Heidi Watney on Quixk Pitch, great to be back. It's like being tucked into a warm bed and listening to a bed time story. She just makes the mundane compelling.

I always hate the one game opener, then a day off after. I have plenty of other games I can watch today, but I want more Cards/Reds.

so Cleveland doesn't want to extend Masterson to some club friendly contract like 4/60M? the Red Sox will be all over him this off-season, so will 20 other clubs.

The Show is out today, and of course, I am really tempted. Might go Vita, since I'll be getting The Show for PS4, and can do cross saves.

With a newborn on the way, the Vita might be a good option for those late nights.

I'm thinking about picking up the Vita version today or tomorrow to hold me over until the PS4 version too. As a father of an 8 month old I can tell you it's a great idea. My Vita play time sky rocketed once we had my son. I still get some console time, but it's so much easier to pick up the vita and set it down real quick if need be.

The Show is not out today! Only AAA level gameplay.

Well, as someone who is about 8 months ahead of me on the curve, I think I'm going to go that route. FYI, its $35.99 on the Vita for download.

In other news, Mets closer Bobby Parnell has an "incomplete" tear on his right elbow. Most likely headed to the DL, with a future evaluation scheduled after the two weeks.

Another elbow explosion.

Mets' Bobby Parnell has a partially torn UCL. The Mets will rest him for two weeks before deciding what to do.

Actually not that surprised; was startling how low his velocity was in his first game. Sucks, but eh, he wasn't all that great a closer anyway.

Should have traded him at the deadline last year, Sandy.

Right, I want to see the Mets bullpen blow more lead. Atleast I'll get to see the Astros beat up the Yankees.
Astros are gonna get swept

The problem with the Mets bullpen is that they don't have any hard throwers. Every guy that comes out is throwing BP speed. Then the guys that do throw hard (Parnell and Familia) don't have any control or a good secondary pitch.

I think the bullpen is kinda a two-way problem between the talent in the bullpen, and TC's managing of them, with most of the blame going on the pitchers they have and management's inability to bring in reliable ones. But I don't think TC helps matters too much when he's using three different relievers to get one damn out, something he's done several times here. Doing that leads to situations like yesterday where he had to leave in Lannan to face Rendon because it was the tenth and he only had one guy left in the bullpen because he's so insistent on getting lefty-lefty and righty-righty matchups. Torres fucked up by issuing a four-pitch walk to his first batter, but then TC brings in Rice, lefty specialist, to face Denard Span (promptly did the same thing). If you don't think enough of your guy to let him face Denard fucking Span, why the hell did you even put him out there to begin with?

Similar example: I went to a game last year where the Mets were playing the Nats and Matt Harvey pitched (awesomely). Mets had control of the game in the eighth. Aardsma was pitching and he was pitching well. Had one on with two outs, very much in control. Then TC insisted that a lefty come out to face, again, Denard fucking Span. What happened? Edgin walked him, got pulled, TC brings out Lyon, walks the next guy, gives up a game-tying double to Zimmerman, got pulled.

Problem would largely resolve itself if we had reliable relievers, but I just feel TC way overmanages this shit sometimes. It's Denard fucking Span. Not a bad player, but one whom if you feel the need to micromanage for, you're doing it wrong.

Yeah, it's totally that as well. I just wish we had just one of those St.Louis Cardinals relief pitchers.

2. Broadcasters should cut to commercial upon the last out of the inning or during pitching changes only when the Field Timing Coordinator provides either visual or oral notification of the start of the break. The Field Timing Coordinator will notify the broadcasters of the time remaining in an inning break or in a pitching change break, and will assist the Umpires in eliminating unnecessary delays in the game when players are not ready to commence play when the break concludes as follows:

a) The Field Timing Coordinator will time the inning breaks and pitching change breaks from the time that he notifies the broadcasters of the commencement of the 2:05 or 2:30 break. For pitching change breaks, the Field Timing Coordinator will notify the broadcasters of the commencement of the break when the relief pitcher steps onto the warning track or crosses the foul line after exiting the bullpen.

b) In order to provide the broadcasters, Umpires and players with information regarding the timing of the break, and to prevent the inning from commencing when the broadcasters have not yet returned from commercial, the Field Timing Coordinator shall hold up colored cards as follows:

(i) The Field Timing Coordinator will hold up a RED card to signal when an inning break or pitching change break commences.

(ii) The Field Timing Coordinator will hold up a BLUE card to signal when the pitcher should throw his last warm–up pitch (with forty–five (45) seconds remaining in the break).

(iii) The Field Timing Coordinator will hold up a YELLOW card when the batter should leave the on–deck circle to approach the batter's box (with twenty–five (25) seconds remaining in the break).

(iv) The Field Timing Coordinator will hold up a GREEN card to indicate that the break has concluded. The Umpire shall not resume play until the Field Timing Coordinator holds up the GREEN Card.
