System is still broke and a joke! Writers can't see past Piazza being an openly gay ballplayer.

Craig Biggio is hilarious. I think eventually they'll have to put Barry in. I'm surprised he's already getting hundreds of votes.

How in the world does someone not vote for Randy Johnson?

Regardless, LOL at those vote totals for Sosa, Clemens, McGwire, and Bonds.

Barry Bonds deserves to be in. PEDs be damned.

Everyone was juicing and they still are--the tests are super easy to pass.

Biggio deserves it

As for why someone wouldn't vote for Johnson: The logic by many writers is that they know Johnson or Pedro will get enough votes for induction. So they'd rather put that vote towards another player who may need more help getting in.

The tuck is this shit?

Clearly know nothing about baseball.

I'm so happy for Biggio.

???

He's in the 3,000 hit club, which generally is an auto-bid for the Hall. Also, he has never been suspected of juicing.

Not saying he doesn't deserve it just seeing his name next to someone like Barry Bonds or Roger Clemons is sorta ridiculous. If you're gonna argue numbers Barry is like the undisputed king of all things numbers. I understand the reason why he's not in, but Barry is so far above everyone else offensively that it's a joke.

Kinda surprised Schilling didnt get in

Look at this class. He was not going to get in over some of the other players on the list. The next few years of voting are going to be stacked. If anything Schilling and Moose deserve to be closer since their careers are very similar. The only difference is the world series rings.

They're not voting Barry because of their ridiculousness stance against people suspected of PEDs. The PED hate is beyond fucking stupid at this point.

i've been begging for over 5 years.
I don't give a shit about PED's anymore. Baseball/Sports have always been 'dirty' in one way or another. When people are competitive there are always some that do whatever they have to do to get or keep the edge.

Which makes it even dumber that he wasn't voted in last year. B-BUT HE PLAYED DURING THE STEROID ERA SO HE MIGHT HAVE DONE THEM TOO

The only Astro that I remember doping was Ken Caminiti, and he was on some real hard drugs that don't exactly enhance your on field performance.

Why can't players be clean like the good old days? *ignores rampant amphetamine abuse in the 50s/60s/70s/80s because it's different somehow*

There are many people who don't believe Biggio is a HoFer. At no point in his career he was really the best at anything, and played longer and healthier than comparable players.

Ultimately should he get in? Maybe. He certainly isn't one of those guys you should be rushing to get in over clear cut superior players.

Wait... what? *googles*

...Wikipedia says he's married to a Playboy Playmate. *scratches head*

I Googled him too and it turns out no only is he not gay he's also a city square in Italy, Malta, along the Dalmatian coast and in surrounding regions.

If biggio played in Boston or new York he would be considered another Derek Jeter.

Agreed. Neither are going to get in but Bonds should get in long before Big Mac does

Why does it have to be anything beyond that?

I wouldnt vote for McGwire because of the PED stuff plus he was a one trick pony.

McGwire I get, but Bonds? He is one of the best players of all damn time. It's not like he was some scrub player who used PEDs to hang out and eek out stats. PEDs or not, he had the bat speed and eye. PEDs don't suddenly make you read a pitch better or swing a bat better.

Yep. And Tommy John surgery is something that people just ignore.

Not going to argue that at all, because you're right. But what about fly outs that might have turned into home runs, what about hits/homers he got in games he would have missed if he wasn't using PEDs to recover faster, etc?

Stats be damned, I think PEDs lofted his career numbers to a different level than what they would have been had he finished his career clean. I know it's a flawed argument but I don't think a dirty player should be rewarded with a hall of fame induction, even if he was already a borderline hall of famer before he supposedly started juicing.

Because there's no possible way the advancement of exercise and workout regimens in the time those guys came into the league to the years they retired could have happened (Except Sosa).
