Welterweight Dong Hyun Kim vs. John Hathaway - should be great.
Welterweight Sai Wang vs. Lipeng Zhang - ........... ?
Heavyweight Matt Mitrione vs. Shawn Jordan - It's heavyweights, so maybe a quick KO.
Bantamweight Nam Phan vs. Vaughan Lee - Nam Phan has been in some great fights.
Featherweight Hatsu Hioki vs. Ivan Menjivar -Ditto here for Menjivar

I'm actually excited for a few of these fights at least.

Oh fuck off, Bellator needed Gilbert. And the Ultimate needed Aldo vs. Showtime Pettis. This is lose/lose for everyone.

Don't kid yourself, drm. Aldo is never going to vacate the Featherweight strap and Dana, for whatever reason, won't allow him to challenge Pettis unless he does so. The fight was always just another carrot for the UFC to dangle in front of their fans ala GSP/Silver and Silver/Jones.

You guys must be using the term sexy in a loose sense. Like when people say Zingano and Ronda are sexy but in reality, they clearly look like two women who get punched in the face for a living.

Why, Shaners? It sounds like the sexyweight division to me.

Sexyweight yes. Terrible fight weight? Yes.

Most of TeamNegative already complains that the lighter weight classes have no power to finish, what does that mean for a couple of 115lbs ladies? Just doesn't sound all that appealing to me from a fight standpoint. *shrug* but oh well, prove me wrong ladies.

I don't get why Dana doesn't let Aldo keep the strap and move up like he did with BJ. Always forcing the vacated stipulation on him, I mean who cares. Not like anybody besides Aldo is a draw in that division.

Melendez staying is good tho

Per the terms of the agreement, according to several sources, Melendez's deal guarantees that at least 75 percent of the 31-year-old's fights will be contested on pay-per-view moving forward.

I wonder how Fox feels about top fighters having deals that largely guarantee them PPV fights. I'm sure when they signed this deal, they didn't imagine they would become the home to Demetrious Johnson title defenses.

The amount of events the UFC puts on necessitates vacating the belt. We get enough filler events as it is.. it'd be that much worse to have less title defenses. In this particular case it would probably break even with Pettis getting injured constantly but that is out of Dana's control. Aldo vacating isn't. And the division would end up being more competitive and likely more entertaining if Aldo vacated.

Congrats to Gil tha Business Gawd :)

Per the terms of the agreement, according to several sources, Melendez's deal guarantees that at least 75 percent of the 31-year-old's fights will be contested on pay-per-view moving forward. Additionally, income earned from Melendez's contracted pay-per-view points will kick in at a lower minimum buy rate than for any contract in UFC history, meaning Melendez will still earn pay-per-view point earnings on an event that performs poorly at the box office.

Melendez will also earn pay-per-view income regardless of his placement on an event, i.e., regardless of whether he fights in the main event, co-main event or main card.

Altogether, the terms of the deal will likely make Melendez one of the highest paid fighters in the current mixed martial arts landscape.

I'm surprised the UFC set the precedent of allowing fighters to play both sides instead of just letting him walk. Really exciting fight, too. One of the few match-ups on the horizon that I'm genuinely excited to see...maybe happen?

You can't compare across the genders like that. Women are generally lacking in KO power compared to men anyway, but the skillsets and talent pool of WMMA make scrapping the default instead of a specialised niche.

Sexyweight works when the other fighters are also 115lbs.

Plus, unless I'm mistaken, there really isn't a 115lbs woman who is as dominant as Rousey. That's a big plus, you get scraps instead of squash matches.

Wow. Really selling that 10 bucks a month right there. And the week after you've got Jimi Manuwa in a main event. Move over Netflix, I've got a new must-buy streaming service.
Oddly enough, I'm more inclined to pay for this fight than the one Dana White sold people on this weekend. I'd much rather watch six of these cards for $10/each than one $60 card like UFC 170.

UFC 168 may have been the last card I pay for at home. Right now I like UFC 171: Hendricks vs. Lawler and UFC 173: Weidman vs. Belfort as PPV cards, but I'll go out to see both of those. For now I'm done with throwing money at this organization.

All your money goes to Gil now anyways even if he's not on the ppv. His lawyers drafted the best contract ever conceived and the UFC buckled like Brock getting a liver kick.

I for one give in to my inner Matt Brown and embrace sexyweight. Nothing will make this company plummet faster than some class action discrimination lawsuits.

why not have 2 shitty, under-developed, talent lean divisions, when you only have 1?

makes perfect sense!
