The thing is, no one cares when it is white people. No one would bat an eye about Canadians or white Europeans being here without documents. It's racism plain and simple. That's why the roach king and other racists care so much.

I won't deny that most people probably would be more comfortable with white immigrants, but every non-British European group that has come over has faced some form of discrimination from the groups that came before. If we had, lets say, Ukrainians come over in the hundreds of thousands and refuse to assimilate, they would face a lot of backlash, too. If we had them entering the country illegally en masse, then we would see a similar level of backlash, no doubt.

Wow holy shit they don't even try to sugar coat it, quote: "We're a small but mighty team of artists, storytellers, and activists", "Our team is over 60% BIPOC and over 60% female/non-binary, and we aim to challenge the status quo in the broader games industry."

fucking hell 😂😂😂

how about I challenge you guys by not giving my money? 💸💸💸

Just listening to that dev say "coyotes," and "Colombia," in that faux-authentic white girl woke points way is enough to make me lulz to the bank and made a heavy lmao deposit

The game looks very strange, and I wonder which target audience it's supposed to appeal to.

But I also have to say that Asmongold has become a very difficult character. His reactions increasingly reduce to ragebait and polemical, overly dramatic, fatalistic statements. Hardly any facts or a critical examination of admittedly difficult game concepts. I don't see any added value in engaging with Asmongold's content, unless you have some weird radicalization fantasies. ;)

After walking through wilderness, hopping into pick up trucks and crossing the border at midnight sneaking past border control, you will get to the final boss scene.

With a shaky hand scrawling your barely legible name on an application form, you win the game when you get your first taxpayers funded welfare check. You did it.
Is this vr compatible? If not, would not recommend.

I love how when it's people's time to face the short end of the stick, they're suddenly worried about what's right or wrong; legal or illegal...

Morality is only a memory when belly is empty - El-P

This is NOT art... it's political propaganda.

Even as a movie or a TV show it would be the exact same response.... complete fucking derision by everyone outside of the most ardent far left cultists.

You've got to be fucking kidding me that this shit is even real.

WTF are you even talking about?! You couldn't be more wrong.

Nobody agrees with illegal immigration, regardless of skin colour. It's tards like you that insist on making it about race. Nobody fucking cares whether the illegal immigrants are black, brown, green or fucking Alien greys from Alpha Centauri. What they care about is people circumventing immigration rules to pile into a country illegally. They care about immigration controls, because they care about the pressure that uncontrolled immigration puts on housing, jobs, wages, child care, schools capacity, social services etc etc....

The only people making this issue about race are the fucking nutters who just want to misdirect and ignore the problems that uncontrolled immigration causes. You're completely fucking nuts if you think this is about race....
Come on, there is all kinds of propaganda in media.

Like fucking war movies.

Why treat this as something different? Just skip it and play the next thing.

It's good that you accept reality unlike the idiots above. And Idk how Hispanic farm workers and waiters are such a problem that we need to send them to concentration camps. I think immigration should be regulated(and it is or we'd have WAY more illegal immigrants), but let's be real, the ones signing up to work for ICE and feeling giddy about tearing families apart are mostly racists assholes.

They want us fighting like this amongst ourselves to put wool over our eyes to the real issue in this country. Greed.

Have you ever crossed US/Can borders?

You need a passport or other valid ID to get through customs. And they track your license plate when you drive over. My buddies and I cant even just spend a night spending money in Buffalo or Detroit watching a Sabres or Tigers game without showing ID at the border.

Nobody just waltzes in. People follow the process.

Twice a year since I was born until about age 22 or so, now I go to Mexico maybe once every 3-5 years(I'm 44). I know it's well regulated but the fear mongers are calling it "uncontrolled immigration putting a huge strain on our country". My argument is that white people "waltzing in" wouldn't matter to most of the same people who claim to be concerned with illegal immigrants.

A lot of people are OK with games being considered art or at least at the same level as other media. Nobody would even flinch about a movie about immigration. Why make a distinction?

I'm Mexican and I don't feel like playing it but the existence of a game about that topic doesn't offend me either. I don't get why people complain about games they wouldn't touch either way.

How are war movies propaganda?

Do you even know what propaganda is? You don't seem to.
Yeah, English is not my first language but propaganda means the same in my language:

information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.

War movies are often times proganda. In WW2 days the American government collaborated with Hollywood through the Office of War Information to produce that kind of content. Hell, even since the first world war movies and media were being used to support the effort.

Do you think things happened as portrayed in movies? For example, wouldn't you say it's convenient that the movie Pearl Harbor portrays the Japanese attacking the US just because? Did you know that in reality the US had a blockade in place despite not being actively participating in the war? I think sharing that kind of information is more relevant than seeing a Japanese fleet commander saying "I'm afraid we just woke up a tiger" (or something for that effect) but that would put nuance and show the true complexity of international conflict and invite the audience to go deeper instead of just trying to draw a perfectly clear line of good vs bad.

Other movies like Black Hawk Down (I love it, btw), have been widely critiziced for being pretty much a vehicle of propaganda with direct collaboration of the US government (including script changes and all). If you are honestly interested and have some time read something like this: https://www.researchgate.net/public...tionship_Shaping_Public_Perception_and_Policy

More recently there has been a lot of controversy in China for this movie:

as it shows Japan's attacks in China during WW2 from their own perspective and influencing Chinese people's perception of Japan. Many of those things did happen (don't know the precision as I haven't watched the movie) but that's how an American war movie can seem to foreigners pretty often.

Another, easier to understand example: Disney's The Three Caballeros was funded by the US government to support Roosvelt's "good neighbor policy", as part of an effort to keep Nazi influence out of US' backyard through soft power, you can read a little bit about it here: https://confusingmiddle.com/2025/01/06/disney-07-the-three-caballeros/

Even games have been used as overt war propanda like America's Army which was used as an official army recruitment vehicle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America's_Army

Propaganda is all around us. It's almost impossible to live the lifestyle we have without being exposed it. It helps, however, to know you are dealing with propaganda.

It's part of books, magazines, games, comics, music, movies, tv shows... You name it!

So I haven't played this game and probably never will so I don't know how biased or misleading is but, as many other pieces of media around it may push a political agenda. Is it better or worse when is pushed by the government, by an organization or simply by a person (which many would call art)? Personally, I think there is no difference as to criticize one kind of propaganda while allowing other would only be ignorant. In any case the ideas portrayed in the game or any other piece should be criticized but this pieces do have a place in the world. Trying to draw a line between "acceptable" topics to make media and non acceptable is simply too dangerous and puts the very concept of freedom at risk.

Yes I just waltz back in to the UK after a holiday, I just finger gun and smile at the security and they let me back in to my home country. They never EVER ask for my facial recognition and passport

Of course the game's art would be some corporate memphis adjacent looking drivel.

Boring ass, no talent, texture-less slop that thinks it has something to say, but I bet that something will be predictable.

i think the issue is that its trying to 'give a message' than just make a game.

Like Papers, Please, is a fun little indie game that also has a layer about it, but the thing is that its also fun. To the North sounds like its gonna be preachy and that's its purpose
Imagine give a message to the gamers about poor people who immigrate trying to fix desperately their economic condition. Disgusting

I mean the topic isnt bad. Could imagine some nice stealth shooter (illegals vs ICE...both parties playable ;)). But this game here just seems to be leftist propaganda trash. Good luck selling a few copies!

Certainly, and there's definitely interesting stories that could be told in that context. This is not that. She straight up gave a full on propaganda sermon and forgot to even show the game trailer. It's not about the game or storytelling in this instance, it's straight up ideology not even barely concealed. Which is a shame as this stuff does a disservice and damages the likelihood of future success of games in that vein that actually aren't just brainwashing tools, and are built from passion for storytelling/gaming. It poisons the well and creates hate and resentment (as evidenced by the rhetoric it's already created).

Road 96, whilst also having an ideological message, told this sort of story far far better.

I don't care about killing thousands on foregein countries in games, why would I care about that? Lmao, just this year we are getting multiple AAA of USA killing everyone around the globe, and this is the game that is a threat?

Im an eastern european so any1 coming here is only in transit wanting to go to western europe anyways, but still only way i would agree to illegal imigration(legal one is cool, done by proper means, usually takes months if not years of paperwork tho) if this was implemented:

A relative of mine, European, is studying at an university with a soccer grant. His father died one month ago. He couldn't attend his funeral because he would not be let back in the States.

You are absolutely clueless so please FUCK OFF.

No one seems to have a problem with GTA having "illegal activities" in it. People on here were defending rape games when they got delisted on Steam. I guess this was the bridge too far for GAF. Not murder, not any other illegal activity ever. This was the trigger, this no name tiny game with barely anything going for it.
You really don't see the difference here?

No one takes GTA or whatever "rape simulators" you are talking about seriously. These are either obvious satire or just developers trying to be edgy.

This game, however, is clearly a lecture/propaganda that obviously pushes an agenda. It's not satire, it's not trying to be edgy or funny, it's trying to "educate" you. Just look at this whole talk and all the messages and agendas she is trying to push. That woman didn't even show the damn trailer of the game, she just lectured during the whole demonstration.

Pretty sure the dev of the "rape simulator" you are talking about never made a lecture like this, did they?

It's not totally strange to us. I mean Life Is Strange 2 is one of them and I think, from my personal experience with these types of games, they are necessary compared to many other unrealistic s that we usually get from the store. At least the graphics and gameplay has to be nice, generally speaking, since the most of us don't care about the plot when everything else about the game is great.

I can only speak for myself….I LOVED the movie Grave of the Fireflies, it was very emotional movie about the survivors in aftermath of Hiroshima atomic bomb…..but as much as I loved the movie and the topic it was tackling, do I want to play a game about that topic…….not really.

I don't care if they're making it, but I don't think they're going to find the sales numbers they're looking for. Microsoft has no idea how to make a game that sells, it's awe-inspiring to see them make the wrong choice over and over again and keep trucking on. They even announced a new console, but no one can explain how their business model will change to become profitable.

I don't care about the game. I care about how the people making it affect the rest of the industry. For more than 10 years these people are trying to censor and cancel any project or dev that doesn't follow their agenda. They have also infiltrated existing studios who handle old, classic franchises in order to change them from within. This particular woman is also workign with Sweet Baby and we all know what that fucking studio does. They are not making games, they are trying to change games other devs are making, using blackmail tactics.

The difference with the movie industry is that the activists haven't managed to damage it as much or completely change it to their will yet. It's much harder to cancel someone like Tarantino, who mostly works for himself. It's not like a Sweet Baby studio for movies would be able to make him change his work. There are still a lot of big/known movie directors who work for themselves but not many equivalents in the gaming industry, like how Kojima has his own studio and can make whatever game he wants and doesn't care.

No opportunity is lost to engage in silly platform warring, I see.

Microsoft isn't making this game, they aren't publishing this game, and won't even benefit significantly from sales numbers since it'll most likely launch on all platforms. Their financial involvement seems to be via ID@Xbox and most likely will see this show up in GamePass and be a Play Anywhere title.

What does that have to do with racism towards Mexicans? I'm talking about the huge concentration camp and people lining up to join ICE to rid the country of brown folk, not how easy/hard it is to get into the country legally.

You've got some seriously warped views. The torture video on Kick wasn't a lecture, or educational either. Everyone knows the worst thing we can do is educate someone. Far worse than glorifying interactive rape.

And then to top it off, you act like you actually care about "canceling."

State of indie game industry right now, something like this will be funded, while good indie game is shrugged.

I recall lot of gamedevs said that their game cannot be funded, because not unique enough.
and when they are releasing themselves, as they hit jackpot, lot of publisher coming back and offer the publishing option.

World is not fair, as usual...
