD became really good ammo.

Even smaller titles separate the console experience though. Look at Hi-Fi Rush recently. Something on the XB ecosystem that Playstation does not have. I guess XB sort of muddies it up a bit with day one PC, so in that regard, it is less important for PS players with a PC. Really. I was just trying to answer ShadyAcshuns ShadyAcshuns question about why people bring up console exclusives vs thrid-party. I suppose that answer wasn't good enough. 🤷‍♂️

Sony is apparently making 400m - 600m usd each year thanks to CoD, that’s probably level of revenue generated only by their top selling first party games and these are not yearly releases.

The focus on cod is really odd to me. It's the easiest to latch on to. But the arguments seem to be that it's fine that 99% of Activision/Blizzard titles which were once multiplat will be Xbox exclusive, except for this one franchise, COD. A 10 year COD deal doesn't resolve the issue that it's degrading the scope of products available to console gamers.
