MMA-GAF |OT5| Father Time Is Undefeated

Joe Warren has the most deceptive nickname in MMA. The "Baddest Man on the Planet" is a 5'5 bantamweight with 3 finishes in 9 fights? Who you crappin', jabroni?

Don't forget his mouse voice. Lol I really can't take him seriously when he gets amped up. Looks like he's trying way too hard to be tough.

The UFC minimum performance bar has been raised with this cut. Okami was 13-5 in his UFC career and 3-3 for his last six. The Fitch cut apparently didn't make the message clear enough for some guys. Any fighter content to grapplefuck his way to a decision is primed to be cut from the organization at the drop of a hat. Or in Okami's case, a round one KO.

I'm praying that Erick Silva somehow manages to sub Kim Dong-Hyun then.

Stun Gun isn't anywhere near as boring as Okami.

I remember that takedown, too. Point taken, though his decision-happy ways certainly don't bode well for his prospects if he's brutally beaten.

If the semi-main event is suspect, the main event is a joke. Undefeated LFC champion Feather "the Hammer" Hadden (17-0) will take on Jody "Conquering Angel" Connacher (0-3) in a match that has all the elements of a pre-meditated murder. A few months ago Connacher was a LFC ring girl. In her first three fights (losses to Cordell, Gaddy and Glam) Connacher has shown no signs she can survive an encounter with the Hammer let alone win.

I love this.

“Right before the meeting President Clinton was being taught by his aides this jujitsu move where if you grabbed Arafat’s elbow, pushed your hip out, there was no way he could hug him,” said Soderberg. “That’s exactly what Clinton did to avoid a picture of him being hugged.”

Who would have thought that Bill Clinton had dat sprawl and brawl mentality.

However:

Arafat did eventually did get his man—seven years later. He and Clinton were finally captured locked in embrace, on neutral territory—Switzerland.

Yasser won 30-27.

Yeah most of the WMMA old guard are really bad fighters.

I wish Holly Holm was on this season of TUF that would've been awesome.

A pro wrestling style angle took place this afternoon at the Mr. Olympia contest in Las Vegas.

Chael Sonnen was one of the guests and was signing autographs. While people were in line, Wanderlei Silva, accompanied by a camera crew, showed up. He and Sonnen went nose-to-nose and ended up having a pull-apart.

If its staged then they have been staging this for years. Every time they have been around each other you can see the tension. I remember them have one of the most tension filled car rides I ever saw.
Chars if you can't see how that's clearly kayfabe then I don't know what to tell you. Also, if you have respect, you no lost your teeth.

Also, Joe Schilling is the man. Spike could've had themselves an American Kickboxing star if that aired on Spike. Oh well there's always Rick Roufus.

I just heard my Muay Thai gym is shutting down. I think they're opening a new place, but no idea. :/

Everything Chael Sonnen does from the moment he wakes up in the morning is staged.

Making me sad. :(

I've seen things over the years in regards to body language that lead me to believe there is real heat between them.

If you don't think they're at least to some extent posturing in front of the cameras and people in hopes of a payday then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. They're exaggerating the shit out of their "beef" in order to build heat for a fight. Sure, there's more authenticity to it than some WWE promo, but it's still acting for an audience to a certain extent.

CBS Sports Network.
Just curious, did they fill the venue? I remember watching the Glory Italy event and the stadium was pretty empty.

Oh, and not sure if it has been mentioned, but Showtime has a younger brother (20 years old) who is now 9-0 with 6 finishes. He fights at flyweight, and I bet he will be getting a call from Dana soon.

it's a small venue in the LA outskirts so it's possible that they did come close to filling it.

I'm not sure though.
Hmm, I live about 6 hours by train away from Tokyo and want to make the trip to see Glory 13, but I am scared that it will have low ticket sales and will get rescheduled (which apparently happened last year?) It doesn't help that it will be headlined by a welterweight tournament with fighters Japanese fans do not care about, and a lot of the big names are already committed to other Glory events.

I'm also kind of bummed out by how little press Glory gets. Hopefully that will change when the Spike deal kicks in.

SCSA speaking truth.

"They're two different worlds," Austin said about pro wrestling and MMA. "But there's something of a parallel. Pro wrestling is basically what MMA is, just at a worked level with theatrical elements."

Austin noted one of the weaknesses with a lot of fighters is in doing interviews, something he was a specialist in as a pro wrestler, an element very important he feels in building a fan base and attracting sponsors.

"I do it all the time," when asked if he gets frustrated at fighters who don't use their interview time wisely. "A guy gets a chance on the horn and they crap the bed. That's an outstanding opportunity for you, a great way to reach out and let the crowd know who you are and what you are. Some guys talk stupid trash that doesn't make sense. Some of the guys who lose fights get a booboo face. Anytime Brian Stann fought, whether he lost or won, he commanded your respect when he was on the horn. I always liked to watch his promos. He's a smart cat."
