Uh, has Dixie ever seen Tito "Seraldo Bobbyloo" Ortiz work a mic? Someone might want to forward her the Cyborg presser where he froze up in front of about half a dozen reporters.

One of the greatest light heavyweights of the night.

It's a such a shame that Bellator is walking down the ole retarded UFC rival path instead of being content with ruling BadMMA until the Ultimate implodes.

I guess this leaves RFA's Mickey Sores to give Dana the coup de grâce as history repeats itself.

Bellator's shitting the bed with this, and TNA is wasting spots on their roster with guys who can't wrestle or work a mic. It degrades both things to do these stupid crossovers.

I'd like to think that Viacom's open chequebook to UFC has-beens is part of a greater strategy to promote greater awareness of Bellator as to promote their existing talent and to secure longevity for the Bellator brand. But in all probability it's purely down to Viacom mistakenly pursuing seeking short term gains before closing Bellator in late 2014 after realising there's no money to be made in high-level MMA unless you're the UFC.

Mak taking positivity to new levels.

I think there'll be a curiosity factor of it being Bellators first PPV, people reliving their Pride days (ie dream / yacobud) are interested, and if the price of the PPV is low enough it wont be as prohibitive to purchase as a $50 UFC card. If this were a UFC PPV wiith the same main event, I think 250k would be optimisitc. But who knows.

BTW - calling it now that UFC 163 has the 2nd lowest buys domestically for this year. I'm saying about 100 - 150k for that one.

lol ain't no PRIDE NEVER DIE people buying this bullshit. Rampage has proven he doesn't like this shit anymore quite a few times, I don't believe his lies for a second. As for Tito, we're lucky if he even makes it to the cage after Dr. Simmons fuses his C5, C6, C7, C8 and C9 vertebra.

This is such a transparent cash grab on both of their parts and in addition, they've been good friends for years. How do we know they're not just going to do some worked fake kind of thing?

This fight is going to make Machida vs Hendo and Rory vs Ellenberger look like epic scraps in comparison.

Do we have any informed speculation as to how much the Bellator PPV will be?

Getting the info from a comment made on Heel's TVbytheNumbers link:

Bellator MMA Live: Summer Series – Spike TV
0.679 million viewers, #29; 0.413 million adults 18-49 (0.3 rating), #24

Fight Master: Bellator MMA – Spike TV
0.629 million viewers, #30; 0.306 million adults 18-49 (0.2 rating), #28

So in what was easily one of, if not the best shows Bellator has ever put on they hovered just under 700k for a free show. By comparison, UFC on FX 6 which had Pearson v. George Sit as the Main Event pulled over 900k in the worst ratings of any UFC on FX show (Used the FX cards since for a basic cable to basic cable comparison).

The lowest PPV buys for the UFC this year was Evans v. Hendo at 150k buys (Prelims are listed at having about 950k viewers on FX) so with Bellator having a weaker brand and a considerably less known roster in addition to Tito and Rampage being pretty widely recognized as past their prime.. I really don't see huge numbers for this event unless the PPV is priced considerably less than 50-60.

Thinking about it though.. I'm not sure if this is really Bellator seriously trying to get into the PPV market or if it's just trying to break even/slighly profit off of this event while strengthening their court case against Alvarez as well as making all their other "right to match any offers" contracts stronger.

Edit: And I totally misinterpreted your question. Oh well. The info might still be interesting to someone.

The thought of this panning out is nothing short of embarrassing.

I hope they put on a good show for a modestly-priced PPV. Your pessimism is entirely warranted though.

If it makes you feel any better, I read the whole thing. It would be interesting if Bellator could actually rise as a viable alternative to the current UFC. Even now the UFC makes up 75% of the MMA I currently view. The other 25% are old PRIDE shows.

I ain't gonna lie though, tickets go on sale for this tomorrow and if they're cheap enough I'll buy a couple for lulz.

Hope they stack the rest of the card like they just did with Wednesday's card. And yeah pulling a super low number would prove Eddie's case in court in a perfect world.

In order to do that though they have to support their homegrown talent. Chandler and Askren should've been co-maining this PPV rather than two old guys who made their bones in other much more popular organizations.

I'm just hoping they price the ppv at something reasonable like $20 or lower. If they try to charge the same as UFC they're fucked.

Also - contemplating going to some Bellator shows in November. There's one in Revel in AC (which is an awesome casino) and one in Bethlehem PA. I think both of those cards have tournament finals on them.

So the PPV tomorrow has a better lineup than last weekend's Fox card, but not by much, lol.

Thales Leites is on the fucking main card.

That's all I have to say.

Oh and no Erick Silva.

Weigh ins start at noon best coast time. (an hour and a half from now)

Another UFC card I had no idea was happening this weekend. Perhaps I'll hang out and watch this one live with you folks.

How many buys did the WEC's ppv get? It'll be around that for Bellator.

Aldo vs. Faber did 175k but that was practically presented as a UFC ppv. I think it was actually called UFC Presents: Aldo vs. Faber without any WEC branding at all.

I'd argue that last week's card is much better.

I said it before, I'll say it again - I hate Brazil cards.

Honestly, we can't blame Joe Silver for this stuff. Too many cards means the talent is going to be spread thin. Something like Aldo vs. KZ should be a co-main.

100%!(Tito voice)

Last week's undercard had a few meaningful fights, this is just future washout (Brazilian) vs future washout (other) and some squashmatches involving fringe fighters. It'll do worse than Hashad - Hendo.

That's the second time Gary Lineker's missed weight. He shouldn't be eating all those potato chips.
