I mean I know we have talent but that series of never missing a swing was what really got to me. I mean damn...

I know we can come back but when was the last team down 2 in the WS? Its just tough.

You guys played great, and I know the Royals aren't an unlikable as a team I just get clouded when they're facing mine and every little thing is reason to hate the team.

If it helps, the Mets were down 2-0 when they won in '86.

I think it was the 1996 Yankees. Royals and Mets did it in when they won in 85' and 86'.

damn right, it comes with the territory. I still remember being down in school in 2000 and people thinking "what the hells wrong with him"

I mean the pennant is still more than I ever expected but I still want more.

Last 15 of 16 teams to go up 2-0 locked it up.

Edit: all time, only 10 of 51.

That sucked. Worst deGrom has looked in a long time. Wasn't hitting his spots, hung more sliders than not, and just no movement in general. And couldn't hit shit either.

Syndergaard needs to bring the A-game Friday otherwise this is over.

There is nothing unlikable about the Royals.

Well, Hosmer kind of looks like a douche. And Cueto's hair is inferior to Syndergaard's.

He looked good early, low pitch count, then the 5 out inning, walked Gordon to lead off the next inning on what looked like a couple of close pitches, couldn't stop the bleeding from that point on, just lost it.

Even early, he looked a little tenuous at times. BABIP was going his way a little bit. I do agree about the close pitches. Tough strike zone tonight at times. On that particular walk, three of the four balls could have reasonably been called strikes no sweat.

Dejected Mets fan here...so hard to see them winning all 3 at Citifield so it's likes now I'm what, just hoping to be down 3-2 going back to KC? ...sigh

One game at a time, man. One game at a time. The Royals do still have to win two more. Syndergaard isn't going to lay down. Cueto was almost untouchable tonight. Let's make it back to Cueto again for a chance at revenge. The guys we'll face in between aren't on that level.

Also all you jabronies complaining about Met fans coming out of the woodwork don't seem to have a problem with it happening with KC, it's just what happens

That's completely fair. There were so many brand new Royals fans that appeared last year I lost track. My mom works for the team and watched the fan base balloon as the team got better. This year it was a mad house at the K, since people actually believed the team was good (and they were right).

I don't begrudge anyone jumping onto their local team when they are winning. That happens in every sport. Don't let any "seasoned" Royals fan who started watching the team last October get under your skin. I don't think those of us born in the very early 80s who have always loved the team mind. I watched more games this season (159 regular season games, all the playoffs) than I had the previous five years combined. I don't consider myself any more or less of a fan.

Degrom's reaction after getting roasted and reading this comment:

Hosmer. Definitely him.

Don't know a whole lot about him, but he exudes kind of a brash Bryce-Harper-ness (without the elite talent). And his hair style is every bit as douchey as Harper's. Doesn't really scream "humble team leader face of franchise" like guys like Wright or Kris Bryant do.

But I guess if this is all we can come up with for reasons the Royals are unlikable, we're grasping at straws.

AL is Mickey Mouse Baseball.

Since interleague play came about in 1997. Over those 19 seasons, the AL has had the better record in 15 of them. The run differential has been massive. The AL is up 2,551 games to 2,292.

Mickey Mouse too strong. It's not our fault you guys enjoy watching shitty pitchers strike out 6-8 times per game. Convince your owners to stop being cheapskates and actually buy a decent batter to fill that spot.

The DH will be the only rule in existence sometime in the next decade or so. It's going to happen.

Royals are fucking trash I don't know why there even in this spot.

Quality post. Sorry your team came up short.

As a group, I don't think they are unlikable (unless they beat your team in the postseason, which I can understand). But Hosmer, something about him that rubs me the wrong way. I can't stand the guy and it has only been two games.

The "Schwarber Rule" will be coming to the NL park near you hopefully by 2017.

Yup, that's cool. Just what pisses me off is a bunch of people I know acting like they like the Royals all of a sudden and rubbing this in my face. Like, I get it, the Yankees didnt pan out but would it kill ya to not be obnoxious and maybe support the other club representing the city? I still think the Mets are a fun, likeable team. I try to like the Yankees, I really do,but they're not too fun to watch and the fanbase is just the worst.

Also yes that gif is great

You have to let this Hosmer thing go. Everyone in the league loves Hosmer. He's a class act, team player, gold glover, and has blossomed as a hitter.

He also doesn't have any issues with gay people, just FYI.

Oh, you mean folks from NYC are cheering for the Royals over the Mets? That's a bit lame, but I guess I can see it. It could be an AL thing, but it's probably big brother jealousy. We Royals fans cheer against the Satan Cardinals no matter who they are playing. :)

Well said.

The NL is stupid and is only the way it is out of blind adherence to tradition. The DH is the pure American approach to baseball where hitting baseballs really far is the name of the game. The NL stubbornly sticks to this nonsense despite nearly every other professional league in the world adopting the DH like any intelligent person would. Pitchers hitting should be relegated to ancient history, along with takeout slides at 2nd and umps calling balls and strikes.

Down with pitchers hitting, may the DH reign forever and allow old 30-something year old fat guys to launch baseballs 400 feet instead of pitchers getting a standing ovation for laying down sacrifice bunts and occasionally hitting bleeders through the infield.

The DH is an abomination of the game. Pitchers hitting may be ugly, but it's part of the game. I'm not worried about catering to Alex "I'm not comfortable playing the field anymore" Rodriguez, or Big "I can barely run to first base anymore" Papi. You field your position, you man your spot in the order, no matter who you are. That's classic, and true, baseball.

I'd go so far as to say remove the DH at the minor league, college, etc levels. Stop the self fulfilling prophecy in its tracks.

And additionally, robbing the world of the spectacle of Bartolo at the plate would be criminal.

I mean, the equivalent would be the NFL altering the rules to favor secondaries over the passing game. That's not how sports work in America. It's okay to make tweaks back and forth to balance the offense and defense equilibrium, but intentionally gimping your team by forgoing a specialist is stupid. I can't think of any other sports scenario where a team is required to place an individual in a role they absolutely suck at.

Pitchers cannot hit. Bumgarner gets floated around by NL fans as proof otherwise...congrats on your career .183 batting average nine slot guy. It's archaic. We're getting ready to see a bunch of pitchers whiff over the next three games and it will be absolutely disgusting. At least it helps protect all those NL Cy Young candidates' ERAs. :)

I apologize. It was difficult for me to tell with your SPINNING MAPLE LEAF AVATAR.

Its k dude, lol, no need to get too riled up by this, series still has some baseball to be played. I can see where you're coming with the Hosmer thing, but he's never done anything classless or disrespectful, just a lot of swagger is what I've seen.

Also I've really tried to forget about those comments Murphy made, ugh

If we're bringing the DH to the NL, better be bringing robo umps as well.

That is, if we really are being serious about ridding ourselves of these 'hold overs' from a different era.

Sign me up! Stick to an automated system and we likely remove 95% of the bad calls. There will always be some margin of error, but I'll take it.

Word. That "purity of the game" shit is going out the window with replay and was stupid anyway. I'd prefer the DH in both leagues too, having it in just one of them is ridiculous.

Royals are a perfectly like able team. They play good defense, they don't strike out and their team has sucked for a long ass time. I'm a Giants fan but I understand why it's frrustrating to see a team with a laughable offense win 3 World Series.
