Microsoft has instructed Xbox social media accounts to go dark today to avoid criticism

Earlier today, it was reported that 650 employees were being laid off from Microsoft Gaming, with many of those said to be from Activision Blizzard. Things have been pretty quiet ever since, and it seems there's a good reason for that.

According to The Verge's Tom Warren, Xbox's social media teams were told to "go dark" for the day following the news, with the idea being to avoid an embarrassing "Feel the Burn" situation like last time. This refers to a tagline for a controller that was awkwardly revealed on the same day as four studio closures back in May:

Microsoft has instructed Xbox social media accounts to go dark today, amid the layoffs. It's to avoid a repeat of "feel the burn" Xbox controller announcement during the last layoffs.

- do mass layoffs

- muzzle your social media accounts to avoid anyone making embarrassing comments about it and getting negative press.

- get negative press for muzzling your social media accounts

So they want to avoid embarrassment by not saying or doing anything embarrassing but then this information gets out (that Microsoft are worried about this) which is embarrassing by itself.

Embarrassing.

This is sad though I don't like nothing about this & the people affected by this should come together & have something done about this whole situation.
