Well, playing Redfall wasn't a pre-requisite for y'all to get that games review thread to a mammoth 75 pages and going, so have at it hoss :p
Pretty baller how a Gaf review thread has more engagement than the game itself. And far more entertaining, for sure. Kind of like a bad car wreck where everyone slows down to get a gander.

I nominate the Gaf Redfall review thread for GOTY contention. Never in doubt.

MS recognizes they need to do better. Again. Don't you want MS to do better, adamsapple adamsapple ?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

But like you said, the thread is unanimously a dumping ground for memes and tweets from randos with very little engagement about the game itself.

I do personally think the CMA blocking was silly on the grounds that it blocked it on. Cloud gaming is such a tiny portion of the gaming market and I don't see it getting anywhere that big in the next 10 years because of lag along on multiplayer games.
I'm getting pretty bored of this take.

MS are going all in on the cloud, and we still have people going on about it being a tiny market.

MS are expecting this to be the future of gaming.

You are either being narrow sighted about this or believe everyone at MS is an idiot for going for the cloud market.

it doesn't really matter if you think it's going to get big, MS clearly do and they are trying to corner the market early so no one else bothers.

That’s not how any of this works

You can’t acquire a company when you’ve been blocked by the regulators
Just let him continue to think it works the way he think it does. Lol at the end of the day he will be looking like a fool because in no world has a acquisition got blocked in multiple regions and the merger happened no matter what lol.

I haven't been on the thread much because it's not that interesting to me personally if it happens or not, I'd like to get my Call Of Duty on Gamepass as it would save me £70 a year but apart from that I'm not really bothered.
The people with the most posts on this thread seem to be people who don't play on Xbox for some reason but then would love Xbox to "compete" or so they claim.

EU approval shows the CMA decision was a farce and they dont understand the industry.

Maybe MS just blocks ABK games from gamepass in UK, CMA gets what they want forcing everyone in UK to pay more for games and have less options to play them.

Regional content differences are super common for streaming so its not without precedent.

"Early" is not the right word I'd use, considering xcloud already had multiple predecessors and we've already seen a full-blown cloud console come and go in the market.

They're just the only ones who haven't managed to crash and burn in the cloud sphere so far, and that's mainly because their cloud service is not a standalone product.

Does'nt work that way, the contract says cma has to allow the merger

They would have to renegotiate a new purchase agreement that does not include the CMA, and that means a new shareholder vote.

If they event went that way, xbox and activision would have to exit UK entirely.

Differences of opinion on a discussion forum???

95% of people here thought the deal would be approved by CMA and no one considered cloud important enough to discuss it in any detail, then after CMA decision its was cloud cloud cloud, the narrative changed to rationalize and accommodate the farcical decision.

Actually Microsoft would have to exit the UK entirely. Not going to happen.

It would still be owned by MS, but it acts as a separate entity for buisness in the UK, under the rules set by the CMA
Let me understand:

Microsoft will buy Activision
But it will be a seperate company... Owned by Microsoft
Unlike Activision Blizzard in the rest of the world which will operate as a seperate company.. owned by Microsoft
And to do this Microsoft will propose this structural remedy to the CMA? I expect there will be some time travel involved to go back to when structural remedies were on the table?

Reading back the thread is nice sometimes
As of right now, this deal does not pass without some major concessions being written in. Either divestment of CoD or CoD + Blizzard, or some other agreements the CMA finds agreeable.

As for killing it outright, they basically aren't going to do that. Rather, they have put the ball in MS' court to decide one of two things:

> Fundamentally alter the deal and lower the value you'll derive from it
> Walk away from it.

If MS hasn't made one of these two choices by the deadline in March, the CMA will then kill it in April.
